Fnaar Fnaar

Ah! Thanks for explaining. Had overlooked it.
I actually did mean musical performance and didn't even see the innuendo until lurksalot pointed it out. Its enough to make a fella blush.

A day gassing over new amps to try and further downsize and clean up my sound a bit. Really fancy the GK MB500 - super small, light, sounds great in all the soundclips I can find and a footswitchable boost/drive channel. I was supposed to be having an acoustic rehearsal with my guitarist but he had to work at short notice. Also our recording session at the beginning of December has been cancelled. Very disappointing, decent recordings would be a huge help in promoting the band.
wireless kit to leave the stage and dance with my wife during the inevitable Sex on Fire (and got a big fat snog
fantastic! IMO, few things are better than your other half enjoying your performance.

ha, I've just emailed this to my drummer. Hope he likes it.

Glad you're feeling better. Sometimes a break is what we need. Hope you made up with your partner. I'm heading in the other direction at the moment. Playing lots of acoustic guitar.
aah thank you sir!! I think I might change the valves AND pick up an attenuator then... get paid on the 15th so will search then! Thanks!!
Hiya, how did you get on with this? Thinking about changing the valves in my OTB to reduce the gain a bit.

Spent last night sending emails and demo bits to promoters and venues in Leeds trying to book a slot for Madam Fade next year. We know a fair few people up in Yorkshire and we keep getting asked if we're ever going to play there. Fingers crossed.
And also after playing "Dear Prudence" the new guitarist said to me "I was worried that a girl would be able to hold down a bassline, but in fairness to you girl, you are sh*t hot, that's the best I've heard that played"
Hopefully the more excellent female players people meet and listen to, the fewer people will hold these beliefs. Well done for being Shi*t hot!
Mine is Bass --> Lead --> DI-Preamp pedal --> PA Sounds good enough for what I do (noisy rock) and is light/small enough I can carry all my gear in one hand.
That would make me very happy. If I could guarantee helpful sound engineers and decent monitors (which I can't at the venues we play) I'd be doing this too.
my approach is "What can I do without?" I'm constantly tweaking and refining things, so that I can take less gear with me.
This is how I approach gear and gigs too. I want to make the logistics and setup at gigs as simple and easy as possible. I try to remove as much complexity as possible and focus on the fun and creativity of playing.

Played at Lock 42 in Leicester last night with my band Madam Fade. Didn't get a soundcheck (still not sure why) and consequently had bad stage sound but apparently it sounded good from out front. Played ok, really getting into the frontman thing now. Enjoyed the other bands on the bill, nice guys too.

nice work Bilbo.

Welcome to the forum. Plenty of love for lightweight gear round here.

Guitarist has borrowed an amp for Friday's gig! hurray, what a relief. And booked a second gig for next year. Good times. Edit - girlfriend is studying in the flat so no playing today
run a seperat loop (ls2 perhaps) with just a dirty pedal or a fuzz. Ive got a joyo octaver fuzz which does a fuzz one octave up. Have it runing all the time and hit the ls2 to kick in the 2nd loop. Instant extra rythym guitarist!
Sounds like a good plan. I was going to suggest the Fishman Fisson.
I have a voice that makes people cry...and not in a good way

I know that feeling, I have a voice reminiscent of broken pianos and cats being set on fire.
Sounds like you guys should start a metal band.

Yesterday was a mixed day for me. Great rehearsal and finally got a date for recording in the diary. A friend of the drummer is coming along to our rehearsal space to do some rough and ready recordings. Hopefully end up with something decent we can give away to promoters and maybe sell really cheap at gigs. Downer was that at the end of rehearsal out guitarist's amp died a bit of a death. It isn't the first time and he just doesn't have the funds to fix it. I've offered to lend him the money or just pay for it to be fixed properly but he's not going for it. Not sure what we're going to do, we've got a gig on Friday. hmmm
-
Fixed for you!
You could arrange a viewing area at your rehearsal space and charge a couple of quid to get in.

I wonder if the first Fender Precision still exists somewhere.
Only one snag, we need a singer. Really hoping we find one soon as we're itching to get out gigging.
Why not have a go yourself?

I used to do this in a covers band. Only one guitarist so I improvised and had to cover the bass part and rhythm guitar. Had to do that in pretty much every song with 2 guitar parts, fun times. The thing I remember about it is that you've got to know the guitar solo, its sometimes not what you'd expect.

Can't help but feel that a some songs in the same key will make it easier to segue between songs at gigs. Less stop time on stage means less time for people to stop dancing.
That's easy, disown them and keep the bass
Well you've got that one sorted!
if you want a job doing well, do it yourself....
Well said. Edit - I put together my own band and love it.
