1. Can't help but feel that a some songs in the same key will make it easier to segue between songs at gigs. Less stop time on stage means less time for people to stop dancing.
2.
That's easy, disown them and keep the bass
Well you've got that one sorted!
3.
if you want a job doing well, do it yourself....
Well said. Edit - I put together my own band and love it.
4. Congratulations to you both. Great idea and something really special. I echo thoughts about the suitability of a bass though. What if s/he is a lefty (or righty for that matter)? or doesn't want to learn bass?
5. You know how in recent years there has been a big push for better food in schools and a load of chefs on telly pushing quality food and cooking as an alternative to fast-food and microwave meals? Do you think we might have something similar for music? Mmm, not sure I'd always agree with the comments about musicbeing entertainment. I'd say that the some music is art. If a performer can be/do both at the same time then you've got someone pretty special.
6. Good topic, we need a bit of positivity sometimes. I dunno about delighted (there's always room for improvement) but pretty damn happy at the moment. Talented and interesting musicians to play with. Get to play music that I've written and people seem to like. Bookings are coming in at a satisfactory rate. Getting some recordings sorted before the end of the year. We don't socialise much because we don't live close to each other which is a shame but we have a good time when we're together. Everyone turns up when they're supposed to and has good input into the music. Fronting the band and doing lead vocals is also pushing me in a good way. Bloody hard work being in charge though, wish the other two would chip in a bit more.
7. Ok, finally arranged a date for a friend of the drummer to come down to help us do some recording. Quite a relief to finally have it in the diary. Just need to borrow some drum mics from somewhere. Working on some material to play as an acoustic duo with my guitarist as well. The idea is to play an open mic night maybe twice a month, make sure to plug the band's name and see if we can get the name out a bit. Bit of fun with maybe some advantages for the band. More practice for my singing voice too.
8. Another day when I haven't picked up a bass. I spent most of the weekend promoting out next gig and adapting some full band songs to be performed with my guitarist as an acoustic duo. Its been interesting to take songs we know well and play them in a totally different way. No bass though
9. good read, good music thanks!

11.
This was for a ska musical and as well as playing I had one scene has a security guard in the Jobcentre with one line - "F**K This!" and yes, a fight scene where the whole band pile in on stage - great fun!
Sounds like a lot of fun
I'm slighty annoyed actually because a simple GK combo isn't really worth posting up on here is it? Ha ha
Its a rig. It counts. Get it up.
14.
We'll see.
Best of luck, starting to write was when I really started to feel I was a musician.
15.
fight scene
Think I've missed something here. You have fight scenes? Please can we have some more detail? I climbed on stage last night at an open mic night to sing and play guitar by myself for the first time. Despite many gigs and a few fronting a band, this was pretty scary. Went ok, didn't play too badly and the organiser asked if I had enough material for a feature (30 min) slot, sadly I don't but I'll be getting something acoustic sorted with my guitarist sometime very soon.
16.
it depends on what came before & what comes next.
this.
17. Welcome to the forum
18. Have a bump on me. Great bits of kit to start you off gigging.
19. yes, it can be incredibly difficult to find suitable musicians for new bands particularly originals bands. I find online adverts can work but I've always found that you've got to wade through masses of shredding guitarists (unless that's what you're looking for of course!) Very tricky if you're not in a big city or want to do something a bit different.
20. Definitely go for putting together your own thing. Means you get to pick the members and lay out your expectations ahead of time.
I'm thinking I might start a blog or something detailing my hunt for new band members and getting it all off the ground. Might be interesting?
yeah, that would be interesting.
ALWAYS go for the cake.
mmmm cake.
21. Excellent. Love my otb and happy to hear that its backed up by such good customer service
22. HZ soapbars in my Schecter. Love them.
23. lovely song and great video. Well done Silddx & Bluejay.
24. bass playing - zero band admin/promotion/booking - loads My time seems to be edging more and more into that area. hmm I did run through some vocal practice while cooking dinner though.
25. it'll be fine. If it turns out you need to play in two tunings during 1 set I'd recommend a Hipshot de-tuner.
