1. Great head with the 12 band graphic, much better than the 7 band and a great combination of cabs to cover the full tonal range but sounds a tad steep on the price. That's just my opinion though.
2.
Hi All, the Jazz has gone but the two others are still waiting on ebay. please bid before I have to sell a kidney...
How much is the kidney? Could be interested.
3. I play in two bands here. One party covers band with the wife and other friends and one classic heavy rock band. I enjoy both but due to the people and not the music. I would rather be in a laid back jazz funk outfit but can't find any players here that don't want to earn €300 each from day one and those gigs don't exist unless you're in Paris and a "name"
4. Joined the long line of fans to meet Marcus Miller after a show and get my T-shirt signed at the Jazz Cafe. I got to him 20 minutes later, said "great gig" He stuck out his hand to shake mine and I was a bit over enthusiastic. I shoved my hand forward, missed, and ended up bending his right thumb backwards.
5.
Sorry to go against the flow here but hold your head up and Gawd gave rock and roll to you were outstandingly brilliant rock pop songs in their day.
+1 And, Russ Ballard was a great songwriter who's also played with a who's who of early Brit pop rockers right back to Adam Faith in the 60's, Colin Blunstone and even Roger Daltrey. Argent were OK in my book and fitted in well at the time.
6. Everybody has their own own reasons for an extended range instrument. For me, it's the option to use lower octaves. I just love low Cs Ds and Bs They shake the room. There are some songs where a D on the 5th fret is not up to the job. I almost exclusively play my 5 or 6 now but will never dump the 4 string because it's the one that's always on a stand in the loungue and gets picked up at least twice a night just for running through stuff that comes into my head or I hear on the telly or whatever.
7. Really nice looking bass but the weird wavy line thing is cack
8. Get a Roscoe Beck V. Passive, but the best 5 string Fender ever made.
9. Won't get fooled again. Serious arse kicker. Last ever drum dep I did in the UK was in Basildon and as I was using a really old Tama kit I had, I decided to do a Mooney on the last number (the above named) and trash the bugger at the end. Went down a storm but got told off by my Mrs in the pub. How rock was that? standing there like a 10 year old getting it in the neck.
10.
Ohh!...Ohhh!...."aint no stoppin us now" by macfadden&whitehead. in its proper key, Bb (well technically G#m I think)
Wouldn't the relative minor of Bb be Gm?
11.
is it Raoul or the King of Spain in your avatar You-Ma? Shout is poptastic stuff Status and Pick goodness IIRC that Black single was lovely CK top vocals for sure Mark E. Smith was never a fan of Tears for Fears though
Ha ha, like it. I've never heard the big JK called The King of Spain. Now there's a career that went downhill overnight.
12. TFF Superb band. I had the 12" ext remix shout. Brilliant. They COULD play. Was also into The Mission. Tower of strength production was up there with the biggest and best. All these songs still stand up today.
13. Middle 8 of Summer of 69. I've heard loads of players miss the D and go back to the Bb instead We are family, verse bass line. The boys are back in town.

Hi

Hi John, Welcom to basschat. I've been through Valkenburg and I reckon your rig is the biggest thing there.
15. Really bizarre. We played at a club that will now close for the winter. They had a guest musician for the break in between our two sets. He was a bassplayer who played along to two recorded club tracks. Both tracks were Em based and he spent 20 minutes peddling C and 5th, D and 5th and E and 5th. Weird. It can only happen in France.
16. There were obviously a few that won't be asked back for a second audition so that's really promising. Hope it works out.
17. I was watching, an early 4 string Overwater on Ebay yesterday. It's now finished. Although it was not my sort of bass, I can't believe it finished at £283.00 Someone got a bargain. Maybe it was a lucky BC'er.
18.
+1 ... ? Z x
Don't understand this thread but good to see you back Zoe.

20. sh*te, and I put my hands up. It was down to me.
21. Used to see a local band in the early 70's with two bassplayers. They were called something like Maladed Brean.
22. Feel for you there. Last week I depped as second guitar to help someone out. Just some pop and rocky blues and Hendrix covers. The guitarist told me he'd been playing for 45 years so I guessed I'd stay back in the mix, expecting some sort of Trower/Malmsteen monster to start up. He totally lost the plot on Can't get enough of your love and then proceeded to tell me it was because he wasn't using his own amp and he can usually play that solo backwards. In fact, that's what it sounded like. Well, you know not to go there again. Stick to musos who are up to your level.
23.
This is exactly what I was thinking. That said Wayne hit the nail too. Learn how to play, sure BUT also learn not playing too. learn about space and letting the music breath. That's my thoughts. I worked with a brilliant bass player once when I was playing a multi-instrumentalist role. We gave him some home demos to record and he didn't play at all on one track! He said it sounded great as it was and didn't want to clutter it. I thought that took real self discipline & I'm still impressed with him for doing that. An extreme example but hopefully food for thought.
Did he still get paid?
24. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2mWPW_7utMI...feature=related Anyone out there familiar with Caseopea? A bit old hat but still cool. I think bass duties are now with Tetsao Sakurai when he's not playing with Greg Howe and Dennis Chambers. This clip is Yoshihiru Naruse.
