1. Quite a collection from someone who calls himmself a beginner. Nice to have you on board.
2. Ged orf moi laand. Welcome to the forum.
3. Nice one, welcome to Basschat.
4.
Its the EB-0. I would prefer it to be picked up, but I suppose its possible to post. I'd probably need to add postage to it though. I would upload pictures, but my camera got nicked in france and my phone can't upload pictures to the computer. Sorry. Hope that helps
For sale. Digital camera. Used. No box. €50
5. I have two. Here they are. What would you like to know?
6. Dave La Rue's sound on any of the Steve Morse band albums (Particularly Stress Fest)
7. Easily done in three simple steps. 1) Decide what you're going to wear. 2) Ask your wife or girlfriend what she thinks, and then change your clothes to her suggestion. 3) Ask her which bass goes best with the final choice of clothes whilst sensitively explaining the cool factor of each bass. My wife says most males over the age of 12 can't be trusted to dress themselves. Male bass players are even worse judging by some of the pics on here. Fortunately, I am one of the lucky ones but, I am writing this whilst she's not here.
8. I found it certainly helped my career as a blues guitarist. All the best, Hoover "twin-tub" Johnson
9. Last night's gig was guitar and vocal duo in a small(ish) restaurant. We did well and will be asked back. Not a bass gig, but enjoyable all the same.
10. Just got back from a birthday party where the band were short of a second guitar (sorry) Coped with about 95% and no rehearsal. Stone Free Imagine Pretty woman White room (for a party??) Whiskey in the jar Long train running Poison ivy Back in the USSR Help the poor Run to you Superstition Wishing well Gimme some loving I'll never get over you Shakin all over Sorrow Can't get enough Feel like making love Jonnie B Goode and the dreaded Hi ho silver lining. Only one I f***ed up on, was the middle eight of I'll never get over you by Johnny Kidd. Could have kicked myself afterwards but there you go, I love the danger of a no rehearsal, on the fly dep. Great fun.
11.
Or use them properly to build a fantastic sound and so people will pay you more anyway..... ;o)
+1 Music is music, so, whatever it takes to make a great sound and be more entertaining.
12.
I knew you'd feel that way.
So did I. (Bilbo about the issue that is)
13. I don't know, but I imagine there's a good chance at least one of the staff there is a member of BC so maybe they'll see the thread and take the hint that they obviously need to clarify their pricing.
14. I use one, fantastic do it all combo and weighs nowt compared to some.
15. I would think a Markbass 2x10 combo would be perfect for you. Not as dear as you think secondhand.
16. Used a WT500 for years and only changed it due to the weight of the whole rig (Eden cabs) Doesn't sound a bad price and highly reliable with tone to die for. Regret selling it now. Many players reverse (and improve) the airflow on the WT range by simply turning the fan round. They even admitted it worked better on the Eden forum.
17. Was sort of expecting a picture or do I have to say "yes, I would"?
18. In about two years time after you've got hooked on the gear and bought a couple of Ampeg 8x10's and a couple of heads, you'll wish you'd stayed with the drums. Welcome.
19. Welcome Gerald, nice to see another member from France AND with a BN5. I also joined to help improve my English, because I'm from Essex.
20. A truly great player and his son is a pretty damn hot drummer too.
21. Get the biggest amp you can afford (S/h Peavey, great value for money) The Combo 300 is a killer. Google any tech/electronics questions you're too embarrased to ask although there's no need to be. Any advice on where to start with theory will be gladly given on the forums here. There are a great number of great players and teachers here. (Not me) Find a band where you actually like the people and the music you're going to be playing Don't ask them what colour you are.
22.
Put them on an MP3 player and listen to the songs until they're embedded in your head, don't over-think them counting etc Get he feel. Then get your bass out.
+1 here. I get all the songs slotted in the brain-box first before I start playing. You should be able to "listen" to the whole song in your head.
23.
Rounds - if I wanted my bass to sound like it was being played in the shed at the bottom of the garden I'd buy a double bass
+1 Rounds. If I wanted my bass to sound like a bass, I'd take lessons.
