  1. No. I have source tracks for every song I've played in a band for the last 20 years. I have them grouped together in sets and can run through the lot at home. It's much more interesting that playing scales and the technical stuff. Only one band leader has said he wants a rehearsal before we resume gigs, and that's for him not the rest of us. I'll get the usual phone call from the others asking, "Can you do the gig", followed by, "See you there".
  2. I must have fallen on my feet with my Sadowsky Metro Jazz. I’ve tried several since an mine sounds more articulated, fuller and warmer. Even better than an NYC that I tried at GuitarGuitar. IMO with the standard manufacturing processes in all components these days, I would expect basses from the same ranges to sound more similar than different. The only significant variance with others from the same range and factory is in the wood. So the wood does seem to have an effect on the tone.
  3. OK, I’ll bite. IMO Barefaced cabs are better designed than your average cabs. Is Trickfish an average cab? I don’t know, like most of us, I’ve never heard one. Eminence provide drivers to BF’s spec, the cabs are tuned exactly to those drivers. The bracing exceeds anything found in other cabs. They are light, loud and have a great tone. Others might have different views, but I have a list of cabs longer than my arm that I have used in the last 20 years and BF are in the top 2.
  4. You select the carrier through their web site, so, as far as I know you only "end up" with the company you selected.
  5. Don't hold your breath. They are currently investigating a new variant in Liverpool, which might not be affected by the vaccines.
  6. I've used Interparcel and Fedex several times and, so far (crosses fingers), never had a problem.
  7. If you stagger the closing times you create a tidal wave of everyone from shutdown area #1 heading for a few more beers in shutdown area #2 etc. You're not going to get away from the bottle-neck which ever way you try to plan it.
  8. July at the earliest, is my guess.
  9. Directing the band is a skill. I do a lot of deps and the gigs that go well are usually lead by a band leader who is good at communicating. I play with one guy who will change the song as he feels and it rarely goes wrong, because he is giving directions all the time. Never a dull moment. The shambolic gigs are usually those where the band leader is trying to direct the band by using a long stare and attempting thought transference.
  10. All you needed was an HPF to stop that excessive cone movement.
  11. I play one bass and have a backup. When I sell a bass it's because it has been replaced by something better or more appropriate.
  12. I know someone who caught Covid off a food delivery from Ocado. We wash or wipe down everything that comes into the house, or if we can't do that, put it away on a shelf for a week.
  13. Imagine what the guy's house looks like!! He's probably turned his underpants inside out for the 5th week in a row.
  14. Paul Herman does servicing and repairs, so email him.
  15. I guess it'll be the suits throwing the legal paper around, but if you lack the brain power to come up with a unique name and instead chose a name that is the exactly same as the original when spoken, you deserve all the trouble you get.
  16. IMO for home use, these amps would sound excellent with a Barefaced One10. On a gig, get a second One10. For a combo, look out for an AER.
  17. Back then this might have been true, but not for a long time.
  18. I bought this. Cliff Bennett had one of the great soul bands playing the pubs and clubs at that time, along with Jimmy James, Geno Washington, Herbie Goins and Zoot Money. Happy days.
  19. These days the best 115 could easily be a 112. Seems like old stereo types are hard to kill off.
  20. Beautiful. If that was a 5 I'd have it.
  21. Another 1980’s Peavey BW115 user here. I never understood why they just put one handle on it!! I also had the 215, the overkill version! That was a nightmare to move and didn’t last long. The best 115 was a Dynacord combo, but for cabs the Mesa RR 115 EV couldn’t be beaten. Loud as flip with the best tone. Damaged my back lifting it but what a great sound.
  22. I understand others have different preferences and I have a one dimensional view. I don't see the point of owning a bass and not gigging it. Since day one I've been playing bass because I want to be in a band and that band must be gigging. All my playing at home is either geared to improving my technique or learning songs for the gig. Re Xotic basses, check out Travis Carlton. He switched from Sadowsky to Xotic, which sparked my interest. They are some of the best sounding basses I've heard, but every last one I've checked out has been over 10lbs. That's a show stopper for me.
  23. I always get the impression that these guys do very little homework and try to get by by being "geezers"! If I had either one as a next door neighbour, I'd have to move.
