  1. On Slap and Tap Stingray seems to stand out as more dynamic and sound I would be looking for if playing that style. Finger playing hard or soft they all sound eerily similar.
  2. I just ordered a set of Ultimate 45-105 and your Video helped me make that decision. I am curious about the the 'Softer feel, bendier claims' for the extra $10 over Groove set😀 Gig's are hard to come by here in Virginia/North Carolina [live by border] USA ; there are some so I am hopeful. I was ambiguous about rehearsals before now their great.
  3. Without finding vintage Swr or Trace amps in great condition. Maybe Mesa Walkabout, everybody loves Mesa's new class D stuff WD-800, TT-800. D-800+. But just a gut feeling may want to listen to Ashdown ABM-1200-EVO IV. I hear you; I used SWR, Trace, and Ampeg SVT with 4,6 or 8x10's back in my prime GREAT STUFF. Then in 2008 I got a Taurus Preamp pedal and Roland D-BASS 115 Active powered Cabinet only 50lbs now in my mid 60's I use a Markbass CMD 121P COMBO 30LBS😀
  4. I have had wide 1.75 chunky Fender'75 P neck, Fender Modern C 1.625 width, Music man 'C' 1.7 width, Music man and Fender Jazz 'C' 1.5 width and now Fender Modern D with 1.625 width. I had no real trouble with any of them [just adapted] my favorite by far is New Modern D on my Ultra P super fast also puts Thumb closer to fingerboard that makes stretching fingers easier. My least favorite is 1.5 width; feels uncomfortable. [1.7 was my favorite width.] I always figured thin 1.5 width necks were for least talented Guitar player in Band they they made Play Bass😁 [ or Guitarist whom came over to the Darkside]
  5. G&L Tribute, Fender offset Mustang at Andertons and Chicago Music Exchange new Fender Steve Harris, American Standard or Performer used G&L Fallout short scale has Humbucker in P spot , have not heard it but may be worth a listen
  6. Highs and Flats seem an Oxymoron.? An aggressive upper midrange may be achievable.
  7. I may be an Idealist but if you prioritize Customers the Money will follow. Doesn't take much effort to allow your talent within company to produce products that would meet their own expectations. Initial profits may be lower but will be more consistent and long lived.
  8. I am not a sticker guy Bass or Car but I can understand stickers maybe on your Bass Case.
  9. It is perplexing. I understand SS Rounds not being many players 'cup of tea' but popular for those who, Tap, Slap and Chord a lot. But with NPS Round or Hex core, and Pure Nickle available allows the Gigging Player much more options of tone with minimal EQ and ability to cut through or just blend in mix same with recording. [thump or pop] Most 'Flaters' seem very content and their preferences are just as valid as mine but like you I don't [and haven't in past] seen many top local Rock, pop, RnB Bassist using Flats live
  10. Fender 7250M 45-105 hex core roundwound Why? Because they came with Bass😀 and I am happy with their sound and feel
  11. Those are all 'Nice looking' Basses and of decent quality, be nice if you could audition all of them. I would lean to Yamaha if auditioning is not in the equation. You could hedge your bet [albeit more cash] by taking a look at what Gretsch and Guild have to offer. [similar style]
  12. Try low tension flats from LaBella or TI. To much tension can be a problem. If you prefer Rounds try with Round Core [not Hex] and light gauge 40-95/100
  13. All Fenders MIM or MIA including Ultra's and Custom shop come with Fender Super Bass 7250M 45-105 strings. They may not be everyone's 'cup of tea' but far from rubbish. All You Tube sound samples from Fender and Retail stores using them wouldn't be smart to market good to great basses with 'Rubbish Factory strings'. What Factory strings are you referring to, maybe there was a time they used inferior string on MIM basses?
  14. Lots of choices; Markbass, GR Bass, barefaced w/nano/micro type head, Genzler to name a few
  15. The SBMM 34QM has the 1.5" smaller 'width' neck [standard has 1.7] not sure if it's 'thinner.'
  16. I had same problem with 2018 SBMM Stingray 34QM. Constantly adjusting neck relief; Bass was in climate controlled environment at all times. After a few months it did get longer between adjustments; once or twice a month as opposed to once or twice a week.
  17. To do a proper A/B TEST you should use equipment of the subject whom is familiar with its sound also in this case playing his instrument. Any other method there will be to many variables and to call these scientific well...... As with my vehicle I drive daily I can tell when something doesn't sound or feel right, you could get 10 subjects whom have never driven my car and there is a good chance they would sense nothing wrong. So scientifically there is nothing wrong until the very slight whine I heard becomes a broken hub on my way to work. I can clearly hear how an accessory[such as cable], new preamp/amp etc effects or not MY SYSTEM/RIG
  18. I got a Ultra precision in December; Plasma Red but that Texas Tea is a great finish. I can attest the Overall Quality and feel is inline with it's price. The 'D' neck with compound radius is fantastic; great playability. I checked out the usual suspects EBMM, G&L, Lakeland all great Basses. Wanted to check out Sandberg and Sadowsky Metro express but never found one to try. The Ultra fit my needs and I got a great price along with Plasma Red caught my eye. To late now; but I will try to chase down a Sandberg P or PJ Configured and give it a play based on what I have heard here. It is a nice feature you can configure your own
  19. I I use to do exactly that😀 The theory is based on isolation. Music is vibrations and any unwanted vibrations is deemed distortion. Why many isolate all Stereo gear with cone type and other isolation devices; so just to be safe might as well isolate Speaker wire. Isolation of Bass gear can be productive used sensibly Yes this can become like a religious experience, searching for higher forms of Spiritual meditation [To hear God more clearly with less distortion😏]
  20. I have been using bass trainer 2 for 10 years very useful for key changes, looping specific parts and has a set tap rewind. plus many more features I don't use. Also has aux in. Sounds adequate. But I am an old timer and only have a desktop computer so it is more convenient with the Tascam to take anywhere in house to use for comfort. I am sure there are excellent Computer APP's for practice purposes as stated by 'Fretmeister'
  21. PS: After doing some investigating Fender 7250's are 'Hex' core any many feel Hex core strings are stiffer than round core both flats and rounds. But with internet info being so ambiguous...........
  22. The 7250M 45-105 came with my Ultra Precision They seem a little stiffer than EB Super Slinky [comparing D and G] 45-100 And more flexible than EB Cobalt Flats 45-100. To be honest when playing I never had 'that' thought, wow these are stiff for rounds; until I read this thread.😀
