  1. Or someone will buy one of those 'Expensive' Brands and tell every one how great they are, and You will shake your head, Smile indulgently and go on buying one of those 'Cheap' Brands😀 Of course everyone's opinion matters [including yours] to someone somewhere sometime.
  2. The SR2400 Retails for 1499us. I sold an amp to a very talented local Bass Player and he used SR2400 to check it out; The Bass sounded great also was finish and built seemed top notch in price range. So your offer seemed fair based on #1180 , you should be able to get minimum 25-30% off street price on any used piece of equipment no matter how 'Mint'; since patience's and/or good negotiating skill can get you 15-20% off Brand New on production equipment.

Those would be my Number 1 and 1A had both; but now 35lbs max; at this time using Markbass CMD 121P [with NY 121 just in case. hasn't been needed yet] But getting the itch to try Barefaced or GRBASS Aerotech 25lbs for 2x12 or 33lbs for 4x10 worth a listen Barefaced Big Baby 2 from what I am told [by them😀] can compete with a 2x12 or 4x10 ; then there is always the Super Twin at 37lbs [cloth] Amp's to drive Cab'; Take a listen to Mesa D-800, Markbass Vintage D2, GK Legacy/Fusion, Ashdown ABM 600, GRBASS One 800, Fender Bassman 800HD, Orange OB1-500 to start😀 [CMD 121P and NY 121 should sell quickly.]
  4. If you plan on using amp your string options are wider. I asked this question to D'Addario and was told to be careful with tension, they recommended their light strings[40-95 I believe] as I have bridge pins on my Takamine. I use my AEB for noodling or practicing on couch and will never use plugged in. I have learned how to play with less string noise from Bronze D'Addarios that came with Bass plus they have aged some; BUT still annoying, so I ordered and just received GHS Pressurewound Bronze was told less string noise low tension [light gauge] and no loss of Acoustic volume; which in how I use is important. If I was plugging in I would check out LaBella LTF's should be no squeaks I have not put GHS on yet, I will get a local Luthier to do it first time; [and watch]The bridge pins and seating string ball properly scare the crap out of me😀

Plug speakon to female 1/4 adaptor into spare amp then get 2/3ft Male 1/4 to female 1/4 speaker cable; Plug male end into adapter and plug male end coming out of 121p speaker into female end of speaker cable. If I read you right the spare amp is combo speaker out so you can just get speaker cable male/female ends. If you want 2 cabs get 1/4 Y-Adaptor and 2 speaker cables, There may be speakon to 1/4 Y adapter available? if you prefer Speakon

  7. Markbass CMD 101 [Marcus Miller Signature] has Headphone out and Aux in that may be useful. Can add another cab for small or lower volume gig's. LM 250 With Ashdown 10" will give you small/medium club gig ability by adding another cab. As long as you like the Cab sound as compared to MB.
  8. Haven't heard the 'New' SBMM STINGRAY RAY4 [replaced Sub] but older models sounded good and would work for styles mentioned. G&L Kiloton Tribute may be worth a listen.
  9. I have exact same settings on Action but .010 relief. Feels good/right for me, I consider these settings Low but not super low like many enjoy.
  10. Markbass NY121; I have experience with that Cab and know it will do what you need and fits requirements. IMO has great tone and punch and always sounds excellent when I hear it[or 121 combo] in live situations with various Basses, Music types and mixes. Saying that the others may be fine also, Rumble, GK and Ampeg have their dominant sound and are 'OK/Good' in live mixes but always sound like themselves [so to speak] regardless of player, Bass and Music but one 'may be your cup of tea'. Have not heard Markbass 151 or Ashdown 2x10
  11. It seems like you took your own advice based on reception of Amps you designed/engineered I would go for one; if it has a Tube stuck in the middle and not a Digital Chip😀
  12. IMHO Harley Benton is just as much a Brand as SBMM maybe even more so 'Branded'; they also make Amps now. We all love our brands in everything[Frozen Pizza, Toilet paper, Cigarettes, Basses, Amps etc.] sometimes for good reason; oh who am I kidding we are just a bunch of Snob's, cheapest/store brands are always the best😀

  15. Are you talking about older Ernie Ball Musicman American Sub? If not and it is Sterling by Musicman Sub [Indonesian] now called Stingray4; They are good sounding and built well for their Price. I prefer over Squires but the multitude of 'Squire Boys' may respectfully disagree😀 Might also want to checkout SBMM Stingray24CA

Then call me stupid, it is somewhat impolite though😀 If I played with a Cover band in which a pedal was needed for certain songs or original band and was looking for particular tone on a few songs; I would most likely look into a Digital multi pedal unit with presets and only plug into it when needed when playing live or recording. The rest of the time would be 'Stupid Purist' PS; I understand you were calling the 'Act' stupid not the person

  20. I hear what the OP is trying to express. I don't use pedals but I have a 'Purist complex' [same with home audio] and I am a tad OCD about it. But I have seen and heard more than a few Great Bassist with full pedal boards sound great; most likely because they know how to use them. I did borrow a distortion pedal for 1 song we did by Muse 'Starlight' but latter just cranked gain, bass mid and treble on amp worked fine😀 I also am aware Civility is extinct in current times and rudeness and mocking is justified behind the self deception of 'it was just my opinion' and weak denial of Obvious context. Kinda cowardly IMO😀 I am also very capable of rudeness and mocking but own it and will apologize if forced. That said I apologize for 'Cowardly Comment' s was unnecessary.

  22. Which P Sound? There have been many nuance differences over the years [build, woods, necks, pickups, manufactures etc.] There is a 'know it when you hear it' general overall sound and everybody has their favorites and anything minutely different is not authentic in their ears.
  23. You noticed too, well said. This G string thing seems perplexing been in uncountable threads for decades and seems real to those who rant about it; but you may have something there. I have used a Stingray and Reflex with no problems with G but I never 'Max' anything in real use but I did sometimes for brief moments when noodling; didn't pay enough attention to notice G string performance
  24. If Dad has to tune it.... we are talking infant stage. My advice is to not give advice; let Dad make buying decision; if something goes wrong/awry well you know.....
