I’m way late… NYE was a private party at our mate Malc’s place, Langtoft Fen, way out in the flatlands. Great: a captive / friendly audience and we had them dancing all night. Good sound too, even if I do say so myself. Even with plugs I was ringing after 9-12:15 with a couple of breaks. A little three piece gig this coming Saturday, just back line and a vocal mon. Looking forward to it, haven’t played without a second guitar and keyboard for ages!

Lol. Our drummer is loud but not enough to justify a screen, though I’d be up for that. Everyone always drowned out by two badly EQ’d guitar combos. Just how it is with the boys in my band!

Is the P&C (one of) the pedals Chris W uses on Muse’s Plug In Baby? If so, wicked sound. I will get one someday…

Lots to like in this photo. GK rules. And a sunburst strat with a bridge humbucker into a Mesa? Shut up and take my money already!!
-
Does it need a full refret? I’ve only played one bass long enough to refret, and that only needed the bottom 7 doing. My local guy (Jon Haire, Peterborough, genius) charges by the fret, suspect others probably do as well.

You’ve made me spend some time with my settings again this evening. I think I’ve been squashing too much… backed off the ratio and raised the threshold a little, see how that sounds on Saturday!

That’ll do you fine, good choice! They also sell DC cables with many plugs on them if you need to power more
-
It is a great pedal. Noiseless and tone neutral, love mine. It only needs 15mA so pretty much anything will power it! Obvs the standard boss style centre negative dc Jack.

Wait now: there’s a proper bass line for Slade’s Merry Xmas?!?! 😝 That one, WhamLastXmas, Run Run Rudolph and Mud Lonely This Xmas are on the list for me. One band’s rehearsed them, the other one hasn’t because we can do anything after enough beer.
-
Yes yes yes. Big dumb downstrokes and maybe a touch of dirt/grit and THAT’S what yer need from a pick.
-
I’ve only tried the rounds once… no rust for me but think well before putting them on anything with a maple board… turned quite black! They sounded utterly phenomenal - just too aggressive for the context of the five piece band somehow. If my little three piece starts up again I’ll likely throw them on a bass with a rosewood board and live with a bit of staining, coz like @HazBeensays the sound really is worth it!

Tonight! Private party with the 5 piece covers band. Without the singer/rhythm guitarist… covid! This’ll be interesting. Drinking much honey and lemon. Many vocalzone tablets. But death or glory, he who dares wins Rodney etc

Nice board! C4 is great but… without midi control you’re limited to 6 sounds (with a press of the Alt button). Adding midi control requires a controller (guess the stomp can do that) AND something to provide the C4 with Host (which I don’t think the Stomp can do). SA are supposed to be (soon-ish) releasing a 5 pin DIN to TRRS cable which is supposed to allow Host connection. Just worth bearing in mind!

Dunlop Tortex Triangle for me. Not a pick player: but when I do 1mm for heavy downstroke, 0.60mm for fast stuff/it’s the end of the night and my finger tips are killing me 😝

Don’t know on that score… that’s wasn’t a thing when I ordered. I get the in and out easy enough without!

Very much what @chris_bsaid! I got mine too late for my left ear, sadly. I think the 17 filters will be fine for the OP’s application. Suspect that’s what I’ve got!
-
I use ACS moulded. Years old, don’t know the filter rating but will see if I can find it. I know they’re even attenuation across the spectrum. I love them. Moulded are night and day compared to off the shelf. All plugs take time get used to. Stick with them, sing and play with them in a lot. Couple of tips before fitting: get your ears syringed and cleaned out a couple of weeks beforehand. Seriously. And whilst you’re getting a fitting, get a hearing test to baseline you and allow the fitter to advise on filters.

The extras are a pain with the C4 for sure, if you want to take it beyond six stored presets. I went Morningstar and neuro hub. Endlessly flexible, but expensive. The Mobile app plus usb cable is a good option for quick edits on the fly eg during rehearsal. And mapping functions you might need to tweak (bass; master vol etc) to control knobs per preset helps (I have a standard eg bass is always bottom left or whatever). It’s a great pedal but it does need the tech overlay to make it viable really. I don’t know how you’d ever make a proper synth pedal work without some sort of editor, really

Cannot go wrong with a proper Rat. Lovely things. Gotta be in the top 20 pedals of all time IMHO

Love posts like these. The answer is always “buy a bigger board and just add the new pedal(s)”… but we all make a half-hearted attempt at being sensible 😇
