"Andy Rourke's bass setup Andy Rourke's bass setup was a blend of his personal preference and the needs of the band. Here are some of the key components of his bass setup: Bass Guitar: Rourke primarily used the Fender Precision Bass and Fender Jazz Bass. The 1964 Fender Precision Bass in sunburst was his main bass used with The Smiths, purchased by Seymour Stein in 1984. Strings: He used Rotosound RS66LC Stainless Steel Bass Strings (40-95) for his performances. Amplifier: His amplifier of choice was the Yamaha BB2000. Effects: Rourke often used a Boss CE-2 chorus and sometimes a Boss GE-10 EQ. Tuning: His basses were tuned up to F# in the early days of The Smiths, and he used a dedicated F# bass for older songs alongside a bass in standard E tuning. Rourke's bass setup was a testament to his skill and the unique sound he brought to The Smiths. His playing style was characterized by its smooth, sophisticated, and bottom-heavy sound, which complemented the intricate melodies of Morrissey and Johnny Marr. "

Sixty-odd quid is fairly reasonable to see a "name" band these days. I don't think they make as much money from selling music these days, thanks to streaming services, so have to make it from touring, which can't be cheap to do.

I watched a youtube video where someone made a knife from a load of old strings. I think it might have been a collaboration with Daisy Tempest.

I cut through the cable of a hedge clipper I was using, once. So glad I had a plug-in RCD. -
Here are ten of the best houses Rod Stewart has built. Number six will shock you.

Ibanez RG 1989 Made in Japan - Almost perfect but one glaring flaw...

Some hairspray rock bands would still have been alive and well around '89; the Likes of Poison, for example. Unfortunately for them, a certain band from Seattle upset the apple cart a mere two years later. -
Tell them you will pick them all up on the way to the next gig, but don't. Then replace them all with new band members.

Stiff Little Fingers last night at their annual homecoming gig. I missed Sham69 unfortunately. PiL were also in support. They were OK, but I was never a big fan. Ali McMordie sounded monster, as always. Near the end, they brought on Rory Gallagher's bassist, Gerry McAvoy, for a cover of Gallagher's "The Devil Made Me Do It", which sounded great.

What do you do when your music career is over?
Crusoe replied to NancyJohnson's topic in General Discussion
Well, personally, when my music career ended, I finished my A-Levels, left school, went on the dole for a few weeks and then got a job. 😄 -
Remastered doesn't mean its any better
Crusoe replied to Jean-Luc Pickguard's topic in General Discussion
I know bugger all about music production. What is the difference between remixing a track and remastering it?
