  1. I'm watching an old episode of Jonathan Creek and it made me think of this thread. Maddie walks into a studio where a band are rehearsing and a minute or so later three guys walk in with four pizzas. They were the drummer, bassist and guitarist and the singer had replaced them in the 20 minutes it took for them to go out and get the pizza. 😄
  2. I have a soldering iron that has been used once. One Christmas, my daughter got a toy tattoo gun as a present, but it didn't work. When I opened it up, I could see that one of the connections had broken, so I bought a £12 soldering iron from B&Q and fixed it. Never used it again. As I recall, the tattoo gun also only got used once. 😄
  3. 40 years and the after effects of the drugs probably haven't helped.
  4. All the very best with the venture!
  5. Yeah, Pride and Prejudice and a Mills and Boon 😄
  6. Stiff Little Fingers - White Christmas
  7. Mazzy Star - Fade Into You
  8. Is this a new variation on Godwin's law? 😄
  9. I didn't know whether to post this here or in the Danny Sapko thread 🤣 https://youtube.com/shorts/AFTY4R65Fpo?si=vjzhtI3mhATyP9SB
  10. It's good, isn't it? Puts me in mind of Lush.
  11. I'm completely with you about the ornate basses 😄 Just not for me. I don't think I'd call Wetherspoons food very good value. Maybe just good value - they never give you enough chips. I love The Smiths, but Morrissey is a knob. As for Coldplay, they can do one. 😁
  12. I could have sworn that I watched this series on Netflix.
  13. Well done! (Now, can you play "Hit Me With Your Rhythm Stick" on it? 😄)
  14. I can't believe no one has mentioned Andy Rourke yet. I was watching a video clip of the Smiths live, playing Barbarism Begins at Home and Johnny Marr set his guitar down so that he and Morrissey could dance to Andy's bass line.
  15. Welcome Tiger!
  16. Welcome!
  17. 😄 I didn't even notice that bit. I did copy and paste the AI result of a Google search, but only because I was in a rush. I don't know how it managed to get the Yamaha as an amp. If you follow the link that it used for the info, it gives Peavey and Trace Elliott for his amps and further down the list, the Yamaha as one of his basses. interestingly, he also used a Squier Precision, according to the source website.
  18. "Andy Rourke's bass setup Andy Rourke's bass setup was a blend of his personal preference and the needs of the band. Here are some of the key components of his bass setup: Bass Guitar: Rourke primarily used the Fender Precision Bass and Fender Jazz Bass. The 1964 Fender Precision Bass in sunburst was his main bass used with The Smiths, purchased by Seymour Stein in 1984. Strings: He used Rotosound RS66LC Stainless Steel Bass Strings (40-95) for his performances. Amplifier: His amplifier of choice was the Yamaha BB2000. Effects: Rourke often used a Boss CE-2 chorus and sometimes a Boss GE-10 EQ. Tuning: His basses were tuned up to F# in the early days of The Smiths, and he used a dedicated F# bass for older songs alongside a bass in standard E tuning. Rourke's bass setup was a testament to his skill and the unique sound he brought to The Smiths. His playing style was characterized by its smooth, sophisticated, and bottom-heavy sound, which complemented the intricate melodies of Morrissey and Johnny Marr. "
  19. Sixty-odd quid is fairly reasonable to see a "name" band these days. I don't think they make as much money from selling music these days, thanks to streaming services, so have to make it from touring, which can't be cheap to do.
  20. "Hello Nottingham! I just need to nip out for a part, but I'll be done within the hour when I get back. This is Moonchild! 1, 2, 3, 4..."
  21. Just do what the Ramones did. Finish song, 1,2,3,4 start song...
  22. Groovy man! 🤩
  23. I watched a youtube video where someone made a knife from a load of old strings. I think it might have been a collaboration with Daisy Tempest.
