  1. One band who's Bass stood out in the '80s was overkill. Dd verni..very underrated IMHO . Used to like overkill , full on thrash , vocals were erratic tho'. A bit marmite ,) Must say tho' in the mid '80s onwards , the bass got more defined and dear I say trebly,) Production changed I think in a lot of ways.
  2. I use line 7 podfarm via ux1 hardware , into mac mini .
  3. Nice bass! But what leschirons said. Also, its holiday time for many. It will be sold, but it will take a bit longer
  4. Well , I just won bid on eBay for rps-10 pitch shifter delay. I made a final bid of£80.01at lunchtime. Somebody placed a maximum bid of£80.00 mid afternoon, meaning I win bid by a penny!, Will try to get the others in series, then sell my effects in the coming weeks.
  5. Saw a delay unit on the bay. 6 hours or so to go. I'm the highest bidder . If it goes above £80, which it should , then i won't bid anymore on it.
  6. Would've thought , you'd be better off buying a bass pod instead.
  7. Yeah, I was kinda thinking around£60 each. I already. have effects , but this looks cool. If I got these (delay chorus etc) I'd sell my effects.
  8. Yeah, just been looking on the bay. Saw a couple of you tube clips, and they look good. Cheers
  9. Yes , thats the thing I'm thinking of. Sorry to hear about the accident. ( they look nice and tidy.
  10. discontinued now . Originally made in the 80's? I was wondering if they are /were any good. Has anybody got any here ? I like the fact that they ate compact enough to fit on my desktop, and look uncomplicated to use . (unlike my me8b). On the other side of the coin, I have a line 6 podfarm installed on my mac mini.is it best to forget about boss and stick to that instead? Cheers
  11. Thanks charic. I've got logic express. Haven't been recording long, so I avoided it. Will look into it, when I feel brave enough to.)
  12. just thought of something. St. Anger...I need to buy a new frying pan .
  13. Cliff played basic guitar pedals in them days I think,) don't think bass effects picked up until the 80s now there are sooo many,)
  14. Just thought about GarageBand on the iPad . Think I'll probably be better off using that. )
  15. There's me thinking reload is probably the worst album they did. I remember once when they played Wembley arena for the first time. (Think it was an added date on the justice tour)anyway, the sound was muddy at best. Jason played a pretty Inaudible solo, which sounded like a buffalo being slaughtered. Jason was awesome in every other gig I saw him in tho'. As for cliff, I asked him about his sound. He just said 'get a phaser' ,)
  16. I've been noodling around on soundcloud , over the last couple of months, and the enthusiasm is slowly increasing.I have ipad, mac mini, effect units, and of course..basses. I've been using my oxygen usb keyboard, which has spent most of its life stuck behind a door.) (was a bit dismayed when I found out only today that I can't use it as a sampler..duh!) So I cannot plug my bass in the back>) Anyway, if I did get one, I would assume it would take some time for me to get to grips with it. I think there is an app that acts like a sampler, but I don't know how complicated it is. Can anyone help? cheers
  17. Interesting thread. After getting fed up of playing in covers bands, I've started recording bits and bobs on soundcloud. I've only just started a couple of months ago, and am enjoying that. I did enjoy playing live, but after regular rehearsals(other than when other band members couldn't make it) I was often playing in front of one man and his dog.) Then you had to keep looking for pubs, chasing them up etc.. I was thinking of starting a 'band' , where a group of us jam/rehearse and instead of gigging ,we do you tube stuff instead. People would probably think I'm mad,) , as all people I've played with in the past got bored of rehearsing and wanted to get 'out there'
  18. Ugh! Cheap imitation of original
  19. Thanks alot guys,) btw , may as well tell you how/why I ended up with so many basses . 1st proper bass:Washburn Had a hohner cricketbat(couldn't afford Steiney at the time) Then fret less many years later. Then I got real steiny. As I was listening to alot of metal playing low notes, got the schecter 5. My friend Chris at ch guitars, was getting his business started so I got 6/i8 string. He later got me the bass on my avatar,) Got tele bass o eBay , as the band hated my headless. Will probably keep it as when I sold my cliff button autographs , I said I'd get a real bass for em. Finally, the dean taxi bass, rare and I got a great deal on fleabay. Now my thoughts are that I may not get much cash back for some basses,so may exchange for some easy to use moog effects(replacing my fx units in the meantime) Hope that wasn't too exhausting to read,)
  20. Thanks for the good advice,)keep it going. I should've pointed out that I do have interface(GarageBand/logic express which I need to d0 more with)and studio monitors.the basses are all different(5/6string which I hardly use/fret less etc. some are expensive/rare some cheap ish. I suppose I'll always use a bass so will keep 1or2. When recording I play through my mac mini. Haven't used the Aguilar stuff for ages. May be therapeutic for me,)
  21. Believe it or not ,this isn't a doom n gloom thread.) I was just thinking , I have 9 basses , a lovely Aguilar amp setup, effects units which I don't use enough. 9 basses! Not greed , but. after years of not doing anything, I was doing loads for the next7-8years Since I got the iPad (itt was a toss up between that and a kaossilator), I started attempts at recording things on soundcloud(user name mellowcat) I doubt very much that I'll be doing the band thing anymore . I wasn't sure about the recording side of things, but although it takes time , I enjoy it . Mostl of the stuff I've been recording has been from the kaossilator app on iPad. Thinking of getting korg wavedrum as a present to myself at some stage. May even sell everything and learn the moog stuff. What are your thoughts ?
  22. Paul! I have to tell you something strange. About 7 years ago , I was walking near Holborn tube station and a nice chap approached me. ( I was on my way to Putney for band rehearsal.) Anyway, this band was looking for a bass player. and I was given a business card.It was for your band . Not the kind of stuff I play , but your band is very good and whoever goes will enjoy it,)Very talented!! Have a bump , and I will see you one of these days Cheers
  23. Glad things are looking up for you. But I think the others have already given you some sound advice,)
