Some won't have heard this...
Bend your strings at 90 degrees before cutting to length to remove the risk of the windings unravelling.

Having been in the alternative positions of (a) playing a song twice and (b) playing a song that we jammed once or twice a couple of weeks ago
I'd say ideally a band knows what it's encore will be and is prepared not to play it if they don't go down well... even if that scenario is wildly unlikely.

Phil Cambell and the Bastard Sons - if they find a new vocalist?
Thunder?
Black Star Riders?
Or am I being naive?

Writing on those Teflon O-rings won't stick, it'll rub off with the brush of a finger.
It's Teflon, the stame stuff that's on non-stick fry-pans.
The quickest way to make 'mods' that don't affect playability or sound is to just forego them 😀
Nylon, which absorbs permanent marker really well and it doesn't come off.
Would be a poor application for teflon.

Airbourne come to mind, shamelessly aping the AC/DC sound.
Don't Airbourne has at least one ex-AC/DC musician on board?
They don't so much ape AC/DC as do what they would have done if they hadn't shamelessly followed the money.

Best wishes, Blue, hope it all goes well.

@Stub Mandrel Wow, a rare all original vintage white Deathburger ! And one finger picking, ... just like me. 😎
No longer either of those I'm afraid! It's very decorated and I use lots of fingers now 🙂
I am tempted to strip it back and wrap it in Carbon Fibre viny - but it's a bit fo an awkward shape.

Have you got the B2 stubs, what’s your opinion
Back in the day I twice took it and my Fender Performer along to a recording studio.
Both times sound engineer thought it was active beacuse of the huge output and insisted I used the Hohner over the performer.
My first band in 1987, through a borrowed amp and my 15" speaker cab. Ignore fretless, I soon switch to thw B2:

Quick question, on the Hohner B2 Style basses, I’m guessing they don’t have a truss rod, can you still get a really low action on them
Yep, truss rod.
Mine probably has the lowest action of all my basses.

Please cut and paste and add yourself and your gear to the list...
I think at least five for six folks have missed this bit!
I suspect gear lists are not essential other than for whetting appetites, but the organisers will need an idea of numbers and going through 20 pages counting up the 'I'll come' posts and deducting the 'I'm not coming now' ones, after carefully checking to see if there are any a duplicates or cancels which weren't actually booked could be something of a Herculean task 🙂

Latest attendance/gear list. Feel free to update if necessary.
1. @Frank Blank‘s No Longer Acoustic Corner - Rob Allen Mouse, ACG Harlot SC, ACG Recurve SS, Ibanez SRC6, QSC K12.2, Helix Stomp, HX Edit, bike-park.
2. @Rich - Shuker custom 5, Tanglewood acoustic 4 - both basses strung with nickel Elixirs. Korg Pandora (if I can find the feckin thing) and headphones.

4. @scrumpymike - Setting aside a bunch of FS stuff to give SW Bashers first shot and minimise packing and shipping work/costs. Unless cash flow dictates earlier sale, this will include: a couple of BF cabs (either SC Gen 3s or Two10s, to be decided); BF One10; Maruszczyk Elwood 30" scale; Spector Bantam if still unsold (already posted FS); Eden WT550 if still unsold (already posted FS); Ampeg PF800. 'Keepers' also on display will be: the other pair of BF cabs; my no. 1 gig bass 'Rascal Mervyn-Lyte; 'Rascal Lyte Mkll - provided I can decide what it's going to be in time for AndyJr to build it; my no 1 gig amp (Subway 800+); my old no 1 gig amp (Genzler Magellan 800). All of which will hopefully bring forward the day when Mrs Scrumpy can finally join her old man in retirement 😁
5. @Pea Turgh - My Frankenstein Jazzguarman(!) strung with D’Addario XL Chrome flats. My black bitsa (same strings). Probably my Peterson combo which I’ll flit between selling and not selling (still).
6. @stevie - Ibanex SR1200-VNF, Ashdown RM500, BCbass 112, plus some other bass cab developments (probably)
7. @yorks5stringer - Gretsch Electromatic, Markbass CMD101 Micro Marcus Miller
8. @Andyjr1515 - Not yet sure what I will be bringing except my athletic physique and chiselled good looks (and if you believe that.... )
9. @stewblack - Trace Elliot Rig of Death. Ric inspired 'tributes' various amps and basses for sale unless they shift here first. A hernia (probably).
10. @basstone - For Sale refurbished Marshall DBS200 combo fitted with beyma 12" speaker. BC v3 cab with G&K MB500 amp. '78 Fender fretless jazz bass with rotosound nylon coated strings. Probably plus one other bass TBD
11. @Woodinblack - Ibanez 5 string (not decided which), Chapman stick railboard, Chapman NS/Stick, Probably TC450, BC 112 Speaker.
12. @Chienmortbb - BC112 speaker, Bugera Mosfet amp, Fender Aerodyne and/or Greg Bennett semi acoustic bass ( might sell if the offers are right). I may even bring my homebrew 500 watt amp designed in conjunction with @Passinwind if finished.
13. @Cuzzie - tbc
14. @MoJoKe - whatever demo gear is left over from the month before (Manchester Bass Show), so will definitely have my Casa rig, probably the new Vintage D2 head (which I am thinking of selling the Casa to buy... it’s that good!), and I'll try and bring Markbass instruments and some packs of the new Markbass strings to give away
15. @olipaulo - Basses: Fender Elite Jazz, Status Empathy 5 and PRS SE Kestrel. Combos: Markbass CMD 151P, SWR LA15, GK MB112-ii and GK MB212-ii (the last three are for sale so they may be missing from the bash). Helix LT & IEMs
16. @sbrag - tbc
17. @Triumph_Rock - tbc
18. @Richard Jinman - tbc
19. @Stub Mandrel - Fender Performer, Deathburger (sublime to the ridiculous) maybe another bass and an amp.

Joyo XVI
Polyphonic, immaculate tracking, great sound and a 'modulation' knob that provides some nice bonus sounds.

Me too, not being super flash is easily forgiven if you know all the songs!

Any advice?
Be joyous!
Playing with musicians who offer sympathetic and constructive advice and ideas in a supportive way are the best bandmates, regardless of who is the best musician (very few people will admit to being the best musician in a band - especially as we all have different ideas of what is good!)

The memories of Lars denying thrash (as early as 1988) had me thinking fondly of this BBC Arena documentary, which I watched countless times as a youth. I still have the old VHS tape of it somewhere. It's well worth 60 minutes of your time if you like the heavier side. Great days.
I shall watch that tomorrow when I can have the volume up, but it seems suitably Spinal Tap 🙂

Playback is not their thing for sure. 🤣
I love the wine bottle fiddling by a ... wine seller : excellent way to loop a loop.
Loved the Stranglers until Hugh Cornwell departure.
That said, Muse (that I don't like at all because they have just copy-paste Ultravox! and never cited them as an "influence") have taken the playback joke a step ahead with great fun up to the interview...
On the subject of 'Inspired by' I always thought there's a touch of the Dr Who Theme in that one...
Is British rock and metal now a cottage industry?

I don't see the likes of Taylor Swift and Lady Gaga struggling to fill stadia.
So why has rock, which is still popular, not got mass appeal any more?
