  1. That makes me feel better!
  2. Aha!! That's why these things are called $$! I always wondered what a "Double Dollar" style bass meant. 🤦‍♂️
  3. Some of those are great! Some however I cannot imagine being seen dead with: https://axedecals.com/shop/guitar-skins/religious/good-vs-evil-guitar-wrap-skin/
  4. Love the energy on the track and that little run down on the guitar part. 🕺
  5. My interface usually reports 63ms latency, but I was still out and estimated the total to actually be about 80. So I untick the "Use audio driver reported latency" and put in 80ms. That seems consistent, certainly more consistent than my playing! Reaper is fantastic VFM, you can install it on up to 5 machines for non-simultaneous use, and the license covers you for all the revisions of one major update.
  6. @owen, have you been watching "Paint Your Wagon?" (ignore the Spanish subtitles)
  7. I have had this for 40 years, ruddy nuisance! The best solution I find is to stay warm all over, if your core is warm then you don't get the trigger signal to shut down the circulation in your extremeties. Warm hat, gilet, good shoes - all make as much difference as gloves.
  8. Welcome aboard! Love the back of this bass!
  9. Morning, and welcome to the forums. Hopefully you'll still enjoy some semblance of university life despite "C-what-must-not-be-named" And if you can't get to the Uni bar because of the afore-mentioned, then blowing your loan on the marketplace here instead means at least there's something to show for it 😁
  10. https://youtu.be/dQw4w9WgXcQ Ricky's Ashes.
  11. Could it be a "Hofnerfaker"? Actually made in Terry's Dad's shed in late '66 because the music shop couldn't get hold of the real thing? Loving this thread, both for the build and the research.
  12. If the air guitar is very long scale indeed it can incorporate real live swifts.
  13. Paint it to match the Father Christmas on the sideboard!
  14. There is another video somewhere, I'll look for it. I only play a 4, but quickly fell into sliding my thumb down the strings similar to this. This wasn't the video that gave me the idea.
  15. The video here is a bit longer, but shows some quite astonishing work. https://www.shapertools.com/en-gb/origin/overview
  16. I read that and went What the...? But as described it sounds awesome. How does it know where it is? Are there tracking wheels so it knows (like reverse stepper motors)? How do you position it in the right place on the workpiece? Do you begin with a datum point on the body somewhere and go from there? Or three datum points to define the plane? So many questions!!
  17. And rather good it looked too!
  18. Thanks, I must have missed the bit that said the chip was moving.
  19. Why would it move, if it isn't doing so now and will have the fretboard glued on top? Or are you just being ultra careful and removing it to replace do you KNOW it won't move?
  20. Ignorant of Solihull here. Why do you need to remove that piece of wood? The neck is functional as it is, I thought the intention was only to replace the fretboard. What have I missed?
  21. Maybe worth contacting Wal and asking? You're being totally honest in replacing the board so everyone knows it's not a 100% Wal, they may well be inclined to help make it sound good as it still has their name on the headstock.
  22. But the precise positioning of the shinto plane, the 6.5mm drill and the luthier's left leg remains a mystery to the uninitiated. I know, I tried it with a stuck bolt, recited "FFS Come off", and the clock fell off the wall
  23. Edited the post above to put a disclaimer on and protect the thread. Not sure it helps TBH. End of thread derail - back to the magnificent Andy and his amazing 6.5mm tool and steady hands.
  24. There's a can-do attitude on both sides! It's a bit late, but could we get @Andyjr1515 to fix Brexit too? (Not that I am suggesting @Andre_Passini's bridge is in any way like that particular shambles)
