  1. Couldn't you do something a bit simpler with two drills rather than one at a carefully managed shallow angle? The first is straight though the body, starting from where the strap button will go, running under the bridge and to the pickup cavity, the second is vertically, or angled, down from the bridge to meet that hole. The first hole will be hidden by the strap button. It's still a long thin hole, but doesn't need to be so carefully angled.
  2. Almost what?
  3. Well played, sir!
  4. That was my thought too, it's the only straight line I can see. I have cheated and looked back through the thread for a pic from the back, and on one image there appears to be a vertical line running just in front of the pickups on one. But it could equally be an image artefact. I give up. 🤷‍♂️
  5. Welcome aboard. Never too old to rock and roll. Or funk, or, jazz, or pop, or.....
  6. You're in! Too late to back out now 😄 A backrest has got to be allowed. A comfort strap would be, and avoiding injury is absolutely more important than staying in a forum competition. Welcome to the forums by the way
  7. 😥 On the Sandberg, or on anything?
  8. Looks good to me! You may think it's not worthy of the thread, but remember two things: It's more than most bass players have ever done. Including me I should add. Everyone starts somewhere. There was (probably) a time when @Andyjr1515 didn't know one end or a chisel from another. 😉
  9. I can't add anything, just posting so that fabulous picture appears more than once. Really good decision to go with the pickguard.
  10. Sadly that sums up most of the bass lines I can imagine as well 😥
  11. I keep coming back to this, trying to work out how to justify buying it. I don't play 5 string, don't need a piezo bass, but really like the design! 🙂 What's the width at the nut and bridge, and how deep is the neck? I've trawled the internet but can't find any actual dimensions or information on this.
  12. Please allow us cack-handed buffoons a go too!

    Hello!

Welcome aboard! BC should keep you entertained until you can gig again. Stay away from the market place 😄
  14. Welcome aboard! Lots of love for Ibanez in these forums. I do like the headless in your first pic.

    Hello.

    Welcome aboard!
  16. The electronics for this are phenomenal! This a a bass which will freak out FOH engineers as it has it's own PSU, freak out airlines with the Lithium batteries, freak out the drummer who is the only other person to see the back of the neck, and hopefully freak out the audience with the sound. This has got to appear at Bass Bashes up and down the land when we are allowed them again. Or we will find out where you live and descend en masse.
  17. One for playing on stage - with a certain sweet-smelling fug wafting in from the audience. Mellow-out guys, don't be cruel dudes 🌻
  18. Following with interest, mainly to hear what it sounds like when finished. Tinkering and messing with stuff is good. 👍
  19. "I'm delighted to inform you Mr. BassTool that you have passed your tractor driving test on the 13th attempt. You picked up a minor failing due to occasionally missing one of the three cross-linked reverse gears. Otherwise well done."
  20. Welcome aboard! Do head on over to the build diaries and post there if you have pics of the work in progress. Always good to see a new instrument come into the world. Unless maybe it's a trebble recorder... 😬
  21. That's very nice indeed!

Posted to the "BassChat Famous Quotes" thread, as both a warning to us all and a reminder of the reasons we all waste so much time on here 😁
  23. Welcome aboard!! I have had a bass almost three years, and three years ago I couldn't play. Now I still can't play very well - but what the heck, I can get through a song, muck about in tune and on time (generally) and I enjoy myself 😁 I found StudyBass.com and Scotts Bass Lessons both hugely valuable. The former is genuinely free, very well structured and well presented. Scott Devine is a bit Marmite, but the academy content is good. Loads of support on here.
  24. Welcome aboard!

It doesn't. But why would that stop us keeping it going?
