  1. ok, thanks. I should have said I replaced the strings in case it was a string problem
  2. Hi All... I have a Cort B5 Element which I've noted the A string is quieter than the other strings when using the bridge pickup, when using the neck pickup all the strings sound the same. At a guess I think the pick up has a fault, I've been advised to take it to the shop but I'd rather have a tinker myself I'm happy to wield a soldering iron so have considered swapping the pickups over to see if it moves the fault. Does anyone have any thoughts on this? If it is the pickup I'd be looking to upgrade it I think, what would be a good choice, I find this one quite trebly. The pickups are both Bartolini MK1's Thanks
  3. Thanks for the info. I think I'll change it back to a blend pot, what would be a good make?
  4. I'll open it up and check the wiring. maybe when it had the blend switch the drop wasn't noticeable?
  5. Hi All, I've fitted new pickups in an old p / j Yamaha and changed the blend pot to a volume, so separate volume controls for each pick up. when I put both volumes on max, or I assume the same level the output volume lowers a bit, is this normal... or should I change it back to a blend pot, or is there a resistance problem with the pickups where they are effecting each other/ Thanks for any advice
  6. Thanks for the prompt replies..... I'll get the tape measure out and do a bit more research
  7. Hi All, My stagg 5 sting is being retired with a twisted neck so I'm looking to upgrade it a bit, there are a couple of basses I've seen that look good in my price range, but none are local to me so I can't try one. Cort Arona 5 Cort B5 Element ESP Ltd F255 If anyone has any thoughts on these it would be great. I'm a novice player and am only practising at home at the moment, but would like a bass that is versatile enough to gig with when the time comes. Thanks in advance. Giles
  8. The EDA900 looks different.... not sure its for me at the moment, I think the Sr may be just the ticket!
  9. any thoughts on an Ibanez Road gear RD900FM or an SR600
  10. Hi can anyone tell me the pros and cons between these please SR400EQM SR500 SR600 thanks
  11. Id be using it for learning and home practice and maybe the odd jam session in time, Ive currently got an old Stagg 5 string which I was given in bits, I like the Stagg but would like to get a 4 string. I don't have too much preference at the moment for music style so am looking for something flexible, I like the bass from bands like earth wind and fire and loads of other stuff!
  12. hi, Ive been trawling the bay looking at basses, there's a couple I like but don't know much about them, if anyone could offer any thoughts it would be grrrreat! the ones I've seen are: there's a few Yamaha's - RBX350, RBX270, RBX374,RBX4 A2 a couple of Ibanez - SR300, SR500E an Aria Pro ii SB ii Thanks
  13. Hi All, just thought I'd say a quick hello. Ive had a look round the forum and there's loads of info which is great as I can't play yet! Ive had a bass around for a couple of years now, after a thirty year break, and was hoping to spend some time learning to play this time round.
