Do let us know how you get on with the Osmo gimbals. At the moment we have a one-eyed camera operator called Paul. We will probably not replace him, but swap Dave's old phones for proper cameras π On another thread you asked about MIDI drum pads. I was going to report on the Akai Lpd8 I bought, but it's never been used as drum pads. I used it as a DAW control and it's now at church in service as a controller for OBS.

The Big Fat South-West Bass Bash - Now Sunday 19th September 2021

Can't we claim to be key workers? Not always the right key in all cases mind you.. Seconded! -
Alas not about the gentleman from Yes, I was mislead!!

Advice on cameras would be welcome here too. We are doing our first livestream on Sunday, but are running with phones as IP cameras for the first two services before we purchase anything.

Poles Apart, and Lost for Words. Both about Roger Waters, on The Division Bell.

Like the Orchard logo a lot, and the tweaks suggested by @Fishman would give it a bit more polish. I looked up Aukrug, so I guessed Orchard would be the brand name. Very cool and definitely different to the curly scripts we are used to.

Just bought a USB audio interface from @thebrig. Despatched really quickly, arrived exactly as described and very well wrapped. A pleasure to buy from.

Very nice indeed! π

Lovely bass. π Now the one thing that nobody else of the forum will tell you is this: before you buy another one, learn to play the one you've got!

Correct! I presume you recognised those terrible knees π€£

How to lose customers and irritate people

The new v3 Google reCaptcha doesn't actually provide a test for the human to solve. It looks at what you are logging in from, and makes an assessment of whether or not you might be a bot. There is no fallback test it seems. Good article here: https://medium.com/@jsoverson/thoughts-on-recaptcha-v3-e837d4a0a63 -

I prefer to buy my candles ready made for precisely this reason. -
Welcome aboard! If you can, I would play a few in shops and see what you think. There's a lot of variation in basses: neck thickness, width, length, shape, and they all affect how one person feels about the instrument. I play a 35" four string, so in theory a 35" five string should feel comfortable, but I have yet to find one I want to spend money on. A 34" I tried in PMT was OK, but sounded mediocre. A friend's 37" Dingwall multiscale was surprisingly easy play, but waaaaaaay too expensive. Sire and Ibanez are definitely good starting points though π. And if you can't make up your mind or don't get on with them, either are easy to sell on. A couple on the for sale forum here I think. And despite what @Teebs says, you find a lot of 5 string players in church worship bands π

Agree wholeheartedly. But my approach is buy the best I can at the time and sweat the asset. The warranty on the last PC ran out in 2009*, and the car was bought in 2010 and I intend to take it round the clock sometime in 2021/22. *I did put a couple of second hand SSDs in it in about 2017 though. -
+1 for Scott's Bass lessons, and for Players' Path. For the cost of four face-to-face lessons there is just so much content. His theory lessons are really good.

Every day I write the book - Elvis Costello (Anything to avoid either Paperback Writer or Lady Madonna π )

Compromise on cost. The budget was Β£1200, and 16GB is more than enough for audio, and easy to upgrade later on. Intel chip - again because the machine was specced for audio and so low latency and real time performance is more important than horsepower. Best advice is to talk to Pete at Scan. We swapped several emails about specs, what recording I do and intend to, what audio interface I have and so on, so we got the best bang per buck for what I need. If the focus is pure video then other components may be better. But it's quick, very quiet, and runs DaVinci without a problem. Happy bunny here π
