  1. I get all of this ^^^^^ It’s the “releases them” bit that I have to work on personally!!
  2. I have to agree. I have a TD650 and a Vanderkley 2x12. They play really nicely together.
  3. I guess dropping that sort of cash for an instrument was of no concern for the likes of Prince. Great looking instruments indeed.
  4. Amazon sell it via Amazon.de Not sure if as a UK customer you can source via this outlet. I just got some last week!
  5. And it does it brilliantly! Sounds great with any amp I’ve tried it with. Quality piece of kit.
  6. Well, I was so impressed with my first P bass from this builder I asked if he’d create a PJ unlined fretless for me. No problem. So, I eventually settled on a polyester-coated ebony board. It is currently strung with Labella flats and sounds really lush. Some pics:
  7. I love a good Ricky! I don’t need another one, honest guv………and I’m on the other side of the channel, I keep telling myself. (GAS be gone!!). I do have family in the UK though……..aaagh! Any pics of the rear of the instrument and where the through neck and body wings join, please?
  8. This ^^^^^ Great basses and MIJ quality. Can’t go wrong.
  9. I have a GB Spitfire from Bernie Goodfellow. It has neck LED’s with a separate battery. I think these were installed by Martin Sims, or at least, his design. I use them sparingly when I want to be flash. Since that need is very rare, I don’t use them much. Glad you got them working.
  10. I have a Crown xls power amp with selectable input sensitivity. I regularly use it with my Avalon U5 preamp. Sounds great.
  11. I have both and like them equally. It just depends on what particular sound I’m after either recording or at a gig. Frankly, at a gig most folks can’t tell the difference so then it comes down to body shape for me. I prefer the P body shape.
  12. For those bass manufacturers who don’t already……………. Install Luminlay (glow in the dark) side markers in the neck of the instrument, especially fretless.
  13. G&L : lose the “batwing/bottle opener” headstock on all models.
  14. Question: does the bass work when switched to passive or is it the same response in both active and passive modes via the slider switch?
  15. Do you leave the cable in the jack socket when you finish playing? That will run down the battery. When you have changed to a fresh (fully charged) battery does the bass play/sound normal, at least initially? It could be a bunch of things, but most are likely to be simple fixes. First suggestion is to use another cable if you have one. Then it’s time to take a look inside the control cavity of the bass in question. I am not familiar with the model you describe, but I’m sure somebody who is will be along soon to help you out. Report back with any findings.
  16. I know that insurance will likely cover some of this…….but, it is a real shock that a reputable store like Station Music has become a victim. A big shout-out to those guys who are warning the bass community by advertising this on the various internet auction sites and bass forums (fora?).
  17. I’ve bought a bunch of stuff from them. No problems in the transactions that I’ve had. They are quick and gave realistic answers. I am not an Italian-speaker, but we always got there. Hope this helps.
  18. Grolsch beer bottle washers are great to use in exactly this ^^^ way. And the beer is pretty good as well!
  19. If it were mine, I wouldn’t do it. I’d get another fretted bass or compatible fretted neck. Your decision though!
  20. Great job. The sense of achievement from a self-build must be a great motivator for future projects! Well done!
  21. There is something elegantly simple about a 3TS Precision with a tort scratch-plate. I’ve been on a long and winding bass journey over the years. I really enjoyed the diversity of other types of basses (including some active ones), but I keep coming back to where I started. You can’t beat it.
