Sorry to hear this Russ. Hope you are back on a sound financial footing soon and can get back to buying bass gear again
+1 Best of luck with the sales Russ, and also to getting back on your feet.. Selling gear under these sorts of circumstances - especially basses - is a difficult pill to have to swallow! happened to me some years back so i really do empathise with you on this. All the best Nik
What's the secret to organising a decent bass bash then SE BCers? We had one in Birmingham last November, but only 4 of us turned up! I would love to organise a bash of the same sort of caliber as the SE one, so any advice would be much appreciated!
In my view, more than anything, it's people make events and we're very lucky with the SE Bash that we've had a number of very supportive local Basschatters who formed a sort of virtual committee a few years back to try to work out how to run the events. If one person has to do everything, it's not as likely to succeed because it's a lot of work.. Plus with more people, you have more good ideas, contacts, help on the day etc, etc..
There a number of BCers in Nottingham..Shep et al..target them.. Get in some good speakers..arrange some good seminars...lots of Tea/Coffee/cakes - some good raffle prizes, easy to access venue with free parking... Hang on..aren't I just describing the SE Bash??? Seems to be a winning formula though..
Seems to good so far and I think the mix of activities has been vital to keeping people's interest going on the day, which is why there's still a strong turnout around 4pm when we do the Raffle.. But it'd be great to add more to the SE Bash next year to keep things interesting; particularly bearing in mind the facilities available at the venue.. perhaps some live performances would be good? -

There's no definitive need for a national Basschat Bash, though it'd be nice if it happened again.. The last one was in Northampton and that was just about do-able for me in terms of distance... As Si said, what we have now is the South East Bash and that hopefully, it is meeting the need down here for everyone to get together and have a great day. Probably the best and easiest thing is to have lots a really good regional events happening throughout the year.. -
As the SE Bash seems to be the biggest, and we no longer have the National bash, how would the organizers and managemennt feel about the SE bash becoming the National?
As to a national Basschat Bash, that's down to Ped & Kiwi really...but it's a good idea IMO..Quite how you could do that without locating it somewhere more central, I don't know though?
You may have singlehandedly pushed up the price of these though - we'll see next time one is for sale on ebay!!
Si has shares in an online vintage Boss pedals emporium, obviously... -
It's not my fault if you were having such fun! Although Nick doesn't seem to have joined the fun in this pic!

he was probably wincing at my drumming!
That's my horrible 'bassface' I'm afraid - comes of being a miserable old barsteward! And it was my playing I was wincing at tbh... You were really good! -

Hi Folks Wow! What a great day.... despite me the traffic chaos around the M25 that caused so many of us to get there very late!! Before anything, I have to thank Hamster & Mrs Hamster (Colin & Sarah) for organising everything so brilliantly despite not having me and Mrs Silverfoxnik (Loraine) there to help set up as intended! Excellent refreshments by the way.. Thanks also to Sibob for an amazing 'foot-tappingly brilliant FX workshop (definitely agree about his bass & rig sounding awesome with and without the FX); 51m0n for yet another Einsteinian like Compressor workshop, Paul for coming along with drums, good humour and good grooves to get the Jam Room moving and also to Urb for getting there in the end after so much hassle on the roads! Can't forget either some other notable contributions on the day; Ped turning up with some Basschat goodies and bits for the Raffle, obbm for manning the For sale area in the Foyer, everyone who donated prizes to the Raffle and Mrs Silverfoxnik for talking loads of photos (which we'll sort through and post up later tonight).. On a personal note, thanks to Chimike for bringing in the two Trace Elliot valve heads - they were amazing! It was brilliant to meet some new Basschatters and to see lots of familiar faces and there were some lovely basses and exciting bits of gear on display! Very quickly; Tom Kent's Fodera stood out, Chris's USA Lakland was lovely and his Thunderfunk 750 amp was very, very nice too.. WalMan's Overwater sounded great in the Jam Room too! Amazingly that Overwater and Chris's Lakland are for sale but no takers, when they're very nice basses indeed. Also couldn't talk about basses without a mention for Sibob's P bass which looks & sounds the business.. Mr Claber's new Barefaced prototype is pretty impressive too, but his 3 way cab (which I'd not seen or heard before) sounded great to my ears! Overall, it's such a chilled-out and nice vibe on the day that it makes it a real highlight of the year for me! Lastly, have to mention those that couldn't be with us yesterday for a variety of reasons: Happy Jack, silddx, Clarky, Bassace, Stingray 5, Merton, johnnylager and Jakenewmanbass.. You were very definitely missed - despite it being a great day - but hopefully, we'll see you next year.. Nik -

Sorry to hear that Pete! I have also just heard that Happy Jack can't be with us either, so no drummer for the Jam Room so, we're going to need drum machines or similar maybe to keep a groove going in there... I've definitely got some questions for the FX workshop! -

Hi Folks, A quick update: 1. Confirmed times for Workshops are: 12.00: FX's workshop - Sibob 13.00: Recording/Studio related stuff and Compressors - 51m0n 14.00: Ableton; composing, jamming and performing - Urb For those of us interested in the 'A/B ing amps, cabs & basses etc', I suggest we discuss it when the relevant interested folks have arrived.. Might be good to have Mr Claber in on that?? And also, we might need to hold it in the large hall as opposed to the Theatre, which is where the Workshops will most probably be taking place... 2. Raffle Colin - how does 15.30-16.00 sound to you for the Raffle?? 3. A question about a 'For Sale' section: previously, we've had that in the 'Quiet Room/Foyer' area - is everyone cool with that arrangement again? So...in summary we should have the following taking place...: Quiet Room (with For Sale section) Theatre (with 3 x Workshops taking place) Large Hall for other stuff, such as A/B-ing amps etc, etc Jam Room (with the amazing Paul on drums) Refreshments courtesy of Mr & Mrs Hamster in the Foyer and a Raffle Look forward to seeing you all there on the day!
