Well Nik, I'm still travelling down your way quite a lot, and it did sound rather nice through the V4b.... Thanks very much for the comments mate, hope all's well with you. Following our last conversation I was thinking you might want a new blonde in your life to be honest
Really good thanks, Chris.. A new blonde would be very nice but I'm banned from buying any more basses. Too many have sneaked their way into Silverfoxnik Towers recently (apparently).. Two gorgeous Wals there btw Chris; you have seriously good taste in bass guitars! Nik

Definitely really happy to recommend Cliff to one and all here on Basschat. Thanks Cliff

The older folk may grasp the above Good luck with the sales and the studio Chris, some fabulous stuff there .
+1 to all of the above! Chris; Happy New Year by the way - hope all's well with you and your family? I love the look of the Yamaha so checked out the Eagles track you mentioned... Long time since I've heard it, but what a tune and a great bass intro. If your bass sounds like that, then that's something else! GLWTS Nik

Just bought a Nikon COOLPIX camera from Andy and everything went perfectly.. Andy's communication throughout was great and the camera arrived in excellent condition thanks to some very careful packing by Andy.. Plus, it's a really good little camera. I'd have no hesitation in dealing with Andy again. Nik
Placeholding thread for the moment - just put the date in the diary and make sure you attend the bash. It's the 10th anniversary and it will be special! Usual venue: Jubilee High School, School Lane, Addlestone, Surrey KT15 1TE. Watch this space
Thanks for posting this up bluejay.. Can't quite believe it's 2016 already, nor that this will be the 10th SE Bash and the eighth one at the same venue! Happy New Year Folks
I've told the story on here before, but Lemmy once visited my mum while she was in hospital having a knee operation. He used to visit a friend of his in Cardiff who ran a motorbike repair place, and there was a newsagents shop close to it where my mum used to work. Lemmy & his friend used to be in & out of the shop all the time buying cigarettes & stuff - mum recognised him (I had a massive Motorhead poster on my bedroom wall at the time) & told him that we had a cat called Lemmy, which he found very amusing. They would regularly have a natter when he came into the shop after that. By coincidence his friends wife had to go into hospital for some reason at the same time that my mum was in having her knee op. When he went in to visit her he also found out what ward my mother was on & went in to see her too, which was a very lovely & kind thing to do. My mother thought the world of him, she thought he was a really nice guy. The first thing I thought when I heard the news about Lemmy today was "Mum would have been really upset about this"
What a fantastic story! Says so much about him as a person, away from his infamous rock 'n' roll persona.
A true legend. We will not his see his like again, which is sad Man alive, it has a been a year of attrition in the bass community.
+1 Very saddened to hear this news. Saw Motorhead only the once at Guildford about 15 years ago and they were absolutely fantastic! There's something very iconic about Rickenbackers anyway, but even more so when Lemmy played his. If/when they come to make the film of his life, they'll be hard pushed to find an actor who can do him justice.. RIP Lemmy.
A very happy Christmas to you too, Nik! SE Bash 2016 in diary - we'll get to work on it soon, and we'll make it special.
Thanks Silvia and +1 to that! -
As for the music, choosing between Motown, Stax and Atlantic is like choosing between three vintage wines. They're all a quality product we can enjoy!
+1

Hi Folks, Firstly, just to say that wherever you are, whatever you're doing, I hope that you have a fabulous Christmas with your nearest and dearest and that Santa brings you lots of bass-related presents! Secondly, though it's a long way off, I thought I'd take this opportunity to let you know that the 10th South East Bass Bash will be taking place on 24th September 2016. Please save the date if you're interested in coming along. Until then, Merry Xmas and Happy New Year. Nik

Great piece of design this amp.. I always wanted one when I used to have an Eden Metro combo because it did most of what the Metro did without all the weight. I'm playing different music now and use an Ampeg valve amp bought for that, otherwise this would have been very tempting.. Anyway,GLWTS and have a good Christmas!

SOLD H&K Bass Base 600 (Made in Germany)
silverfoxnik replied to arkhon's topic in Amps and Cabs For Sale
Great amps these.. I've had one for 5 years now and still really like it a lot. It recently saw off some competition in the form of a Thunderfunk TFB550, which to my ears sounded sterile in comparison.. Plenty of power, a great natural sound straight out of the box, valve pre and a really useful bendable FX loop. Plus it's built like a tank! Compared to modern Class D amps, it is heavy, but the huge toroidal transformer is part of why it delivers such a great sound. GLWTS -
+1 for Andy Warren.. Good bass playing in the Monochrome Set too...
