1.
Though I must admit, I played a private boat party yesterday for a load of charming theatre lovelies, and the ever-fragrant Juliet Stevenson was bopping about, and I strongly suspect I was grinning like a fool.
Great story! Like that poetic turn of phrase 'ever-fragrant' too... I always look forward to making music; gigging, rehearsing and very occasionally, recording - it's the whole point of playing the bass for me. Don't get me wrong, I really enjoy playing bass on its own, but it's so much more fun playing with other musicians and especially so, if there's an audience there to play for/to. Having said that, I still suffer from an acute and almost untreatable case of 'bass face'. After nearly 40 years of playing, a cure is out of the question, so I guess the only solution is to buy some T-shirts that say 'I'm smiling on the inside', or words to that effect.
2. Great thread! Sadly, I don't have any technical/craftsman skills to offer I'm afraid, but it's good to know that so many fellow Basschatters do, and are willing to help.
3.
Sounds great...nice playing too.
+1 I think the very nice playing is bringing out the absolute best the bass has to offer..
4. Sorry Owen, Just measured the bass I had in mind for your case and it's not going to fit.. Shame because I liked the look of the case. Anyway, GLWTS and thanks for your help. Nik
5. Thanks Owen Am not able to check dimensions of the bass until I get home later, but will do so and then PM you. Cheers Nik
6. Thanks Owen, Is it possible to measure the depth or height within the case as well? Thanks Nik
7. Cheers Kolin, Pleasure! Hope you enjoy the cab.. Nik
8. Very nice indeed... Something Mr Bolder himself would have liked, I'm sure! Good luck with the Bowie project.
9. Hi Owen, Do you have the precise dimensions for this please? Cheers Nik
10. Great price for a quality piece of kit! GLWTS
11.
Now that's how a selling bass sound sample should be. Applause.
+1
12. Hi Folks I've just recently sold an SWR Triad to Kolin, otherwise known as 'Sausages' here on Basschat. As he doesn't appear to have a feedback thread, I thought it only right to start one on his behalf to let you know that, if you haven't had the pleasure of dealing with Kolin before, I'm very happy to say that you can deal with him in complete confidence. Our transaction was totally hassle-free and Kolin was a real gent to do deal with throughout! Kolin - hope that you enjoy using the Triad as much as I did! All the best, Nik
13. I'm not a fretless player, but it sounds pretty good to me.. GLWTS
14. Another happy 1x15 user here... Have used an SWR Triad for about 8 years (3 way design comprising 15" + 10" driver + a horn), but in that time, have also had a couple of old Peavey 1x15 cabs loaded with Altec Lansing 15" drivers which were great. And now, I'm almost exclusively using an an Ampeg V4BH head with matching Ampeg Classic series 1x15 cab, which sounds wonderful (to my ears at least). Along the way I've used 4x10, 2x10, 1x12 and 2x12 cabs as well as a Schroeder 21012 cab which was particularly good, but in the end, I always seem to come back to cabs with 15" drivers.
15. Hi there Are any of these still available? Nik
16.
Well, I made it through the gig. Used a plectrum (the same one!) all the way through, first set was an hour, second was about 10 mins longer. Couldn't move my hand after the gig, but working as usual this morning, no more aches and pain than any other morning. I played my US standard Precision through an Ashdown EB180 1x12 combo that was also DI'd into the PA and it sounded different to my usual style, but in some ways better, crisper and more defined. I'm definitely going to practice using a pick even if/when I get the use of my fingers back. Best of all, I'm back gigging with the band just three months after the accident which left me with a badly broken wrist and a smashed cuboid in my foot.
Great news and congrats for getting through the gig!
17. That's rather gorgeous! GLWTS
18.
Amazed this is still f/s.
+1 Very cool, classic looking P bass with an upgraded pick up... what's not to like?
19. As well as the other basses mentioned above, there's a YouTube clip somewhere of Colin Moulding playing a Hayman 40 40 as well.. Great band, quintessentially English/British and all the better for it IMO..
20.
Great amp. I should know, this used to be mine! For £230 I pretty much guarantee you won't find better grind and versatility!!! My VT Bass Deluxe and a Reidmar comes fairly close, but doesn't quite have the sheer welly that this does. GLWTS Nik: doubt it'll take long...
Thanks And you were right - this amp is now sold! Much faster than I expected actually...
21.
Pm'd Cheers Thebassman
And replied
22. WOW - you don't see many of those around! Won't be here long, if it hasn't gone already....
23. And SOLD (finally)
