1.
Dennis Davis, Bowies drummer in the period from "Young Americans" to "Scary Monsters" has died from cancer. Dennis Davis & George Murray were one of my favourite rhythm sections ever, absolutely brilliant.
+1 One of my favourite rhythm sections too. Sad news indeed. RIP
2. Thanks Matt, I think Laserbeak is missing your son too! Nik
3. That's great Matt.. See you soon I hope.. Nik
4. Hi Folks, I just had the pleasure of meeting Matt, aka moooper, and his family, who travelled over to Littlehampton this evening to collect the Roscoe Beck 5 string bass I've just sold him. Apart from being a great player and very knowledgeable about gear, Matt's a really nice guy to deal with. What's more, his very articulate and energetic son entertained our 13 year old dog throughout the whole time they were here, which was lovely to see and a real bonus, as we probably won't have to give her a walk now this evening. Anyway, really nice people and that always makes buying and selling gear here on Basschat so much nicer than anywhere else! So, deal with Matt in complete confidence Folks! And Matt, I really hope you enjoy the RBV! Thanks Nik
5. Just bought a Korg midi keyboard from Ian in a completely hassle-free transaction.. Highly recommended Basschater, so deal with in complete confidence Folks. Thanks Ian
6. Beautiful bass! Don't see many in such good condition and with the 2 modules.. Quirky, British bass making goodness... GLWTS
7. And finally SOLD !! Thanks for all your kind comments and support chaps ..
8. +1 Great combo, great price and Jon's a great bloke too! What more can anyone want?
9.
Bought some new cables from Dave - OBBM... What can I add? Dave's products are superb - my (now) 'spare' leads are also from Dave, and they've never let me down....and believe me, they've been very well used! Time for some new cables - ordered on Wednesday evening, arrived Friday. I was also assisted on my choice, and it certainly helped being a Basschatter. Why on earth would you buy from anywhere else?
+1 to everything said above about Dave's products, his service and the completely easy going, hassle free way he has of dealing with everything. We are very lucky here on Basschat for having unique access to so many really helpful things, and Dave and his high quality cables are definitely testament to that! Thanks Dave
10. That's even more tempting! Lost in deep thought now...
11. Really surprised that this is still here, as these early 80's Tokai basses are superb!
12. That's a real bargain for such a cool looking and rather unique Matamp cab! Shame I'm not local, otherwise I'd have been very, very tempted by this. Anyway, GLWTS
13. Great thread and a very nice looking bass! Congrats John, Nik
14. Suddenly, a flurry of PMs this weekend, all of which are now replied to...
15. Interesting. Should sound pretty good being Dimarzios.
16.
Wow that's cool as hell. And cheap. I'm sorted for jazzes and Tokais but this really stands out in the forum.
+1 I had one of these for a few years (about 10 years ago) in CAR that was superb! Traded it with the Beedster IIRC.. Anyway, it sounded and played as well as, if not better, than a '66 Jazz that I had once. GLWTS
17.
which is why one's on my want list! Might have to see about selling that bass... (didn't think this would be here long enough to be worth it!)
Good idea!
18. Nice bass, particularly with the rosewood fingerboard. GLWTS
19. That's a fabulous picture John!! GLWTS
20.
This is one of the basses I didn't think would be up for long at all.... But it is....
Thanks Luke, I think there's a lot of great basses for sale on here at the moment, so people are rather spoilt for choice.. Having said that, I thought I'd priced this quite competitively, so I'm a bit surprised that it hasn't gone as yet. Fortunately, I don't have to rush to sell it and I must admit that there's part of me that really doesn't want to, especially after the Beedster's comments the other day which got me thinking about why I rate these so highly in the first place. So, to remind myself, I had a bit of a session with it - running it through my Trace AH300 head and a home-build 112 cab - and it sounded great to me in terms of really authentic, usable, old stool Fender bass tones. And I think that's why I rate these RBV so highly; they deliver the sound I've always heard (and liked) so much on lots of my favourite records. Nik
21.
A perfectly serviceable Westone, a prime example of Matsumuko loveliness, for £60. Such a bargain. Have a bump and GLWTS.
+1
