*** NOW SOLD - THANKS FOR LOOKING *** Hi Folks Have recently got myself into a situation where I now have too many amps and too many cabs, which is great fun, but not very practical! So it's time to do a bit of selling for once, instead of buying... As a result of this rare moment of clarity/sanity, I now have this Tech 21 Landmark 300 two channel amp with footswitch & 2U flight case for sale at SOLD + p&p. I bought this on here last September as I was looking for an amp that could deliver more than just clean tones, and this certainly does that! However, before I really got into using this, I was fortunate enough to be able to buy an Ampeg VB4H rig from Beedster last October, and that is now my main gigging rig... But make no mistake, this is a really clever piece of kit that offers a lot of features and versatility for the money! To quote some fellow Basschatters who've owned and sold one of these amps, they're: "Lovely lovely amp capable of all the things that the Tech 21 RPM and RBIs are capable of!" and they're also: "Incredibly versatile: two 'blendable' channels gives the opportunity to either channel switch or run both together. I doubt there's a sound you can't get with this amp, and live and recording engineers love the D.I which I think is about as good as they get." Comes in a 2U flightcase, which has obvious signs of 'use' but the actual amp is pretty much spotless so it's done its job. Footswitch has the odd dink in the paint as you might expect from normal contact with footwear, but functions perfectly. And here's what it says on the Tech 21 website (http://www.tech21nyc...andmark300.html), which also has some sound samples on it by the way: "Two differently formatted channels deliver everything from warm classic tube tones to Sumo-sized distortion. This 2U, 300-watt rackmountable head features a fan-cooled chassis and is equally at home in a rack system or as a compact stand-alone head. Its heavy gauge steel case is touring tough. With pro features like a +10dB gain switch to enhance low output pickups and drive active pickups harder, and a SansAmp XLR Direct Output, this amp will quake the bedrock live and in the studio." Link to the Owners Manual: http://www.manualsli...ndmark-300.html And here's a YouTube link which will give you an idea of what this amp can sound like: https://www.youtube....h?v=OaeKsXXieAo As always, I'm more than happy if anyone would like to come and try this amp out in person (tea and biscuits always in good supply) or equally, I am happy to ship it if you're happy to pay for the postage.. Any questions, please ask away here or send me a PM. Thanks for looking! Nik
I'll take £60. Please don't offer less. I'm practically giving this away. Here are examples of the tones this bass is capable of. https://www.youtube....h?v=TN_2MW-t-M8 https://www.youtube....h?v=huxsF0_NCag https://www.youtube....h?v=aAg82gyZn-g
Some nice playing in those videos by the way and this is a ridiculously good price for this bass! The suggestions above for packaging up the bass are all good too..

What do you do when you've found The One?
It's good to have options and sometimes different instruments inspire you to play differently.
+1 I think this is very true; different basses have always brought out in me a slightly different playing style.. -
Just bought (TBH it was a steal!!) a Trace Elliot head from the Amps For Sale section - it's been a few years since I last owned/played through a TE and I'd forgotten how much I loved the tone. Smooth, rich and yet still gives a kick in the ribs to anybody who dares to walk past. TE are seen to be a bit "dated" - "80s equipment" - so as a result are fetching ridiculously low prices considering what you get for your money - I dare you to try one without falling in love with one again.
+1 Very recently bought an AH300 head from TimAl and although it's taken a while to get my head around it (as it's 30 years since I last had a Trace amp), it sounds bloody marvellous! And it really, really is ridiculously loud!! You're not wrong about that kick in the ribs', Mick.
Like many other things in life, once you've found 'the one' you simply go looking for another - because as we all know, you can never have enough basses!!
+1 I have different basses that work best in different bands, which allows me to avoid having to commit to the idea of having just 'the one' bass. Having said that, if I really had to pick one bass, it'd be my '84 BC Rich Eagle. But - in typical Basschat fashion - the very recent acquisition of a Hayman 40 40 may just change that! -
Just sold a valve pedal to Mark, who was a pleasure to deal with! As he said, a 'perfect transaction'.

Thanks for the kind words Chaps! Glad to have helped, Nick.

Backup Gear - Anyone take a spare cab with them?
silverfoxnik replied to Lozz196's topic in General Discussion
For about 7 years, I played in a band with a 3k rig which we used mainly in pubs. Despite it being a great PA, I still took my own bass rig because my bass sounded better through it compared to the PA with its Mackie sub, which gave lots of sub-bass frequencies, but little definition. Now I play in a band with a small vocal PA and my Ampeg rig with a 115 cab suits it perfectly in terms of sound, volume and footprint.. However I will occasionally carry a 210 cab as a spare just in case! And, if the venue permits, then it gives me the chance to use the full rig I have, which is a treat for me. Yes, it's more effort, but it works for me. -

I have a Schecter Diamond P5 that is so good, I very quickly bought it back after foolishly selling it last summer.. Only my opinion of course, but this range of Schecter basses is very underrated!

Having owned and played so many different basses over the last 40 years, I've come to the conclusion that there's no rhyme or reason to this at all... Twenty years ago, I had a '66 Jazz, but I never really got on with it.. Had an 80s Tokai Jazz that I loved. Apart from playing a great sounding Warwick Streamer 5 string at the first South East Bash in 2007, I've never got on with the feel of the 3 Warwick's that I've owned. I also had 3 Stingrays over the years and never got on with the sound when playing them. Had 2 or 3 Wal Custom Mach 1s, including a 5 string, but didn't like them at all, yet loved the Wal Pro models that I've owned.. I've had a few budget Yamahas too - BB300, BB400 models - and really enjoyed them, but last year I quickly moved on a beautiful TRB5P that I bought here that I was absolutely convinced I was going to bond with when I bought it. Like I say, no rhyme or reason! It's been a real blast trying out so many different basses though..

Just bought a fabulous, vintage Hayman 40 40 bass from Baldwin bass, a.k a. Stuart who has been an absolute gent and a pleasure to deal with from start to finish. As well as entrusting me with a bass he's owned for nearly 40 years, Stuart was kind enough to drive to my neck of the woods to allow me the opportunity to try out the bass in person before committing to buy it. So, I'm more than happy to personally recommend Stuart to one and all here on Basschat... Deal with in complete confidence, folks! Lastly, thanks for a really pleasant transaction Stuart and for the bass itself, which is just brilliant! Hope you do decide to come along to the South East Bash in September ; it's a great day and I'm sure you'll really enjoy it.. Nik
