  1. I have to admit that I generally agree with the OP. Then again I first picked up the bass in 1962. Then it was well nigh impossible to get a clean bass sound out of the low powered valve/tube amps of the time. I'm now using a 2KW Class D power amp and have cleans up the wazoo. I built a pedalboard and bought a few pedals. None of them are for distortion I'd had enough of that crap growing up. On some occasions I thought that I could use the pedals to enhance the tunes. In truth I have never taken the board to a gig yet. LOL
  2. You wouldn't like the Crossover distortion from Class B.
  3. Does the DR103 have a socket on the back marked 'Slave' or some such? If yes plug a cable from that socket to the input of the slave and all should be good. You will need a separate speaker system on each amp.
  4. Please come back and let us know what the problem was with your amp. I, for one, would like to know.
  5. B15 clones do indeed exist but I was not referring to them just an original B15. There's magic in them old amps.
  6. My memory failed me, the outputs are TO3P not TO220. I apologize.
  7. You also might think about running a HPF in your signal chain to ease the strain on a small driver.
  8. TCE tend to do things their own way! LOL Their wattage ratings are another!!
  9. I bought the unit in need of repair. That was simple enough the output transistors had failed. I repaired the output board and added devices to the empty slots - had to drill and tap the heatsink to accept them. I then wanted to improve the cooling path but got involved in other more important projects. I'm now considering dropping in a Class D module but haven't researched that too much to date.
  10. I think it might be 300W peak and not RMS. The TO3P output transistors are too small for 300W with only half of the slots with devices installed.
  11. Remember that song - There ain't nothin' like the real thing Baby, There ain't nothing like the real thing.
  12. My speaker cabinets are all 4Ω chosen because all my amplifiers are happy working into a 2Ω load. You could use two 4Ω amps one into each of your two cabinets. Linked together Effects Send to second amp Effects Return. It will work and the first amps controls will operate for both amps.
  13. From what I have observed a Trace GP7 300 is actually 150W.. I was disappointed in the construction of my unit. The cooling path was just a fan blowing on a heatsink.
  14. Personally I wouldn't let one of those things anywhere near my B15. The magic of the B15 is bass right into the amp. Anything else will detract from the amp. What do you mean by more accessible?
  15. Ah Paul! You make it all sound so simple! LOL
  16. There isn't an amp made that outputs it's full power all the time. They only do that when the input signal is strong enough to drive them that far.
  17. Took me a short while to work out 'cos over here it would have to be Bare Assed. LOL
  18. HO Buoy - are you ever heading for a failure. One day you'll be playing away and your amp will go quiet - permanently!! It's a case of it's fine until it's not!
  19. None of my Class D amplifiers lose anything at volume. Just as good loud as they are at softer volumes.
  20. To practice at home I use my Ampeg B15N. It sounds wonderful and makes me want to practice more!
  21. The best speaker cabinets I have ever used are my Acme B2 2x10 three way cabinets. I have a pair of Series one and a pair of Series two. All are 4Ω impedance which suits my 2Ω capable power amps down to the ground! They are capable of handling a Low B at volume. I stack them on their ends for a vertical 4x10.
  22. I hope it serves you well.
