  1. Just 'cos they're working doesn't mean they're going to keep doing so if you have the connections wrong.
  2. No problem handling B9A pre-amp tubes with your fingers, They don't get hot enough for the oils on your fingers to make a difference. Even output tubes won't be bothered either. They are not like headlamp bulbs.
  3. Digital multimeters are really cheap and any serious electric musician should own one or more.
  4. Bill, what's the use of clouding the issue with facts? LOL
  5. We likes to give good advice we does! LOL
  6. What you may not know is that the brand 'Acoustic' was purchased by the Guitar Centre chain of music stores. Since the purchase the brand has been made in China and bears little in common with the ACC of old.
  7. If your cabinets are 8Ω then you should connect two as the amp has a 4Ω output.
  8. My worst experience in bass amplification was a 50W Blackface blonde Bassman with it's 2x12 cabinet in the late Sixties. It looked wonderful on stage but sounded like a pile o' crap. I had to use it for the two gigs that weekend in Liverpool and then returned the amp to Dawsons in Runcorn. Unfortunately they had sold my trade in so I just left the amp there. I still get nightmares about the damn thing!!
  9. As someone who worked on several Nuclear power stations I found the stickers somewhat amusing! LOL
  10. I. have an old Heathkit tester which I use for quick go/no go checks. I also have a Hickok tube tester that gets very little use.
  11. It's called a tube tester. There are modern testers available for a limited range of tube types such as those pre-amp tubes used in MI amplifiers.
  12. Pre-amp tubes should last decades as they don't do much work - lazy buggers!!! LOL
  13. I don't have a clue who Alan Partridge is so it went over my head bones!!
  14. Was this aimed at my post?
  15. You'd better eat your Wheaties before you try lifting that beast!!
  16. 'Stereo' doesn't work too well for bass. I tried the idea in the early Eighties with a JBL K145 + a pair of JBL K120s on each side of the stage. It worked well, or so I thought, from the stage. Out in the room not so much with cancellations in different areas. Don't try changing the drivers in the jBL cabinets as they are designed to use the driver that's installed. Anything else would be a downgrade no matter how good the driver might be.
  17. Phil, I think that unit is a line level box not speaker level. I couldn't see any reference to speaker connections.

I haven't used a pick since the Sixties! Using my fingers seems so much more organic.
  19. The lesson to be learned is don't look at what you don't want to see!! LOL
  20. WOW! We've had a Pandemic since the next from last post!! LOL Edit: I hope everyone is keeping safe. My brothers tell me how bad it's been.
  21. Well good luck with that then. I hope you get the amp fixed.
  22. Sorry to disagree but the typical 4x10 will put out more lows that a typical 1x15. The larger cone is meaningless as it's mostly other characteristics that lead to lows.
  23. I know you have dismissed a B15 but if you can get your hands on one they are worth every penny. They make practice time a pleasure and not somewhat of a chore.
