  1. Oh how I longed for one of these many years ago. I played through one once and it was a wonderful experience.
  2. I saw James Morrison last night (Bournemouth Pavilion). Superb singer and songwriter. I used to play one of his songs many years ago. He was great but the sound was very poor (the bass player could have been playing anything, as hardly a single note was decipherable). The worst thing (and this is the second time I have seen him this year) is trhat his band has absolutely no groove and no joy in playing at all. Blimey, if I was in that band ..................
  3. Excellent result from an excellent day. The very definition of win:win.
  4. Love my SVL Steve Brownings! 🙂
  5. And you got Tony Levin to model it!!
  6. If it was home only, I'd go with the reissue Portaflex. I think these are 100w and sound just as great as they look.
  7. Well a phone call should give you an idea. Eko was good enough for John Deacon.
  8. Spoke with my chum last night and rewinding is certainly an option. All sorts of possibilities
  9. Not sure of your location but could you get those pickups rewound to your spec? A good friend works at Eternal Guitars (they make the old Wizard pickups) and he is constantly talking about what can be done.
  10. Worth noting I agree on the pick-ups. I changed them out on both of mine but don't let that put you off the initial purchase.
  11. Here's an old pic of my red one (I also had a natural). Excellent basses. Lovely and light. Usual Japanese build quality. I sold mine for around the £500 or so each IIRC.
  12. An ex John Entwistle 1961 Precision. The E string was completely dead no matter what I did and with any number of different strings on it.
  13. Neatly done. My rig is flightcased too but what would really help is if amp manufacturers would put an input on the back so that you don't meed additional rack space for the cable running in to the amp. Not a problem you have here but it's right annoying!
  14. Two piece body, by the look of it! 🙂
  15. I'd take c). Genuinely good experience and a chance to build a following. You are close to breaking even and, if you travel together, quite possibly a good laugh (which may come in handy if you end up being together on the road a lot).
  16. I would echo the Boogie diesel 15 but confess I also had a good sound out of an Ampeg PF15, the flip top cab. Cheaper than the Boogie and even the right make!!
  17. First bass was a Columbus Jazz through a 50 Top head and Impact 2x15 cab. Don't remember much about it other than I transported it in an old Mini. The rear seat cushion had to come out.
  18. Believe it or not but this rig and the drums all went in a Transit Connect.
