  1. It’s a drug, you can do without it, but part of you needs that internet hit.
  2. Which is why the loss of John Peel is felt even greater. IIRC, once on TOTP, he said, “If this gets to number one, I’ll come and pass wind in your kitchen,” a man who stuck to his guns and taste in music. Johnnie Walker would count in this vein too (sacked/resigned for refusing to say he liked The Bay City Rollers on radio, when he didn’t).
  3. 37° in Macclesfield (and plenty of other places in the UK) would be pretty rotten, we’re not really geared up for very hot weather, not least in the names of our towns and cities. Think about it, Mojácar, Cap d’Antibes, Lido de Jesolo, etc sound hot and exotic, compare that to Rotherham, Clitheroe, Croydon, Auchtermuchty - just not the same vibe. Apologies to anyone who lives in the UK towns mentioned, who think their home towns are hot and exotic, but you get my drift. Welcome back, @Rayman, you gear has missed you too, no doubt.
  4. Smooth Criminal - MJ
  5. @Ander87 reports his new Sire P type to be less than 4kg, I'm just sharing the info. Harley Bentons do have a reputation for being heavy, however.
  6. It appears that the answer to OP's topic lies herein:
  7. With everyone raving about Matt Bissonette's tone with Elton, last night, this should be snapped up pretty quickly. The 'Ray5 is one of the top, if not the best, basses for live, ensemble playing, it just works. GLWTS.
  8. Had one of those: light, easy to play and those Nordys are fantastic. GLWTS.
  9. I’ve tried to like The Smiths time and time again, I really have (Marr & Rourke were just wonderful together) but I just can’t get past Mozza’s vocals and this is from a bloke who learnt to like Geddy Lee’s voice. However, Mr Astley seems to have solved my dilemma.
  10. Just copied it from the Guitar Guitar website, to be honest. One of our local charity shops has a couple of shorty Ps, but they’re way over priced (not Fenders or Squiers) and one of them has so much relief in the neck you can stick your fingers underneath the strings, I suspect the truss rod had gone.

  12. Some very nice basses you have there. I’m sure a good number of us would be interested in the details of you Wal replicas.
  13. I’m really liking that Mustang.
  14. West End Girls - Pet Shop Boys
  15. Ghost Town - The Specials
  16. Night Swimming - REM
  17. Put one of those pickups (or sometimes any pickups) in the P position and you get something not a million miles away from what we think of as P bass tone.
  18. You’ve taken me right back to my childhood there, @Riverbassman65, I remember repeatedly reading a book about the St Lawrence river in the library. Nice to see that the epithet ‘gits’ is in use so far from these shores. Kudos!
  19. That colour combo 😍
  20. I like the T’Bird pickup.
  21. Start Me Up - The Stones
  22. Alive - Pearl Jam
  23. Now I Wanna Sniff Some Glue - The Ramones
