  1. My Perfect Cousin - The Undertones
  2. If you can go the extra few £s for a JMJ, there is at least one for sale on BC and is well worth it.
  3. Good BVs and harmonies are what sets a lot of bands apart. Once I was given the confidence and guidance about singing, I enjoyed it more and more. However, some songs were beyond me due to the syncopation of the bass line against the vocals, in these instances I stuck to my principal job.
  4. The Squier Affinity Jag is 32” scale and has a 38mm nut width.
  5. Or shows how stupid you really are. I depped for a gig where the organisers wanted some low key jazz. I worked very hard to learn the set, was bricking it for most of the gig in case I let my friends down and then someone came up and asked us to play some rock and roll so they could dance.
  6. NICE! 😍
  7. I suspect this is your problem. If you’ve not had this issue in other venues, this pub’s acoustics seems the most likely cause.
  8. You can always add a preamp pedal should the need arise, all of my basses have a Sadowsky preamp, in that they go through an SBP2.
  9. Rub it in why dontcha! 😂
  10. Bands should realise that they are the hired help and that the person paying for the ticket is the customer. Doing a few wedding gigs would help solidify that scenario for them.
  11. My JMJ does soften the P bass regret a tad, as it’s very similar (if not the same) tonally and feel wise.
  12. I’m having seller’s remorse these days about letting my ‘63 P go. However, it was over 10 years ago and it went for what we’re very good reasons at the time and it allowed me to explore other bass solutions, I was not to know I’d come full circle.
  13. It’s that sense of entitlement that gets me. There’s every chance that target of the tirade is on the spectrum and doesn’t react as you’d expect. It’s plain that these people have never played to ‘staff & walls’ in empty pubs and clubs. So what if one person doesn’t react the way you expect, what about the rest of crowd? If the whole crowd was less than enthusiastic, then they’re not the problem. I despair!
  14. Ooh! Colour me intrigued.
  15. Sound man to bass player, “I’ve set aside 15 minutes to dial in your sound.”
  16. Hello, Download. Please give a big, Donnington roar for our headliners - ABBA!
  17. Good evening everybody, I hope that you’re ready to laugh and be buoyed up by our big act’s uplifting exuberance, please welcome to the stage… Roger Waters.
  18. Pull Up To The Bumper - Grace Jones
  19. This ^^^
  20. List on the JMJ Mustang is £1400, which is about the same as the American Pro Mustang. US Js seem to be about £1960. MusicMan are similar with the offshore Ray34 listing at £1200 but a US Ray is £3k! It is all a bit crazy when you look back not that long ago. At least the low end of Fender and MM’s range are still good value, but I can only see them going up too.
  21. I suggest he doesn't give up the day job for a career in stand up.
  22. Also a shout out for Burke Shelley. Budgie had some absolutely fantastic tunes.
