1. people moaning about music, thats the worst bit
2. Ooo a timely thread. I'm jamming with a few fellas at the moment & last night they told me I was driving them through the songs & making them all sound 100% better than they was before. All the way through last nights session they were beaming from ear to ear. A great lift for me
3. Bigwan sold me a Pandora mini & was a good smooth transaction. Nice guy & will be more than happy to deal with again
4. I honestly cannot see a single point that can be argued against here. I'm planning on selling a few items that will be probably below £50 but will still pay the £20 fee as I want to help the site live on.
5. Noice some great stuff on here, I'm now thinking where do I start ? I love the relaxed riffage !
6. I've not been open to different bands but have always listened to a wide range of music. in the past I've only been in metal covers & metal originals bands but when in these bands I've always listened to stuff like Simon & Garfunkle through to Hip Hop, Acid Techno & Classical music. Nowadays I dream of being in an experimental/psychedelic band, something I could use all my influences together in one place. but finding musicians like this I know has always been like trying to find unicorn poop.
7. I wish I had £600 to be able to shell out for this kind of thing. Sounds fantastic though
8. I practice all the time, my bass is in the living room right next to where I sit, so I pick up the bass all the time. At the moment I'm learning a few different songs so once I get the riff down I will pick my bass up every time I pass, play the riff & any changes I'm struggling with until it becomes second nature. I'm not a gifted bass player by any stretch of imagination but I do make up for my lack of skills by working hard. I love playing my bass & don't like watching TV so all I need to do is find something to do when the mrs is watching TV, I've just got a Korg Pandora so now I'm going to be playing a hell of a lot more nowadays.....which I'm pretty giddy about.
9. Dread bass you are now officially old !!! pick up your pipe & slippers on your way over to the shop to get the mint imperials ***runs for cover***
10. love it. There is not enough nakedness in music videos
11.
With mountain bike?
Always mate, I have close by muddy trails I can guide you around. with close pass by of the famous "Wool pack" pub from that TV programme .....the name escapes me. Ho yeh crime stoppers
12. Nige I just love you ! This is so correct it hurts mate. We do as musicians need to support each other, BC is a brilliant community where we are all here because we love music first & foremost. but to my own shame have not yet caught a fellow BCer's gig ! I was aware that Nearly Dan was playing Leeds but was gutted to find out that it landed n a weekend when i was with my son. so that's as close as I got. But I still say though if anyone on Bass Chat finds themselves in Leeds ever fancies a pint or a meet up please drop me a PM it would be great to meet up for a natter & a booze. Also this thread reminds me of a band who once contacted me from Cornwall a few years ago who were trying to set up a scheme where they offered gig swaps, they would set up gigs for my band down there, offer a sofa to sleep on & somewhere to store our stuff for the night or nights and we were to do the same for them. We thought it was an awesome idea & offered our support. unfortunately they never got it off the ground but with the help of the people of BC this could be a possibility. even if the overnight stay didn't happen the basic idea could have legs. I'm not in a solid giging band though but maybe worth a thought for bands who are looking to expand their range of venue.
13. ^^^ Bang on! Have a drink & a chat first. out of every band I have ever been in I have always met the band for a chat first without picking up an instrument. It's a good way to meet the band as people first, you can talk about music & get a feel for what they are like. If he is lacking in confidence & feels like he's not going to look like a useless amateur on the first practice then your half way there. When I bought my first bass I was invited to join a band one month after buying the bass I had the mindset that I would not join a band until i was at a better skill level, But looking back if I wouldn't have not made that jump I would have never have done it.
14. Yeh i find this very much like torture lol fantastic guys
15. I get this all the time, here is the list: Take a walk on the wild side- Lou Reed 7 nation army-White stripes Stink fist- Tool Ride the white swan-T Rex
16.
I just GOTTA nick that...sheer poetry!!!
***takes bow while hurting a mouse***
17.
seems to me a lot of these people that duck out of auditions at the last minute have just got cold feet, it's a really nerve racking experience putting yourself up for auditions not knowing the people involved or their level of expertise. On the other hand it's better to find out they're not committed before you spend weeks teaching them the songs
I agree with this as a person who is looking to join a band. the majority of people who are not in a band are not in a band for a reason. Either lack of skill, a bit odd or simply not enough confidence. I have not played in a band for a very long time and becaus of this, i have slipped into a comfort zone, although I have seen a few ads that I find interesting I bottle it and dont get in touch, I'm guessing some guys will take the step & then realise taht their confidence is lacking. I think the idea of doing an audition would be pretty scarey for someone in a situation like me. Of course some are just knuckle dragging puddles of loon & you catch for these all the time
18.
Metallica can't be angry anymore as they're now a family friendly metal band. Megadeth aren't angry anymore because Dave and Junior are born again Christians. Anthrax have always been too comedic to ever be taken seriously IMHO. Slayer are just going through the motions.
Yep most of these things come with age.....lost because they are not young in a young persons world.
19.
Have you used them? Are they good?
I have tried a pair because i was lusting after a pair a while back. but then I was someone with a pair on & they looked like a right numpty in them & they put me off completely. Dog the Bounty hunter wears them.
20. I think the big 4 are weakening simply through age. you cant be expected to be angry when you are trying to write music by your own pool. It's the end of the big boys in my opinion, because music is now released in massive volumes the fanship is no long channeled to smaller band choice (Like the old days) I think now bands will have smaller more loyal followers rather than lots of people following larger bands. It's a new era in metal
21. I still use basic ones for riding, dont really want to knack a pair of good ones when out on the trails
22. lol so they were not covered in sand from the deserts of dry childrens tears ? My dreams are shattered
