  1. I've got one of those synth pickups to put into a Ric bass when I acquire a suitable bass to hack. I let one of the other conventionally shaped Roland bass synth guitars go by a couple of months ago; it was on ebay with a BIN of £350 and I think it may be back up at £850 at the moment.
  2. Great - I may try them in the one here (pictured at the last SE Bass Bash). A couple of these and one of those power amps should do the trick... If that works, I'll get another of the same to put the synth units back in.
  3. I don't know if the HB neck pockets will fit Fender (and compatible) necks. Not saying they don't - just that I don't know.
  4. It's like a clock - it's always right twice a day.
  5. I just picked up an Ampeg valve pre-amp, which is just great. (I tried it through the Fx Return of a MarkBass.) The problem is I now want a 2nd (for stereo). I might pick up a SansAmp one to tide me over. I think the pre-amp can make a big difference even in a home setup. That's interesting - I'm just looking at those; I've been thinking of the 4-channel one, so I can put synth pedals through it too. I'll probably go for one at the end of the month. What depth rack case do they need? I'm debating whether two 1U pre-amps plus one of those will work in a Chord 3U fabric case, or whether they'll need more room to breathe.
  6. When I looked for a pedal some years ago I found the Aguilar Octamizer sounded way better than the Boss, MXR, and a couple of other pedals I tried. I actually had people giving me compliments in the shop and asking me where I was next playing. That said, the 3 Leaf one sounded best of these.
  7. Will one of those power a Minitaur?
  8. Necro-thread time! How did it go with using a 600mA supply for the Minitaur. I have mine rack-mounted and would like something tidier than the plugboard and wall-warts currently inside.
  9. I think I'm probably going to go for a 1U rack unit.
  10. Super-cool 80's bass; that was when I realised that the Japanese didn't just make copies.
  11. 5p - that’s cheap, I thought.
  12. Oo-errrr, missus!
  13. Optimistic pricing for a HB and a cheapo practice amp and a plug-in headphone amp. Looking at the seller's other items, I think they've decided that listing in uppercase with plenty of exclamation marks and offering a bogus 40% off a ridiculous price is going to bring the punters in; I do hope nobody falls for it. They've also got a £100 Stagg V for £450 (https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/175235976965)
  14. I’d realise it, but the fact is I don’t have any more space to put it anywhere.
  15. FYI, that spacing is the same as my Warwick 5-strings. I see it’s up in Facebook too.
  16. With a Disaster Area mini switcher you can step up and down through patches/programs. However, it does then increase the effective footprint of your unit.
  17. Hmmm - that's a Para Driver DI, not a Bass Driver DI. I have to say I don't particularly know what the real-life difference is, other than what's written on the front and there's a parametric Mid control!
  18. They'd then get into loads of hassle when they blocked people sending to their mates, effectively calling their customers liars, etc. I guess they can't win either way. The bottom line is if you use F&F to send to people you don't know, then it's your risk; you've been warned. (Can't believe I'm defending PayPal, but I guess if I'm not against them then I must be with them.)
  19. In fairness to PayPal, they are clear and it's up to folks to choose to think of someone they don't know as "Friends & Family".
  20. Those Chickenbackers are based on Fender scale and tend to have the Treble pickup in the Jazz Bass position.
  21. As ever, simply do not use Friends & Family to pay people who aren't your friends or family...
  22. I like the Microbass 3's fx loop; it means it can be a pedalboard hub. The fly in the ointment for me is that I've recently acquired an Ampeg valve preamp, which has a certain sound to it (of course)... My pedalboard as-is: I'm trying out the HX Stomp replacing a number of discrete pedals and will see how that goes.
  23. It really added more authority to the sound, compared to the SansAmp BDDI which previously held the spot on my board. My only wish was that it had two of those channels rather than one plus distortion (like the Stanley Clark acoustic one).
