  1. £1500??? I've got two Thunders - I'll happily sell the pair for half that... ...any takers? No, I thought not!
  2. Always good to have someone around who can make coffee!
  3. I was watching that (on ebay?); more out of interest since I have one which had some work done and was converted to passive; I still need to get it refin'd. There was a Cowpoke neck going at a couple of Bass Bashes and retrospectively I wish I'd grabbed it.
  4. ...more Rock'n'Roll !
  5. I'm thinking Stoner Rock...
  6. This came up in a search under Musical Instruments & DJ Equipment -> Performance & DJ Equipment -> Mixers https://www.gumtree.com/p/audio-dj-mixers/mixer-/1428234891 (https:/ /i.ebayimg.com/images/g/OPIAAOSwsfJiNYtL/s-l800.webp)
  7. I generally dismiss the word "rare" in listings...
  8. Previously a number of people received tracking details to prove the item had been sent; unfortunately, they all received the same tracking id.
  9. In the past few months I've had my eye on some basses I've always wanted, but passed on them or have missed out on; these include: An Epiphone Thunderbird not far from me - the road-worn made me dither well past the point someone else bought it. A Washburn 8-string bass. A Roland (Ibanez) synth bass. A John Birch Rickenbacker copy which had a badly twisted neck. (Possibly) a Burns Flyte - needs work and asking price is higher than I'd like to pay. Is anybody else letting their bucket-list items go?
  10. A 4000 - nice!
  11. Haha - Just my thinking! i bought a nice guitar a week ago, so I’m having to be “sensible”. I’ve also forced myself to pass on a couple of bucket-list basses in the past couple of weeks. Despite that I did make an offer on a bass body this week, but there may be a mismatch between the seller’s perception of value and mine.
  12. I didn’t; though my hobby is collecting projects, I just plain have too many.
  13. Interesting - way back, I tried playing slap with the flat of my hand, like a double bass rockabilly thing; i never mastered it.
  14. Well, it is "stunning"! (Those things are heavy, so I guess a whack on the head with one would stun you, though...)
  15. Aye - I've stepped away from a couple of other instruments lately which I'd really like, but they went past my maximum.
  16. (Necro-thread...) I was out and about yesterday and I came across a Burns Flyte bass; it looked like it had been overpainted black which is starting to flake off. The seller asked £795, I said I was thinking £500 and they replied they could do £650. I think that is still too much for me, given the finish, but it seemed OK otherwise, though I didn't try plugging it in (no point if price was off). I don't recall having seen one since they were in the shops in the 70s, but rarity and value don't necessarily go hand-in-hand . Any thoughts?
  17. Perhaps the seller scared him into it.
  18. It's definitely a much sought-after blue label FENDER PRECISION BASS
  19. I did a spotter bid on that - not sure I need another project, though.
  20. When the SansAmp thing happened, I had contact from someone musicians say they hadn’t been paid for gigs.
  21. FYI, an update: a couple of weeks ago I escalated the case with ebay and got a refund of the amount paid and today I received a further refund of the UPS return postage, so I'm at net zero. OTOH, I've not spent much time with the rack and the other power-amp in it, plus I've gone and broken a finger (luckily only my right-hand pinky, but it's still a niggle when I play). On a plus side, I did pick up a rather nice Tokai Strat a couple of weeks ago, which I've had my eye on for a few years, so mustn't grumble...
  22. I've got one of these - it's a nice bass.
  23. This is the kind of thing which is handy to take to a Bass Bash!
