I found a great 4-channel 1U 4x1300 Watt power amp on ebay. It took a couple of weeks to arrive and I had to pay duty on it. I got around to connecting it up this evening. Plugged it in, pop!, house power tripped, slight electrical smell. Grrr, now I’ve got to chase up the issue with the seller. A load of hassle and presumably I’ll lose money on the inevitable return.

Well, the 4-channel one arrived from China. I decided to rack it up and give it a go this evening. Plugged it into the mains, loud pop!, smell of burnt electrics. Dammit!

A way to try it would be to turn off one of the pickups on a full T-bird and see what it sounds like.

I've got a MIM Precision and also one from parts; they are both very good basses.

With the PK-5A you can assign the Mono to one patch and the Poly to another and so change between two sounds on one switch press. It also works for octaves, which is quite handy if you're in your "Clocks" phase. Note that the Minitaur is octave limited, so it doesn't do the high notes; however, some people have used an octaver (EHX Pitchfork) to work around that.

It was sold as "Genuine Rickenbacker" - that's the issue. I can get fake ones for under a fiver.

Well, I do have an OBNE Blender which could use if I wanted to do A-B on the fly. But I'm not necessarily expecting them to sound identical, but rather do I like their sound; in that case simply plugging from one to the other and playing a song should be a valid approach. As far as real use, I'm considering running my Rickenbacker stereo and really I just picked up the SansAmp as a placeholder; however, another option is to run 2x mono with the SansAmp doing deep and the Ampeg doing grit.

Well; whilst waiting for the power amp to arrive from China (it was last tracked in Khazakhstan), I went for a day out and happened across one in a shop. Here it is in rack. Have yet to connectand swich one...

So - I picked up a power amp today - now racked with the two preamps. Nextstep is to wire it up and give it a go!

Hi, folks - I could use some help with this item I bought on ebay - is it a genuine Ric TRC? https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/275302876442 I've received it and I'm not sure; it's slightly thinner than on my Ric basses and it hasn't got the moulding dimples in the "n" and the "r" when compared to a 4003 & 4004's. It's not one of the Chinese ones with raised letters for the "Made in USA", though.

It would be a good name for a band, though.

I think the current may very much depend upon the emulations being included in the given setting.

Someone on another group said you can treble up the DC7 outputs. it is a rather pricey way to replace a wall-wart, though.

I find the Squier/Fender thing is more a case of reverse snobbery "My Squire JV beats any Fendre US" ever made and so-on. Me, I like my Rickenbackers and Warwick bolt-ons and I've no desire to go up-market from them.

Well, I am now in possession of an Ampeg SVP and a SansAmp RBI; they'll be going in a rack case along with a power amp. It'll be interesting seeing how they compare when I get the setup going. I've also got a MarkBass EVO amp which does emulations, including Ampeg; I'll see how that does as well.

Not of Rickenbacker basses! (Remember that car which was designed by the Japanese and built by Alfa?)
