  1. You'll need a different pot for a pan control; one where the mid position has both on full and then either side tapers one of the pickups away.
  2. 🙂 I'm sure you'll find it in yourself to be able to live with the disappointment.
  3. Evidently the ludicrously low price was deterring people from bidding.

    Ampeg SVP

Righty-oh; I plugged the SVP into the effects return of my Markbass Black Line 250 and it worked; I plugged in my black Ric and oh my, what a sound! Now I need another SVP so I can run the bass stereo.
  5. Well, I'm slighly in a parallel lane; after faffing around with modelling amps and valve pedals, I've bought one of these (and may get a 2nd, so I can run the bass in stereo). and am now looking for a power amp to go with it (/them).
  6. That’s a very fair price; anybody who hasn’t owned a Thunder needs to.
  7. I reckon the balance will be off kilter with all of the weight South of the strap button and it's likely the headstock will whack you in the face if you're not careful. (Mind you, if you buy that, you'll probably deserve it!)
  8. Nowt wrong with a good old bit of Araldite!
  9. https://www.gumtree.com/p/guitar-instrument/fender-precision-1996-mex-bass-guitar-/1431325225 In fairness, the seller does say "you might want to restring it as the d and g strings are on the opposite pegs. I only did it because I trimmed the g too short after boiling it and flats are pricey!"
  10. Oh no - they replaced the pickups!
  11. Well, it was put there as a whack-a-mole prevention aid because there was a spate of "You're going to laugh at this...!" threads featuring that picture, which got rather tiresome. Maybe it's served its purpose and it'd be an idea to remove it; however, I'm sure it wouldn't be long before someone re-discovers that very same never-seen-before picture for our collective joyousness... (My guess is 3 weeks, or less if someone does it as a wind-up.)
  12. I was chatting with David Konig at the Brizzle guitar show last weekend; great bloke!
  13. That should be an adventure in tuning.
  14. Sort of Warwick-ish...
  15. Fab - I guess they've resumed.

    Ampeg SVP

I think it'll be a 4U case - I'd be quite partial to an SWR in there too. Curse you - now you've got me thinking about a Trace Elliot as well as an SWR !!! 🙂

    Ampeg SVP

Ah yes... I remember working in a data centre where one computer company had installed one of their machines so its airflow fed directly into the inputs of a competitor's model; whoever signed that off didn't quite get the concept of hot and cold alleys.

Cheers - I might take a look. I have to say that my brand-o-meter would tend to lead me towards Crown, as that was the brand back in the day. I'd be looking for A 1U unit of possible. Thanks - I'll be prepared to be disappointed on that one! I've got a Black Line 250 and an EVO.

    Ampeg SVP

So, my Ampeg SVP arrived today (2nd attempt at getting one after stumbling over the deal here, but then this one came up on ebay). Now I've got to figure out what to plug it into - it might be the Fx return of a Markbass for the moment. I'll probably want a 2-channel 1U power amp to fit in a rack with the SVP (and maybe a 2nd SVP if/when, to run my Ric stereo). It'll be interesting comparing it with my other Markbass's modelling capabilities.
  20. Giant heel. I'd ditch the bridge and put a Schaller 3D on it - that's what they use on the 4004.
  21. Maybe winklepickers would work.
  22. Won't work if you've got shoes on.
  23. Are they still not doing custom work?
  24. I'm just in the process of configuring a Morningstar MC6 with my C4; it is a bit techy, though...
