  1. HI again ,flat on bass is 9 0clock or 3,middle fat is 12 0clock,5,treble 3 oclock or 7 ish. That,s why you cut the bass back you were using your ears ,always the best way I don,t bother where the knobs are .I just twiddle them till I find the best sound I can get on the night but overall I love the terror sound and there is a lot of it. By the way it,s paired with a SP212 cab and boy can that little box pump up the -was going to say volume but the number crunchers tell you they are inefficient blah blah but gig one- it works with the head.and cuts through no problem with trouser flapping and bowel moving thunder. The difference between the 500 and the 1000 to try and answer your question is TB 500 and 1 SP212 cab can handle anything and the TB1000 with 2xSP212 cabs could shatter gall stones. I don,t care about SPL,v-max etc I,ve got ears and bowels that does me-over and out
  2. hiho, the 500 is plenty loud but a 1000 with cabs to suit would be good.Only as loud as the loud knob All the early issues are resolved ,hot DI,early break up,caps etc. As to the limited EQ ,what you get is the Orange voice of the world sound with tweekability Not the answer you were after.I would reckon it,s the same but more bowl moving if you crank it.
  3. Don,t forget Vintage V4,great bass,Usa Peavey Patriot,T20 or Fury
  4. Perfect for modding but you can happily gig with one as standard. I,ve put a maple neck off a Vintage musoman copy,Wizard thumper, high mass bridge, schaller Tuners, you know the drill and it is good,oh yes it,s good. I,ll say again-perfectly good for gigging and good value S/H.Tony Butler one looks the Nads.
  5. My opinion only-Mistake dropping the Terror bass all you need to do is stick a pre amp pedal in front of it and the EQ opens up as a lot of us know.. There is plenty room in the range for all of them.Valve-AD200,Hybrid-Terror,S/S OB1 that,s all basses covered. Hey Ho what do I know, sticking with my Terror and a totaly ineficient SP212 cab. All down to economics I suppose.
  6. Keep your eyes peeled for USA Peavey basses, they are as good as a USA other make or better. Peavey Foundation as an alternitive to a P. I also have a V4 an old one and have modded it a bit, is an understatement . Good gigging bass though, good enough to keep.
  7. Hiho see sticky on impedance at top of page
  8. Hiho hope you like Orange power. Don,t be shy letting us know what you think-review
  9. Cheapest way is to stick a behringer BDI21 in front of your amp
  10. +1 on the Orange,I,m an old Ampeg and 8x10 user and I don,t miss it now I,m on Orange OBT 500 and a SP 2112 cab. Heads are going for about £350-bargain
  11. Hartke/Peavey keeps the cost down, good enough to gig with. What you need for the road is reliability, robustness , a decent sound and price. Depends on what you can fit in your car and afford.
  12. I,ve thought of doing this but never got round to it. If I needed a low B then this is the way I would go,set of strings, new nut and off you go,of course a set up but we can do that ourselfs ?.Keep the original nut and a set of ordinary strings, change over in minutes if needed.
  13. They do those pens in Lidl n Aldi and there is someone making a fortune out them on ebay with stupid mark up
  14. The other way is to get a piece of foam and trim it till it just touches the strings and no more.Takes a few attempts to get right. Carol Kaye/Bob Babbit aproach. Great for recording.
  15. Jeez,Whit ! 4 x OTB 1000-maniac
  16. Hiho, they are good. Can you turn the stand and piccie the walnut Ricky. cheers
  17. Peavey Foundation for me,does it all.Cheap as chips, formidable build quality ,plays a dream and sounds great.Musicman build quality,I,ve got both. T 40 sounds amazing with the same bullet proof build quality. It,s what your comfortable with in the end not what,s on the headstock.
  18. 2x 8 ohm cabs one cab or 2 depending on gigs/practice
  19. Hiho, just an observation-Last night I gigged with my Orange OBT 500 after the band summer holiday,it is a class D.There was no lack of uuuumph and it sounded great. It,s in the design.A good sounding amp with uuuumph is always a good sounding amp wiith uuumph,it doesn,t really matter and I,ve been through some amount of amps and cabs in my time and I,m converted and a lot easier than putting a valve head on top of a 8x10 or trying to squeeze it in a car/awkward load ins.
  20. Hipshot bridge, looks better anyway and palm muting a delight
  21. I,ve never heard anybody say that an Orange Terror bass is short in the underpants department. I use a SP212 cab isobaric and it carries and slams no problem.
