Did the scratchplate get sanded too? Looks weird. Was it together enough to play, or did it arrive disassembled? If it’s a good player and you had it for a good price, screw the retail/collectibility! Some sort of off white would look nice.

I couldn't stand the way the raised pole pieces made the A string twice as loud as all the others! Swapped them for some Seymour Duncan Quarter Pounders. Also put a gold anodized scratch plate on it (had to re-drill a few holes - sshhhhhh!).

The big magnets and general shape of the cones makes me think it's a bass cab as opposed to a guitar cab. I'd expect guitar speakers to be more rigid looking. Those things look like they move well.

Afraid I have to wait a bit longer - appears there is a bit of a buzz coming through the cab. Tried different basses, leads, heads and cabs, but the buzz only happens through the Barefaced. Alex and co have been super helpful so far in trying to remotely diagnose the issue. Seems most likely at present to be an overly enthusiastic delivery person smashing the sh*t out of everything in their "care". It's in a box waiting for Barefaced to arrange collection

Hello chaps. This pretty little set up replaces a 35 year old Peterson combo. Super heavy! I plugged the Ampeg in to the Peterson combo purely because it arrived before the cab, so it was a good A/B with the Peterson head. The Ampeg sounds cleaner, deeper and clearer. Now I'm plugged in to the Barefaced, it's just even more so. A nice balance. Our next practice is toward the end of the month (dammit), so I'll see how it fares proper there. There is a slight buzz coming from it, so I need to investigate further. I dropped Barefaced a quick email and they responded within a couple of hours with a really positive and logical set of things to try - fantastic customer service. I need to try some different bits tonight to see wher the problem lies. Doubt it'll be the cab, hope it's not the head, if it's the bass I can deal with that (by getting a new one!)

Fantastic! Makes me want to push on and get my build done with a big chunk of ash my dad gave me 20 years ago!

I play in a 9 piece function band, with a soundie and a good PA. The whole kit is mic'd. I think it's usually total overkill! When we rehearse, we use an active wedge for vocals, nothing else mic'd up. Always sounds great, always feels good. Why not this way in a pub?! My thinking is, I'm there to provide entertainment, to enhance a punters night. Not hold them in place with decibels/deafen them! It's not all about the band! I think if more people subscribed to a more modest volume approach, more people would enjoy the music (and form nicer memories chatting with their friends etc) and maybe there would be more gigs for us lot to play!!!

It looks familiar. Maybe just a case of bass-ja-vu! Tony Packer of Music Repair Services Wales who fixed my Peterson said he had a fantastic and enlightening conversation with the designer of the amp (guessing he was referring to Pete Tullett). Also said he'd suffered a stroke, poor fella.

[/quote] Unfortunately immobilisers are only a deterrent. Merc Sprinters are one of, if not the most stolen van in the U.K. Having said that, it was an old one - the gangs tend to target newer stuff. Hopefully their kit will be returned and not just dumped down an embankment or something.

Hello. Nice bass there, did you post that somewhere else previously? I think my P120 just popped its clogs (again). Not sure I can face the £190 repair bill. Sad face. Last time it conked out I was just about to play pretty decent sized gig. Luckily the venue had a Trace 2x10 combo in the back so I used that. Had a wedding gig a week ago and I couldn't hear myself at all. The Soundie put a monitor up for me mid gig (ah, the luxury!) but he said it sounded fine out the front. I assumed i was in a null or something, but firing it up today I'm hearing distortion again. Not quite as bad as last time where it just sounded like farts, but still not a great sign. I have a mah-hoosive retirement gig next week (some loaded surgeon retiring) in a prestigious venue, so gonna have to borrow something. Still , every cloud and all, now that new rig is justifiable to the wife!

Just buy a load of loft insulation, but leave it in it's packaging. Stack it up, see if it makes a difference. If not, return to shop. Ps, you won't return to shop.

Yooze guys are damn cool! I've been messaging Chienmortbb about his earlier post - so if the CNC doobry wotsit fits in with his plans, then count me as another interested party! What lower priced cute little class D head do you think would suit? Because I'm shallow, I like the look of the Fender Rumble 200 and the Ampeg pf350. I play a P with flats and want to be just like James Jamerson when I grow up. Both unlikely events.

I'm lugging this heavy inefficient beast to gigs, it's aged nicely I feel...
