  1. Barf! That looks like Mr Tumble specc’d it!
  2. Bass can be an derrière to get “right” sound-wise recording, but live performances in general lift a piece of music. Just try programming any well known highly repetitive song via midi only, and it just turns to poop. It’s all about The performance.
  3. What ever that bass is, it’s great! So much so, there’s a Monty Python style hand pointing it out.
  4. Nice! I’d often thought about using car amps. Nice to see it implemented, and so well too!
  5. I had a weird sound with my One10. Alex and co were ace in helping me diagnose the issue. Turned out it wasn’t the cab!
  6. I can’t answer your questions, but I can think people will as this; If it goes well, would you do other people’s at a price? If yes to the above, where are you based?
  7. Or.... you have a genuine Fender custom one off. I prefer the glass half full point of view!
  8. Hmmm, nice! I’m tempted daily to do very little work (nothing to do with bass guitars though).
  9. I quite like the partially obscured name on the headstock - I’d keep it as is! I keep looking at the Deko section for one of these. I’m reluctant to pay full price for something I may well eff up.
  10. Wow - that is good! I might look in to Orange next time I’m looking for a new amp.

That looks fantastic! Such lines! Any sound clips to share, sir?
  12. There’s a lot going on in that picture - the carpet is nuts!
  13. Soothing? It came up with an ad for some zombie apocalypse game tagged on to the start!
  14. Cheers dudes! I like the non-standard standard look.
  15. Hello chaps. I was watching the Mike Oldfield Tubular Bells documentary last night, and his Fender caught my eye, but I can’t determine the model. Could anyone oblige?
  16. If the amp doesn’t make the bad noises with nothing plugged in, I’d hazard a guess it’s what you are plugging in to it. Active bass needs new batteries? Bass needs earthing/shielding?
  17. I thought you were going to paint the ports, but it looks really cool now it’s all done. Classy looking.
  18. I’ve been fiddling again! It’s now slightly lower than before, but high enough to fight back a little, which I think i’m comfortable with. Probably more importantly, the string height is even across all strings now. I think I prefer the tone with the strings a little higher, too. I could put the pickups down of course, but then I’d have nowhere to rest my thumb! I think I’m set (til I can afford a proper set up). Thanks folks!
  19. Thank you Kumimajava! I’d come to the conclusion that it was a big jump to make, and also that I should get a proper set up to sort issues with the frets. I bought this bass a few years ago from the original owner who bought it new in 1983 or 84, and I don’t think it’s been looked at by a luthier in that whole time! When I have a few quid, I know of a good local chap to take it to (where I’ll request a 2.75mm action!)
  20. I suppose I was just wondering if there was a ‘normal’, and if was a bit on the high side. Point taken about the subjectivity of it all, as mentioned above, just was wondering to see if I could make life easier for myself. Turns out I’m happy being a smidge on the high side!
  21. Already dropped it a mil before anyone else responded - I don’t like it! I thought it’d be easier on my daddy longlegs fingers, but it clangs too much compared to what ive been used to these past however many years I’ve had this bass. Therre we go - live and learn and all that!
  22. Cool - thanks! Looks like I’m just over 3mm at the twelfth fret now, so I’ll put it down a bit. I’m sure there are many possibilities, but what then would be high or low? Also, is there any resource that would provide well known players preferences? Just a thought.
