Pea Turgh

Can anyone suggest a good set of strings for this bass? My usual preference is D’Addario chrome flats 40/60/80/100, but I can’t see that they make double ball end versions. Not adverse to rounds, just prefer flats. Also thinking of upgrading the preamp, or going passive. I’m venturing in to new territory there, so advice gratefully received! Thanks in advance!

Sooo, this stalled! I’ve put together a bitsa and bought a headless Hohner Jack since starting this thread, so simultaneously scratched a new bass itch and reached a reasonable limit of new basses (according to Mrs Turgh). However, all is not lost - I still have those parts, so I’ll have to build it at some point! But it will have to wait until after I do a slightly bigger build - my garden studio! Once that’s done, I feel the new bass embargo will be unenforceable. Mww hah hah hah!!!!

Excellent! Those screws will pull out eventually though! Have you seen the ones made out of old skateboards? Just as colourful but probably harder wearing.

Hello. I’m planning on building a recording/rehearsal room in my garden. I’m going to use a trusted studio designer for the final leg, but it in preparation I want to sound out my inevitable constraints with the local planning office, so I want to doo some basic planning for some pre-application advice. Can anyone recommend some free planning-type software please?

DI out is supposed to be at mic level (which is lower than line level), but confusingly sometimes manufacturers make them line level. Maybe your soundie is used to line level DI’s but your amp is mic level?

Every time I went in that shop I left disappointed. No wonder they closed.

As a teenager I wanted a drum kit, but ended up with a bass! Have done a couple of gigs on drums - I just like making noise, really.

I had a stingray copy that a local luthier made a neck for, and my dad shaped the body. The neck had mis-drilled holes for the tuner screws and a plug where he’d also mis-drilled a damn tuner shaft! You could also feel where the truss rod route was quite close to the back of the neck. I was a 15 yr old introvert when the neck was made - obvs would just bop him on the noggin for trying to charge for such a pigs diner these days! Broken for parts and forgotten about.

This one here caught my eye: Quite tempted myself but I’m fixed on going BF Two10.
