1. ...BTW, All the basses that I modified were Alder; Is yours Ash or Alder? I would imagine that the ash would be a little brighter again - I have an Ash bodied Bacchus jazz with a Bartolini boost only preamp and I think I'll have to change the pre to allow me to cut-back on the treble! The Badass made an alder bodied maple/R'wood necked vintage sound almost as bright as my stingray and Bacchus (Both of these basses have high-mass bridges - I think the Bacchus is a Gotoh, but not the same models as I tried on the 62's...) In terms of fitting, doesn't the Marcus Miller have a Badass fitted as stock?... Cheers, Sean
2. Hi, I have only recently finished modifying 3 Fender 62RI jazz basses, and I bought a Badass II, a Gotoh 201 and a Gotoh 203 by way of some comparative analysis. The Badass has been tried with stock Fender MIJ pups, '97 Fender US PUPS, Kent Armstrong Vintage and Lindy Fralins, as have the GOTOHs. The Badass immediately improved the sustain, resonance and high end on the stock PUPs and the improvements with the KAs andFralins was amazing. (US Fenders performed the worst but this is a subjective opinion - they just did not float-my-boat with any of the bridges). However, the 2 Gotoh bridges also performed very well and the only noticable difference was that the improvement in high end "glassiness" was not as notable as with the Badass (It was there if you wanted it, but just not as pronounced...). However, on a purely aesthetic level, the Gotohs look better (at least IMHO on a vintage looking Fender), the Badass looked crude on a very vintage looking bass, but this was probably partly because a Roland GK pickup makes the bass look a little "busy" anyway... The Badass now resides on an Audere/Kent Armstrong equipped 62RI, the 203 (the lighter Gotoh) resides on a jazz fretless, and the 201 Gotoh resides on the Fralin/passive "most vintage" looking '62! If I was doing another bass I would lean towards the Gotoh bridges unless I wanted a very bright glassy tone. You can go some way towards this with the Gotoh's - which IMHO performed equally well in terms of sustain and resonance - but the Badass just does the "glassy" part of the job a little better... All the best, Sean
3. I saw the Gotoh..., I shot off a quick reply and thought to myself - "I was quick off the mark there!..." .... then in quick succession I saw the time of original mail and got your response and said to myself; "not so fast after all hey!?.." Thems the breaks I guess... The Gotoh are great bridges by the way aren't they? I have them on a couple of basses and am considering replacing a BadassII with one also... All the best, Sean
4. ... I was a gun-slinger in a previous life; naturally I died young and left a good-looking corpse!...
5. ah nooooo!.... more head-wrecking - Why did I spot this!?!?!?!?.... And now it's active as well...  ...Hi Gwil, by the way, Sean
6. Hi Pram, Why not drop the price to £990 or very nearest offer? Alternatively wire it as a passive, enjoy it and maybe wait until the market improves... IMHO unless you are really hard-pressed you can't go wrong if you hold on to it. I was sorely skint during the last recession and sold a number of lovely basses - not alone there I'd say - that would now be worth funny-money if I had held on to them (Early MMs, Warwicks...). ...Sure lots of us didn't have an arse in our trousers back then and in my case selling the basses only provided short-term relief from the grief!... ...we used to travel to gigs on a pit-bull pulled three-wheeled roller-skate and make our guitar strings from the intestines of recently deceased relatives, for f**ks sake!!!...) Good luck with the sale if this is what you decide to do, and enjoy what looks like a lovely bass if you keep it... :
7. Hi Zak, Did you get my e-mail regarding the Q-tron?..., all the best, Sean
8. ...the fun and games might have been a "two-way-street" here methinks: how would "avin a giraffe" translate into German I wonder?... Sean
9. ...did I hear sombody asking about kettle leads?... I just saw a very unsavoury looking, grease-spattered, battered kettle loitering in a very suspicious manner in our kitchen a short while ago... rumour has it hes's a real hard-boiled bugger also detective, so tread cautiously, I'd say...

11.
I was sent a Squire bass in a clear plastic bag. ... If ye'll excuse the mixed metathingys - I hope it wasn't a case of "buying a rig-in-a-bag"?... Should I now join MB1 outside in the rain? sub-a-dub ...now what's the bets I'll make a rigs-ear of uploading this?...
12. ...Jeez, these are the dog's b****x! I have one as well that I use in the attic for practice along with a little Roland stereo PA (2 cm 30's) for effects etc., and if I let the mind wander a little it's serious leg-on-the-monitor/"thank you!, goodnight..." territory. At this price an absolute steal!!! Hello Chris by the way - I really enjoy the sales threads!!... Best of luck with the sale All the best from Ireland, Sean
13.
Yes, sure. Postage will probably be more, but i'll check it out.
That's great! By the way apologies over making offer "in public" - maybe I should have pm'ed you but I was minding my three year old and got distracted and just poped off a reply... Thanks a lot, Sean
14.
I am looking to sell this classic pedal for the tidy sum of £90. No trades please, as I have bought tickets to see the prodigy and they were 'tre expensive' It is perfect working condition, and excellent cosmetic condition. A few inevitable scratches on that painted metal sheet box. This is the old style, which is infinitley cooler. Also has original box, but not original power supply (I've had so many and they keep breaking) so it comes with a variable voltage psu which works great. About £10 postage would cover it I reckon. Pics soon - PM for questions.
I will take this if you would post to Ireland... Thanks, Sean
15. Hi Rumple, I'll take the pups if you don't mind posting to Ireland - if you need to add a bit to cover postage that's no problem either... All the best, Sean
16. Hey Keir, How are things? Are you still laying down basslines with that gorgeous fretless?... All the best, Sean
