  1. I had one of these and it’s amazing. The perfect travel guitar and sounds great recorded as well. It’s Yamaha so that’s a given
  2. The quality of these basses is quite incredible. I gig all over with Mexican basses, love them
  3. I though I'd typed "shots" (as in stock shots), but my hand must have slipped!
  4. The never ending work on my house never ends! The original owners painted the Bath stone frontage which has crumbled beneath it. Had a couple of expert stonemasons to complete the work, and 6 months later it looks as good as new. But not cheap! Still got a list of stuff that needs doing, and I have to be realistic and reasonable.
  5. Had an answer to this now. So no worries!
  6. The scale length is for a 3/4 bass and the bridge is full size. The soundboard is suspended so it resonates as a real DB does. It’s fitted with D’addario Helicore stings. There is a piezo pickup under the bridge foot. You can also add a Realist pickup (because the sound board resonates). There are two white lines to help you position the bridge if it shifts in transit. The DB shoulders are removable. The neck can be adjusted (tilted) to find the best action using a standard hex key.
  7. This isn’t rambling, it’s 100% what I needed (and why Basschat is amazing). I was hoping I wouldn’t need a preamp but maybe an FDeck (or Fishman) would do the job. Seems there’s no single solution, but I sort of assumed that was the case. I really appreciate your considered reply and advice. Thank you! I think I will still invest in a Helix just now I know I’ll need to sort something for DB if/when I gig again.
  8. This is a hard one, but needs must! This is an almost mint condition MK jazz EUB. I bought his at the end of 2019, and Mirko at MK did and incredible job of delivering what is the best double bass substitute out there. The pictures are from Mirko but this hasn’t been played much. During lockdown I was able to pay my Bryant bass and nothing has changed. This comes with the fitted soft case, everything you need from Mirko and a hefty discount on a new price (with no import duties). Images here… (they look like stock stinky poos but they’re my bass. He does it for every new owner…)
  9. Hi guys, don’t want to hijack the thread, but could I ask this question (posted on the DB forum but you guys probably know more…) I play bass, DB and guitar and I have lots of pedals and preamps and am wondering whether the Helix would be appropriate for DB (I know it is for guitar and bass) I’ve previously used a Fishman Platinum but don’t use this anymore. Any advice welcomed!
  10. Hi all. I play bass, DB and guitar and I have lots of pedals and preamps and am wondering whether the Helix would be appropriate for DB? Ive previously used a Fishman Platinum but don’t use this anymore. Any advice welcomed!
  11. Can you afford it? If yes, will you use it? If yes, do you care about brand names? If no, get a Squier (the more expensive models are amazing) If yes, get a fender player series or search out a Japanese Fender. (If rich, buy a vintage one you never play)
  12. It’s more that the string isn’t swayed on the bridge properly. Can’t imagine this is a bass that’s played much.
  13. Yeah I’ve had that on a few. Yucky!
  14. Chatted with the auctioneer and this one went back to the States. Something to do with the collapse of the pound… (best left for another thread!)
  15. Keith was a 100% gentleman despite me messing him around for a while with collection issues. Equipment was exceptional, walkthrough comprehensive and he even ensured I didn’t crash my car when leaving! Can ask for no more:
  16. My brother (record dealer) once put a cheeky bid on 10,000 I sorted 7” singles. Two days later a pallet turned up and unloaded 10,000 unsorted 7” records. Ever since then I’ve avoided a cheeky bid on anything!
  17. So should I! I’ve always been too scared to bid too much. I set a limit and that’s it, but I can see how it’s easy to get sucked into the whole thing. If they money has been legitimately obtained then fair play to whoever bought it. If it makes them happy, can’t be that bad (Sheryl Crow)
  18. I was the OP! Just checked out the sale record and it was £14k before fees. My memory is awful.
  19. Fair enough. Seems utterly preposterous to me, but it seems even at that price there’s some margin in it. Action was high and the old girl had seen better days. What makes me smile is the thought of the owner (or more likely the owners’ family) getting a call explaining how the bass sold for 10 times the estimate.
  20. That’s before the 33% commission. So total sale price is a £18,620.
  21. Looks like a lovely bass in genuine original condition. Let's hope this one makes someone really happy (and doesn't end up being sold elsewhere for a much higher price).
  22. Haha, I wasn't bidding on this one. I bought the 12 string Taylor guitar. That's a great deal for a £900 guitar!
  23. Ahh were you there as well? I’ve bought a few bits from those guys and they’re really lovely.
