  1. This is the arch top model which has been hand carved (apparently) and with the roasted maple neck. Quite how this is possible for the price I don’t know. Perhaps it’s best not to ask!
  2. Looking for a quirky guitar for home noodling or for a little one? This is an excellent condition Jackson Dinky! This has been played a few hours (if that). Plastic remains on the back and the truss rod cover. The only minor blemish is a small spot on the first shark fin inlay. I’ll set it up with new strings before sending. No case, but I have several suitable boxes to post. It you can collect from Bristol! These cost almost £300 new, but this one is £135 £125 as I need the space. 3. She doesn’t need to spend more money on boxes. Better headphones will do the job! Several of the solutions here cost hundreds of pounds and involve lots of wires and complexity. Use your amp, get better headphones, and save money.
  4. It sets expectations though, and I’ve been to enough auctions to know how it works. Looks like a piece of junk to me, and is hardly collectible in its current state.
  5. Everyone has chopped on with a good solution, but given you already have an amp you’re happy with, then why bother investing lots in something else? Stick an Ad in the wanted section below and I’m certain someone will have some headphones for sale at a good price you can use. I did have a set of Behringer over ear headphones I would give you but I gave them to my mum! These are £12, come with the adaptor and will do the job. Yes, it won’t sound as good as a £400 WAZA air, but they’re a tenner and will do just fine for quiet practice.
  6. Auctioneer’s estimate is crazy. £5.5k + 31% fees… You’re looking at £9,000 for a refinished guitar that’s not in its original case. And the vendor “advises is working” - thanks for that! I’d steer clear of this at £3,000
  7. Firstly, sorry for your loss. The bass should be appraised by a professional, who could sell it on commission for you. Alternatively, you can pay for a professional assessment and sell it privately. Remember that dealers have sizeable overheads to pay (including premises, operating costs and a salary) and you'll likely get less in a private sale than if you were selling in a shop (not that it stops some people).
  8. I did a gig with him and he was a tremendously nice man. Think I was 22 at the time and I didn’t really know who he was, but he was friendly and helpful. A true gent.
  9. Unleash your inner Dave Gilmour! Here’s an (almost) mint 2021 FSR Mexican Strat. It's as-new, with just one tiny mark on it (pictured). It's a Guitar Guitar Ltd edition and comes with the hand-wound Fat 50s pickups with the raised pole pieces. It's a much more vintage-sounding guitar than the same year Player Strat I have. The plastic is off the plate but remains on the neck plate and rear plate. I'm pretty sure I have all the hangtags for it, and I certainly have the term arm. There is one slight ding which you can't see when it's being played (joy of a black finish!), but I've pictured it, so you can see it. Looking for £399, which is a significant saving from the brand new price (which is £749). I have a Fender guitar box and can send this to you ASAP so it gets there safe and sound before Christmas.
  10. Isn’t indemnity for accidents (a PA stack falls on a dancing punter) and indemnity for a professional issue (that you’re rubbish and the venue sues you for the ticket fees back).
  11. Regardless of any comment on the fella building these things (I’m a bit weird too!), but that bridge is never going to hold up, is it?
  12. The answer was: No! Apparently the Helix won't boost the DB's low output signal, so you need to run it through a pre-amp to achieve this. You could then stick the DB through the Helix, but it's not going to provide the single solution I had hoped for.
  13. If you love the bass you’ll find a way! You could get your luthier to use filler or just get on with it. I have damaged all my basses in the end, not through recklessness of negligence, but use. Doesn’t affect my enjoyment of them.
  14. Ahh, I"m going to be at work that day and it's too heavy for me to carry into the office. I *may* be able to fish it out and drop it in during the next few days. Leave it with me and I'll let you guys know a plan. Whatever happens, it's yours .
  15. send me a message. It’s in my loft so happy to keep it for you as long as I know you’re coming!
  16. Thats the classic “Selmer refin”. In the end, it was a network of refinishers who applied the red on top of the sunburst (they didn’t strip the paint off). It does seem plausible, but worth chatting with an expert. Good luck with the sale, it looks a lovely bass.
  17. I was given this guitar/bass practice chair but I don’t use it or need it. It’s been stored in my loft and while not in mint condition is still good! Free to collector from Bristol. This is heavy and there is 100% no chance I can send it to you, package it up etc, so please don’t ask.
  18. Certainly did! Hes got such exceptional timing, and it’l sounds lovely. I’ve been a huge Smiths fan for about 25 years. Don’t listen to them anymore really, but the bass playing helped me develop my own style. Good luck with the single too, sounds great!
  19. I’ve bought stuff from Japan before. The sellers are, by UK standards, exceptional. Descriptions are accurate and the standard of second hand goods very high. The Japanese are very discerning. (My brother is a record dealer and his wife is Japanese and they spend several months there a year. He’s never once had an issue with a second hand sale). Of course, you’ll need to pay import duties, but there are several calculators that can help you calculate it. From memory it’s something like 30% on top (but I’m tired and this may be well out!) If you’re buying from an established and reputable seller I can’t see there being a problem.
