5.
oh crap, just when I thought I couldn't find anything else to spend money on... my only concern is whether I'd want to risk my ipad with the drunken-monkey footed punters we get at some of our gigs
Indeed.... time for the cattle prod to be fixed to the end off the bass.....
  6. indeed.... and it's not just Digitech FX either... they have boss,TC and EHX

Just been reading about this.... looks like a great idea... http://digitech.com/en-US/products/ipb-10

  9.
In the OP's defence, I am currently getting the following ads on my work pc basschat session: Single Women on Match.com Thousands of Single Women are waiting for you. Sign up for Free! www.match.com Fixed Price Repairs Value for Money Fixed Price Repairs on All Citroën Models of Any Age. I repeat, this is my work pc, in the office, so absolutely no pron or "singles" site accessing, nor have I ever owned, or enquired about spares for, a Citroen.
Yeah ok.... we believe you....
  10. I thought that the ad's were driven by either websites that are from or related to cached items on your computer....
  11. There are several European Manufacturers centralising and closing UK distribution. it's been happening for some time now.... some companies you might not even know this has happened.
  12. Rocket Love and As if you read my mind are my faves.
  13. One of the best things for acoustic guitar live is to buy a feedback stopper plug. They cost about a tenner but deal with feedback problems nicely, especially if it's a fairly loud gig
  14. Can I just ask.... Is Slap bass in the upright world frowned upon as much as it is in the Electric world? Genuine question
  15.
You're asking questions I'd also like answers to - looks like we're both in the same boat. How can you tell a multi input recorder, when it's plugged into the computer via a USB port, what track to record onto??? - beats the @*%t out of me. must be do-able I suppose. Let's hope someone enlightens us both. Oggy
Depending on the software.... each channel strip on screen allows you to select which input/output from the connected hardware.... then it's just a case of activating the record function... like a tape recorder
  16.
I'm not trying to be unfair to anyone intentionally. It sounds like there is bad blood and I do not wish to get involved, even at a distance. I appreciate all companies have teething problems with products sometimes, and my cab may have been one of those.I am not quibbling about the sound;far from it,as it is good to my ears.My gripe has been with the build quality. As you are using Chilli cabs, you must be happy with the sound and the build of them.So how do they sound?
I like them.... I've found the build quality and sound comparable to my Aguilar set up. I can't comment if you've had issues with the cabs you've bought, you obviously need to speak with Mike about getting it sorted but had issue with what you were saying about the Bass Merchant saying that there are issues.... all I'm saying is that comment isn't fair as them is history with them and Mike.
  17.
What 'history'? As far as I know, the cabs,be they Zoot or Purple Chilli are/were made by the same outfit. I really wanted to support a British company making a good product, but it just did not happen.I can only hope that P-Chilli(sounds like a rapper )have upped thier game. But,as my previous post said, now that the rattles are cured,it sounds good.
Not really for me to say on a public forum, but there is History.... Bass Merchant was originally started by Mike Walsh who also makes Purple Chili and Zoot. The new cabs are sweet.... though Mike is now concentrating more on the guitar cabs.
  18.
I have a Zoot 2x12,which was the marque before Puple Chilli. So far,I have had to have the control panel replaced, and have removed the tweeter which was so badly seated it caused a rattle. Yes,it is light to carry and the sound from the Celestian drivers is good, but IMHO the build quality is far below what I would expect for the price range. Even Bassmerchant told me they had recieved complaints about them.
I don't think it's fair to have that quote here as there is 'history' with Iceni Zoot and the Bass Merchant
  19.
Hi crez5150 I'll have a look on the web at that 'Logic Express' software you mention - what would I do without Google? What sort of hardware set up do you use? I'm thinking on the lines of something with +/- 8 inputs for separate instrument / vocal tracks. I can see that now I'm Bass and Amp GAS free I'll be getting recording gear RGAS - Agggghhhh. Oggy
GAS for studio equipment gets way more expensive than bass gear.... I exclusively use MOTU units. I have a mix of 828's and 896... I really like the MOTU equipment as it's rock solid and built extremely well MOTU
  20.
Basschaters I’m really getting into GarageBand on my Mac, (stuffing around with the effects and EQ) editing numbers that I record via a Zoom recorder at our band practice sessions. I’m now getting to a point where I want to do bit more and am looking for a few pointers on what Audio recording software and hardware other Basschaters use and why? I’m not sure, that GarageBand is the way forward, I hear lots of other software being referred to on this site, and perhaps a different brand would be better? Anyway it’d be interesting to get other Basschaters to let us (me) all know what they get up to on the recording side of things – some of the stuff I hear on this very site, done with imagination and low budget, has been really very good quality – how do you do it chaps? Oggy
I'd say that seeing as you've already a Mac and played with Garageband.... have a look at Logic Express.... loads of features that integrate nicely with your existing system for about £60. There are others and some are free too.... such as Audacity and Reaper.... I prefer Digital Performer for serious recording and use Logic also
  21.
That is something I noticed when I got my first Status, they certainly demand a delicate touch to extract the best from them. They'll show up every imperfection in your playing and your touch just by virtue of their construction, every fluff is amplified and every rattle comes through crystal clear. Settle into them and get used to it though, and you'll find that there are few basses which can sound as good. See the below video for a very good recording of what a Status bass sounds like (and some incredible playing): Listen to those sharply defined lows, the ever-present mids and the bright, musical highs. Each note is so well defined it can take some adjustment of your playing to get the best from them. By comparison, a wooden bass with old strings is a comfy pair of slippers! However Machines, I'm sure you'll find a suitable Status in future, although I suspect it won't be a Stealth!
He needs a hair scrunchie on that neck........
  22.
It didn't like my GB at all.. Wouldn't trigger anything correctly. Performed well with my RIM (9v Aguilar Pre) but surprisingly sounds absolutely stunning with my Roscoe (Bart 18v Pre). I expected the 18v Pre to be the reason the GB struggled with it and Bart pre's are generally considered very hot, but it works an absolute treat! Shep
This. Most of these synth pedals need a hot signal. A lot of people moan about the fact that synth pedals don't trigger accurately or suffer with a 'drone' tone. I use a Status Kingbass with 18v pre...drives the pedal nicely
  23.
Hi, I've had one of these for a couple of years and was wondering has anyone got any interesting presets they could share ?!! I've played about with the editing features but have never been convinced with my own attempts, other than a moog taurus-a-like that popped up on TB. Thanks !
To be honest... I'm really disappointed with this pedal. I mostly use a couple of Akai SB-1 (deep impact) and thought the Mark Bass unit would be a good unit to bolster with but the sounds are no-where in the same league. I'm looking to offload my one
  24.
Not sure I'd want to listen to one of their tracks let alone 20. I still haven't forgiven them for that brief period where it seemed that dreadful ruby song seemed to be played everywhere I went. Novel concept, but why not just offer the lot for £15 and save all the farting about?
Now some of you might be thinking: "HANG ON! I don't want to do all that. I just want to listen to an album and download it if I like it. I can't be arsed to sell it! Do that yourselves!" Yep. That is completely fair and you can do that too by visiting the ALBUM H.Q. There you'll find the best selling versions of the album and some of our favourites too.
