Roadworns are MIM and are more expensive than the MIA highway one series. Sorry for being pedantic. My old guitard teacher would say "Old bassist uses a fender and an ampeg"
fixed )
Can anyone recommend any good ones? Are there bad ones? Just dunno....
Buy Neutrik and steer clear of everything else!

Had one of these from the Gallery back in the mid 90's..... stunning basses, really really comfortable to play

Hi I've played there a few times..... Just make it very clear to the Bride and Groom before the event that it's beyond your control. You'll just have to play within it's limits.
This is a cheap and easy way to insulate and soundproof- http://www.planetinsulation.co.uk/ZGA3050.php We use it at work quite a lot for lofts/Studding ect.
Heat insulation maybe.... not efficient for sound insulation -
Depends on your budget. We use a K-Array Redline 200 system. Unbelievably lightweight, Extremely compact and gives great projection. It's active also. We have used it for audiences of up to 400 in large rooms such as the dining/function rooms at the NEC.
It was absolutely awful, I couldn't get a decent sound. I DI'd and apparently it sounded ok out front but I don't mind telling you I did a lot of knob twiddling that night.
Placing subs on a hollow stage...... Textbook Error!
Mid-80s. Think clutterbuckery. Luckily, the fashionable phase didn't last long enough to create a vast reservoir of unfashionable headless basses, and preceded any 5-string fashionableness as well.
Fixed
Right now he is looking at doing the gig on a pretty terrible P-Bass...he's not thrilled with the prospect! Could be interesting!
I say let him do it.... take him out of his comfort zone.... let him really show us what he's capable of! -
John is based up in Scotland again these days. You can reach him through his website - http://www.johngiblin.com/
Dunno about the strings, as I have not yet ordered any - but I bought a hard case from them a few weeks ago and it took over two weeks to arrive. Not too bad ten years ago maybe, but I ordered an espresso coffee machine on Amazon last November. Order placed 4pm on friday evening, delivered 9am the next day!! Unusual maybe, but I think any delivery from within the UK that takes more than three or four days now is poor.
Bit of an unfair comparison.... a multi million pound organisation compared to a cottage industry company. I'd like to see how it would fair if you were trying to return your coffee machine.... I'm sure if you were returning something to Status they'd sort it much much quicker than Amazon would
I ordered some strings from Status 13 March, not arrived yet! I called them 2 weeks ago to ask about delivery, they said they would be with me soon, and implied that I was being a bit impatient?? Is this normal for Status strings? Is each set hand made from scratch, is this normal? Am I being unreasonable? What's the normal lead time for Hotwires in your experience? I ended up ordering a different make from another supplier in the end, and they have arrived at the luthiers' who is making me a bass. John
I always buy my strings from Rob and Dawn and yes sometimes it is a lil slow..... I've had to wait a couple of weeks before but normally delivery is around 4 days from order

Check out the Purple Chili range.... very light

Ive found with the Deep Impact that Active basses work far better. I'm using a Status through mine and because of the 18v pre-amp it tracks far better than with other 9v pre's i've tried.... no problems on the B string either.
So my band have just recorded a three track cd of covers with the intention of distributing it to pub/club owners to try and get more gigs. Have any of you guys any experience of this?, is it effective?. Also, where do we stand legally by recording covers re. the PRS?
I'd say fairly illegal unless they are out of publishing or you have the PRS rights

Why would you put a bass in the hold....??
-
I'm here though fully 'booked up' with meetings.... I saw Tomkent on the KV2 stand but he was chinwagging. I'll be on the Inter-M stand for an hour tomorrow if anyone is around in the morning..... Just off to the K-array bash!
I decided to go with 2x12s in the end (I was expecting it to take longer to go through haha). I can't imagine a situation where a 2x12 would be too much and 1 2x12 is smaller than 2 1x12s if I was limited on room, so it kinda made more sense to me. It'd be nice to have a micro rig, but I don't feel I really need it. Really looking forwards to getting some alone time with the MB Fusion!
I use the MB500 but had the fusion on loan for a couple of months.... really good head!! (oooer)

Using 2 x DB112 more than I ever need. Playing from small pubs to large stages (playing a function at the NEC next week) and never have any problems with not enough volume

you could go see Mike if your in Cambridge, he's just over near Witham Essex

+1 to the Purple Chilli's Fantastic cabs weigh virtually nothing
