I bought a Reunion Blues bag 30 years ago (ish). I will never need to buy another.

I made the rookie error of trusting one of my students. A long time ago I took my class of hairy rockers into a theatre pit to play West Side Story with the Performing Arts dept on stage. I downloaded the whole thing on Midi Files and then loaded them into Logic. I printed them out as TAB and handed them to my hairys. To make sure we had a safety net I had piano tracks on a CD. This was back in the day. We radically were running a silent pit with everyone on cans. There were some tidy players in the pit with 3 drummers sharing duties and everyone getting a good crack at it given numerous shows. The fight scene (if you know the show) was absolutely rocking. We ripped off a Steve Vai/Chick Corea version of it. Lots and lots of fun while they were really being stretched. Of course, not everyone was a player and there were students who needed to be accommodated with various roles. I shall call him Dave. He was clueless in virtually all aspects of the course. He was put on monitors (which were set and forget) and playback. How much of a mess could he make? We got to the quiet number before the finale of the first act. This was programmed on the CD to wind down with some gentle piano arpeggios and segue on the same track into the finale. Dave, who was chemically enhanced by then, hit stop at the end of the arpeggios. The intro the "The Jets are going to have their way tonight" etc just did not happen. That song was meant to start at 2:36 in the track. There is no way he could queue it up again even if he was operating at 100%. And he was not. So I turned to, let's call her Sue, on the keys and hissed, "Give me a G". "Huh?" she responded. "Give me a G", I hissed louder. This, while all the cast were frozen on stage. I started singing "The Jets are going to have their way tonight" acapella. The cast joined in and hammered through it. Acapella. With all the moves to the music which only existed in their minds. How we all laughed. A few weeks later. The energy levels on stage were insane, though!

What unusual bass instruments are you using?Owen replied to Nail Soup's topic in General Discussion Thanks. The 4 string version is available now and until the garage phoned to tell me my turbo was dead I was seriously interested. They sound like they function as I would expect. In a good way. Ho hum.

	I resemble that remark.

I suspect this is a redundant post, butbI bought something from Jack and it was all good. No one is surprised.

Back in the days I actually made money playing, I got insurance through the MU.

The balance is tricky, no? I have one but never play it because it does not have enough strings. Can I bring myself to sell it? Can I heck!

Rob Fleet - Adam Clayton-esque P Bass Build - Purple Flake!Owen replied to molan's topic in Build Diaries Luscious. May I suggest 2 bottom strap buttons so that you can lean it against something and it does not tip over? I cannot count how many times I have put my Tele down in the house and loved that aspect of it.

The best guitar stand is a nice big speaker cab where you can rest your P bass, with 2 equidistant strap buttons on the base, against it. But that is pretty niche.

It is a K+M. It will work. But that picture makes it super attractive.

I went over to in ears in Church yesterday morning. All the singers were astonished and loved it. Super frustrating that yours is intransigent. I also took my new Eich Bass Board. Deep, deep joy.
-
Does your singer provide the mic and the wedges?

If you listen to Jamerson's stuff isolated, it is not always pretty. We are, by now, used to playing to the grid. I have recently put a track together using a prerecorded drum track. It is very odd. The drum track is played live and bubbles along very nicely. I played the rest of the instruments using the drum track as a guide. Soloed, the bass sounds horrific - what we "know" as timing is deeply offended by what I played. But along with the drums it is just fine and dandy.

Seeing as we are discussing Mr Manton I shall tell you my Mr Manton story. I needed some extensive work done on a bass. He did it beautifully.

Oh! Ouch. I had a case which damaged my bass. When my homemade carrying strap broke, my case did not protect my bass as it hit the stone steps. That was my own stupid fault. What happened to you and G4M reversing hard out of the situation is deeply uncool.
