As a plus point this means bass players have a well-built and good-sounding alternative to behringer! As a minus it means all of us who paid £500+ for our amps aren't getting half of that back

Hartke A70, ended up gigging with it 4 times, always through the PA but was loud enough to keep up with the 2 drummers i used it with. Wouldn't stand a chance with our current tub-thumping ogre though!

Everything bass-wise i've watched has gone for a lot more than i was willing to pay (bar one bass, which i won!) Snagged a fully working laptop (bar the battery) with decent spec and XP licence for £35 a few months ago, typing on it now! Worth it for the 60gig hard drive!

I bought my Zoot bass then registered on here a few days later. Just out of interest searched the forum for zoot basses and found the original owner!

Billy Gould from Faith No More. Was my favourite bass player for ages. Check out Live At The Brixton Academy. Some cool distortion on War Pigs and massive phaser/flanger style sweeps on Epic

I'm completely happy with my rig. Finally a bass i've always wanted (and one that actually lives up to expectations too) A tiny amp and speaker that has a myriad of excellent sounds, fills the room and is incredibly simple to use Don't think i'll be buying another bass for a few years now, might consider swapping one of my others Definitely won't sell any part of my rig and am consistently impressed with it from gig to gig

All quality information, thanks again! Think i'll try the half rounds and see if i like em. Don't think i'd coat the fingerboard on this bass, i'm considering it on my other fretless as it's always gonna be my "try it out" bass. I guess that's a different thread though and there's probably a wealth of information on this site already so i'll get searching!

My Warwick Corvette is my back up. It used to be my main bass but since the acquisition of my Zoot it's been relegated to the back of the stage. I don't actually need it but can't part with it as it was my first "proper" bass and i've done hundreds of gigs with it. Still use it as my main bass at some of the more unsavoury venues we play Edited for morning-after-the-gig typos!

There was a 5 on ebay recently that had an amazingly figured body and went for more than the usual. If you're happy with it then it's a good buy!

However can't afford to have work done on a bass which i don't gig with. I'd love to replace the fretboard every time it's needed but don't have the funds! I'm looking for a similar sound but without the ballache of replacing the fingerboard when needed! I bought the bass cos it was extremely cheap (£335 with gator case), i already have a fretless with rounds on (and usa fender electrics) which sounds awesome, just want to get the same feel from my warmoth without ruining it! I don't think my fretless style is too aggressive but my other fretless is already worn (rosewood board), so want to safeguard this one a bit. Anyone here use rounds with pau ferro?

I take it opt for the centre line means directly below the string? I tend to use horizontal and vertical vibrato on fretless (if that makes sense), whichever is quickest to execute and sounds better in the given situation. I tried the elitels nickels on fretted and didn't like them but don't know how good they'd sound on fretless. Can anyone reccommend any brands? Alternatively is there a brand of rounds that maybe have thinner coils, or that aren't as rough? I guess they wouldn't grind the board down too much. Is pau ferro hard enough to withstand rounds or is ebony the only viable solution?

Hi all I've had my Warmoth fretless for a while now and have a hankering to string it with roundwounds. It's a lovely bass and sounds top with flats on but i find myself playing my jaco copy instead because i prefer the sound and feel of rounds. However i'm a bit hesitant because of possible wear and tear on the fretboard. It's a realy pretty piece of pau ferro and wouldn't want it churned up! Anyone know how durable pau ferro is with rounds? Maybe there is a brand that is kinder to fretless fingerboards? Any help is much appreciated!
