1. How much for cash sale and postage? Also have a Boss chorus pedal (not the bass specific one but sounded bob on when i used it) i might trade
2. I just about got my RD Artist into my Warwick rockbag, was a snug fit but not so tight as to pull on the machineheads
3.
yes, I'm in the market for one now. Can we see some pics of the routed pickup area you mention? I like the idea of the walnut finish
It's just the pickguard that's been trimmed, no actual routing has taken place on the body! I might even include a wood scratchplate in the sale (if it fits....) so shouldn't matter if that's your bag Was thinking of keeping this until i bumped it, if i get more interest i'll liberate it from the guitar shop where it's currently on sale and get some proper pics up. It's a really nice bass, hope it goes to a good home! Off gigging now, will answer any questions tomorrow unless i come in drunk and switch the computer on! (expect spelling mistakes btw).
4. So it's a shouting contest you want eh? IIIIIIMMMMMMMMM WWWWWWIIIIIIINNNNNNNNNNNNNIIIIIINNNNNNNNGGGGGGGG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Happy birthday though dude. I'm quite lucky, the guy at my local guitar shop is an ex pro and always sets up guitars before selling em. He sets my warwick up for free every time cos i bought it off him, did the same for my classical because he loves fiddling about with classical and spanish guitars and even offered to set my squier up for free when i had him change the pickups. He's a genuine enthusiast though, not like a lot of the money-grabbing clueless snakes that run most music shops. Of course the flipside is that he runs a very small shop that doesn't get the bass porn in that other larger shops sell

8. I actually really like the honey violin finish, my favourite rockbass! Before they released the rockbass fortress the originals could be picked up for small money on occaision, i saw a lovely old battered one go on ebay for peanuts a few years back (when i had no money ). Now everyone wants em! Still laugh every time i do a search on ebay and that german shop has 3 of the flashback ones, the first one didn't sell so why list 2 more? Anyways, back on topic! Btw, if anyone has a fortress they might like to swap for a fretless warmoth jazz i'm starting to get GAS again.......
9. Jesus, £170 posted?!?!?!?! Wish i'd seen this............
10. Apologies if you already know this! The album track was recorded with 2 bass tracks, one slightly after the other. You can get a similar effect live by altering your picking and using one delay so you get the galloping sound but i never managed to get the "bass chasing the bass" sound (hope that makes sense!). I can imagine using 2 long delays live would be very difficult to set up and could easily end up sounding horrible! If you make any progress let us know!
11.
yeah sorry man, I didn’t mean to jump on you like that. I’ve got a bad habit of possibly going a bit over the top when I’m trying to get what I'm attempting to explain across to other people That really surprises me. My 4 string version sounds like a good passive version of that classic Warwick sound. I owned a budget P before owning the Warwick and the step up in quality was the difference between an X Factor reject and a multi-platinum selling recording artist…incomparable. Deffo agree with you though about getting a decent Corvette Standard for this sort of cash, there’s usually a few around.
I just didn't like the nasal sound it produced, didn't suit my Hartke gear at the time. Didn't even sound good through my little combo (which is very flattering to most basses!). Also found the low B a little flappy and indistinct. Later used an OLP which was a much better 5er IMO Maybe i only like active Warwicks! I guess i was just dissapointed that i was expecting a fatter (with the humbucker) version of my Corvette and it fell well short. Horses for courses an all that though!
12. As far as basses go i'd say Squier Standards are hard to beat. All advice so far has been sound, esp. the bit about a knowledgeable mate (paritcularly where second hand gear is concerned)! It really helps to have someone who can spot faults you would otherwise have missed, buying second hand has drawbacks as well as advantages. I bought my first bass from cash converters and got well and truly robbed, i wish i'd have had someone to guide me in the right direction! Also, even though i really don't like ashdown gear, i'd have to say if i needed a loud little combo for gigging and rehearsing and didn't have much dough i'd plum for an electric blue 15"
13. It'll have a chubby neck, that's for sure! Very comfortable to play though as the 'board will be narrow at the nut The one i tried had the same neck dimensions as my German Corvette 4, slim board but deep neck. The string spacing felt a little narrower though as there is no adjustment on the one-piece bridge.
14. Used to have one of these, the passive humbucker in mine sucked! Bought it for £270 in loot and sold it for just over £200. It's a very limited bass and always sounded like a budget P, not a patch on my Corvette with none of the trademark Warwick sound. The neck was lovely though but i couldn't get on with a 5 string Warwick neck. The cavity was big enough for a preamp though so i suppose it could be easily upgraded. I'd rather have a punt on a second hand Corvette for similar money tbh
15. Two basses i've always wanted are a Tobias and a Warwick Fortress. I always wanted a Zoot though, they've always reminded me of the other two but are a bit more upmarket, so couldn't resist this when i saw it on evilbay...........
16. Can't go wrong with markbass. I use a LMII with a Schroeder cab (£750 for both 2nd hand) Just over a grand new
17. I actually tried a rockbass corvette (acvtive) with a view to buying it. Was really impressed with it as it was about £400 new at the time (it was the sunburtsy one and they hadn't been out long, it was 2002 i think). However the shop owner said i could have the German one for £590 new so bought that instead cos it looked better and would have a better resale value As it's the active one it'll sound great as it's the same gubbins as the german stuff The german corvette active standards go for £300+ used i think so it's up to you if you're comfortable with the trade
18. My bass, head and cab all belonged to BCers. I bought the cab and bass before i even joined and found about it later on! Also suspicious my Warmoth fretless (again bought before i joined) belonged to a forumite. I suspect every bassist in the country has at least a lead formerly owned by one of us!
19. Will have to pass i'm afraid, my corvette could do with a mid control but it's not my main gigging bass anymore so don't really want to take a chance with it. Shame as it's a top piece of kit for a great price and not something i'd have trouble smuggling past Mrs. Lemmywinks! Thanks for your time anyways chaps
20.
The board is already prewired to the pots etc. it isn't hard-wired to a pot as such it is just connected by wires from your pots to the board so it would be possible to rejig the board as you see fit... if you have the know how However looking at your bass you have 3 controls rather than the 4 that are needed for the mid control. Of course if you are a dab hand with the soldering iron you should be able to easily resolder this to a stacked pot for the bass and treble... this would give you stacked vol/pan, stacked bass/treble and a mid pot. Alternatively a bit of research and you can do what you like
I was just gonna stick another hole next to the battery cavity! Any work involving more than the odd bit of solder will be done by my local tech anyways. So was the board just wrapped in foam loose in the cavity?
21.
...I don't know.....I swaped out a Gotoh for a Badass II earlier tonight on my Jazz and there's not a lot in it TBH. As far a money is concered, I am prepared to add a wee bit. D.
I quite like Gotoh bridges, nice low profile and definitely a cosmetic improvement over a Badass! Does it's job admirably on my Warmoth
22. Cheers guys! This is the cavity Is the circuit board usually mounted to a post or anything on Warwicks?
23. Hi Got 2 sticks of 256mb laptop memory that i've had knocking about for a while, took em out of my Dell Inspiron 1300 a while ago (when they were still worth a tenner ) and forgot about em! They're PC2-4200 sticks The full label no. is "256mb 1Rx16 PC2-4200s-444-11-CD" If anyone can make use of em give us a shout, not been used in a while but were put in the special little anti static memory bags and kept in a box so should be fine. Ta!
