1. Just plugged mine in for the first time (Guitar Village, linky above, £76 delivered) First impressions? It's extremely good! With the Sub switch on 3 (full) it has a ton of bass, you can turn the fuzz right up (the manual told me to!) and it's well defined I used the Impedance knob from totally counter clockwise to about 12 o'clock, any further with an 18v pre and it became less like my idea of a fuzz but still sounded cool and very edgy What i currently like most about it is that (because of the Sub switch) you can have the tone knob set anywhere and still retain loads of bass in the signal. IMLE with a bass fuzz, even one with a blend control, it's usually a compromise getting the sound you want with one that sits in a mix and cuts through in the right areas. I'm itching to gig this pedal as it promises to deliver the goods in a live situation! It's also a lot smaller than i expected, about the same size as an EHX Nano pedal Only negative so far is that the Sub switch is tiny and doesn't feel too sturdy, it's also wedged right inbetween the Volume and Tone knobs so my fat fingers can't get to it without messing these two settings up. Think i'll just leave it on full though....
2. Even if you don't go for the newer ones chances are the current ones will drop in price when they come out. A German Warwick Fortress went for £380 on eBay the other week so might be worth keeping your eye out. You'll be bidding against me though
3.
Just buy a Nano Small Stone phaser, I got mine for only £38 new online! You could try to build your own but it's a lot of components to squeeze onto a small board.
+1 Mine was £40 delivered off here. Cracking little Phaser Persevere with the sale of tour Nano Clone, someone will grab it! I sold my original Clone on here not so long ago
4. An hour or thereabouts, that includes lights and full PA pluys the first round and cigarette. We usually give ourselves an extra hour just incase an amp has failed, speaker is farting etc. Being late is one thing, being unprepared is another!
5. Just to reiterate i am up for interesting trades so hit me up with what ya got, i'm not particularly keen on Fenders but may be swayed by a nice one
6. No thanks, i've limited myself to one more bass, no more amps! I'll have your Pedulla though......
7. Excellent price too, someone's gonna get a bargain. I'm off to the pawnbrokers to see how much they'll give me for my nan!
8. Where you gigging tonight, might see if i can get some mates out!
9. Bought my Squier bass on a lovely sunny day in Preston. Top bloke, so rock'n'roll he wears a leather jacket in brilliant sunshine!
10.
Just curious: Did you have the filters (VPF and VLE) off? "Flat" with these controls is all the way counterclockwise - both on will wreck your sound.
True! I really dislike the VLE and the VPF never gets more than a quarter turn. Sounds nice with them both totally off IMO!
11. Deputy, standing in for someone when they have a holiday/women troubles/drinking problem!
12. I'll always recommend the Owen Bass Gremlin if you can find one. Very versatile and natural sounding pedal. I use the MXR M80 for overdrive, although it's also a clean boost and a DI box. The blend control works really well, you don't lose any low end and keep your tone. It's clear and cuts really well
13. Try the mains fuse (should be in the kettle lead connection on the amp). My little Hatrke combo blew one of these, fretted about it for a couple of days then bought a new mains fuse for 50p!
14.
Don't pour Gasoline on it, it wont turn on. http://reviews.harmony-central.com/reviews...ial%20Head/10/1
That first review is hilarious! "I called Howard Dumble. Caught him on his cell phone while he was pinching a loaf in his Las Vegas hotel room." "I play the piccolo and drums in a three piece suitcoat of paint band aid. We do all sorts of music from yugoslavic folk ballads to super heavy bloody and gutsy death and gerbil to rectum METAL. Mostly in a religious setting."
15. At a guess i'd say pretty awesome, combined with quality leads and a decent amp obviousy. I think there was a similar bass in the... ahem... for sale section..... ahem.... not so long ago...... http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=44102 In all seriousness the Walnut body (probably) will weigh a ton, contributing to thunky lows. The neck will be nice and stable (Warmoths have the steel rods going on and Wenge is a preferred choice for necks, early Warwicks?) and the 'board will be the dog's proverbials (all theoretical of course). Certainly looks nice! Have to say the overall sound depends more on the pickup/pre choice rather than the woods. The wood does play a part though, esp. on a fretless. My Warmoth is a very heavy bass, i think the density of the woods used lends it a more P ish tone than most Js. I always had to dig in a bit more at the bridge to get the typical Jazz sound but it is there. The trade off is massive low end on all the strings. This is the bassiest bass i've had with even lows across the 'board. I'd definitely get a Walnut bodied bass again (funds permitting), plus it looks gorgeous! Steve
16. 27 frets? Awesome!
17. I agree with keeping the old pickups if you decide to sell it on. Frets or no frets, can't imagine you'd take a loss selling on a £35 bass! More likely to make a tenner!
18.
"To send it within mainland UK is £ 49. This includes buying a good box, tape, full insurance, filling forms in,waiting for the courier. It's work."
Even though everyone else charges the postage cost plus maybe a little more What sort of idiot buys boxes anyway? They're free! Packing tape is 2 for a pound too!
19. Yeah probably, i've got a memory like a seive!
20. A "realised i haven't bumped this all year" er... BUMP
21. Sweet Tobias! Been on my wishlist for a while, the EMGs are indeed the recommended upgrade. Have to have a think about this as i've a Tonepump sat here doing nothing... You still selling yours Budget Bassist?
22. These may indeed be excellent basses (i'll reserve judgement until i've played one) but every time i see the photos i struggle to see where the extra money is going. You can get an absolutely cracking bass for under £200 new, so what's so special about these? If i'm buying a bass for £500 (and i will be later in the year) i want to know exactly what the improvement is over the competition, not a vague promotional blurb
23.
This week I as been mostly playing... ... moy Bolin!
That's gorgeous. Always liked their guitars but that looks fantastic
