1. Carve a monkey grip in it for those "guitar over the head" moments!
2.
that metal one, cant remember the name, Toasted used to own one.... might have earth in the there somewhere
MSD i think? Never seen one for sale so not holding my breath! Look awesome though, if they sound half as good as they look i'll have to purchase one!
3. I bought one of these for £50 in new condition. Review says it all really, not quite the massive low end sweep i was looking for but still a keeper! Anybody know of a bass (or other instrument) wah that can handle real low end?
4.
Not that I imagine it's overly helpful but I would never buy a bass off of ebay without going and checking it for myself first, and if I couldn't then I wouldn't. Still, hope you get at least some of your expenditure back and chalk that up to experience...
Sometimes this just isn't possible though, and when GAS takes over it's very tempting to press the BIN button! I've been lucky with ebay and had what i consider to be 2 absolute bargains. On both occasions i spoke to the seller over a period of a few days and was entirely satisfied that i would not be disappointed when the bass arrived. I reckon you've still got a mighty fine bass for a small outlay though, it could have been an absolute dog!
5. +1 to the loose baffle board solution. Is there a visible lead coming from the back of the amp into the cab? If so try it with a different cab. I had the same problem with my Hartke 215VX. Turned up to a gig and at certain volumes i sounded like Motorhead! (I play in a party band so not the desired sound...). As Zerofret said, the baffle board had worked loose (the cab was only a year old) so 20 screws later it was sorted! I was careful, using glue and a craft knife, so it's not visible and is a pretty permanent solution. My Hartke A70 combo has developed the same problem, G and G# set it off, which put me off buying the chinese made Hartke stuff.
6. The hercules used to hold my RD Artist fine (the only stand that would!). However one of the plastic retaining arms is now not functional and doesn't spring back when you pick the bass up. This happened about a month after purchase and it has always been stored in the mic stand case, so has not been mis-treated Still works though!
7.
And Mark Bass amps. They may be small, light and powerful but they look awful. /runs from lynch mob.
Aw, i like em. They match my cab!
8. Also Mexican Fenders. Tried loads of Mex Jazzes and ended up buying a Squier for half the price!
9. I'll second the ashdown. Shocking quality control and very one-dimensional. Don't mind the electric blue amps though funnily enough! They're the only ones my local shop sells because he has too many faults on the other models. Like barts though...........
10.
Isn't that Robbie RIM basses old warmoth jazz?
Dunno is it? I got it off ebay in feb this year i think, the guy was a student and lived in leamington spa if IIRC (probably wrong then). It's a lined fretless and was pretty much unplayed when i got it. Just someone needing money at the wrong time of year to be selling your gear!
11. If you're anywhere near Blackpool i've got a 4x10XL (USA) and a 1x15XL for sale with covers and leads, £300 the pair? Mint too Attempted sell over!
12.
acitve duncans? i didn't realise seymour duncan did active pickups. EDIT: actually, come to think of it, i may have seen them in some magazine being review. i can't remember what they're called, but they're all black, aren't they? no pole pieces showing.
Don't know what the deal with them is, they have "Basslines" written on them. The guy said they we're Seymour Duncan Lightning Rods and there's a battery and some wiring in the cavity. That's about the extent of my technical knowledge I didn't really bother too much about the innards cos the bass was Mex Fender money so snapped it up! The controls are standard jazz vol/vol/tone so not really sure what's goin on, looking to upgrade it to possibly an aguilar pre in the near future so would like to know if there's a pre amp in the pickup casing or just a rudimentary one on the pots. Anyway here's pics:
13. Mine was £335 off ebay, with schaller bridge, gotoh tuners and active duncans. Also came with fender strap with locking buttons and a gator case!
14. These need to go, i've got no room for them and could do with the cash!
15. I've got a warmoth jazz, the body weighs a ton so there's no neck dive. Think the body wood on mine is all walnut so might depend on what body wood you choose
16.
Every 70s Japcrap Jazz copy I've dismembered (and that's quite a few) has been painted like that. Not very many have such blatantly cheap & nasty pickup routing. Another reason to buy CIJ? Jon.
I imagine you'd be extremely annoyed if you bought it planning to use it without the scratchplate.................. Not such a good stage look! Post recently edited due to bad english!
17. You've got me wanting to go to my local music store armed with a screwdriver now!
18. Having said i'd never seen it before.......... http://www.musiciansfriend.com/product/Fen...mp;src=3SOSWXXA My bass must be the real deal then, anyone wanna buy it for £1000?
19. I've seen this before on a few cheaper jazz copies (my jaco'd fretless is the same) but never thought i'd see it on a US fender! I always thought it was to save on finishing costs as it's a covered up area, but then i know absolutely zilch about spraying guitars so that's a complete guess! This is my bass, doesn't bother me either and i have the 'plate off all the time
20. My corvette is the same, less output than a bass with a passive humbucker. Can second the aquilar option, tons of clean boost and very difficult to make it sound bad (even for me!). Loving that Infinette btw!
21. Printed this off then realised i hadn't clicked the duplex option, so have this going to waste. It's the manual from the link on the website, a quick flick through reveals there's some stuff on the original LM too. I've bound it with plastic comb binding and put plastic covers on, so looks nice and won't get dirty! Posted free to anyone in the UK that needs it, just send me your address! Cheers Steve
22. Very pleasant to deal with and extremely helpful. Also sold me a kickass amp which helps!
