1. I like the Hartke A series, i've got the A70 (70w, 1x12" alu speaker) and it is plenty for practice and quiet gigs. Quite compact and light without being too small, also tilts back EDIT: These can be had for under £100 as they were only £250 or so new. I've put a low B through the A70 and it sounded great too

pedals

EHX Small Clone. Can be found for about £30 2nd hand. Needs an adapter lead though as some have the older jack style. Nano versions don't AFAIK
3. Nice bass, very interesting! The cat doesn't seem to like it though...
4. Just thought i'd take a minute to recommend Soundslive. Recently bought a Stagg EUB from them which had faults, so back it went. Got a replacement just over a week later (i believe they had to ship this from somewhere else and run it through their QC as they had no stock) Have to say they were excellent throughout, nice to speak to staff who are pleasant and know what they're on about for a change So, cheers to Soundslive!
5. I have an ebanol/ebonol (both spellings seem to be used!) board on my fretless and it sounds very natural. As said rounds churned it up a bit but it's a lot more hard-wearing than rosewood, even though i preferred the latter as a playing surface I'd say go for it, it's the best cheap alternative and looks good too
6. How about a trade for my Zoot Deluxe Custom? <<< This one Linkage: http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=49243&hl=zoot
7. Gear4music do cheap strings for about £20, i'l be sticking some on my stagg next week so I'll let you know how I get on with them
8. Cheers Steve Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaand... BUMP!
9. Here's my lowly Corvette, a reliable workhorse for many years and still sounds fantastic. Hopefully to be joined by another Warwick in the not too distant future
10. Yeah i'll get some more detailed pics up soon
11. How about swapping necks with the one on my Warmoth? It's a lined Pau Ferro board and neck with matching headstock
12. Around the £300 mark i think? How much are they new now? When i was looking they could be had for £400 online
13. +1 Unbelievably loud for the size. I doubt you'd ever need the extension cab unless you were playing huge stages and venues
14. Yeah i always have a chuckle at this one. It backlights perfect apparently!
15.
I've tried some markbass stuff before. I found them quite clinical sounding but that was all combo stuff will probably have to look around though!
Try the heads through a different cab. Mine goes through a Schroeder 1212r and it can do clean and hifi but also dirties up nicely with my MXR. With the Schroeder you can whack loads of low mids through it for a grittier rock tone.
16. If i lived up 4 flights of stairs i'd sell my bass gear and take up the harmonica! Seriously, Markbass/Genz and a single efficient lightweight cab that can handle plenty of lows (Barefaced etc.) I'd invest in a decent quality bag for your head and leads too. Being able to load your gear in/out in one trip is a great feeling!
17. I'd imagine the programmable Sansamp would be a decent option as you can save settings (3 i think?) I use an MXR M80 for OD, clean boost/eq and DI. I then use a ZVEX Mastotron for fuzzier moments. I recently used this with the M80 and it sounds brilliant, like a 3rd pedal in it's own right (in fact it's the best sound i've had!). Really all i need is the M80 and another pedal to mix it with and i have 3 distortion sounds Here: http://www.bassplayer.com/article/sansamp-...ss/Jul-06/17320
18. Tried this before my MXR M80 last night, they sounded excellent together! Couldn't have imagined a better combination of grind and all out fuzz. Amazingly it sounded controlled and clear too! I'm thinking this pedal is definitely a keeper, it handles everything i throw at it and takes up a third of the pedalboard space of my Big Muff
19. I have a Mighty Mite P neck on my bitsa Jazz and it's very nice. Only mwahs when i tell it to! Not sure i prefer the ebanol to wood, it's marking up already and i was told it would last ages. Sounds very natural though
20.
How is the body finished?
Sorry for the late reply, didn't see it till today! It's just finished with a little Danish oil IIRC, you can feel the grain and it looks smart. Plus it smells really nice! Ta Steve
21. Could have a butchers at this: http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=51068 Pretty much the same thing for half the price!
