These are great, i mentioned them in a thread the other week. Retailed for around £400 and they don't come up too often - there were loads of lesser models but not so many 68 ones. Nice chunky bridge and curved top, active/passive and series/parallel switches, very well made and do a great Flea impression. IIRC all the hardware was a brushed chrome effect and the bridge was recessed. The one i played was lighter in colour (kinda like pale ash colour) and had a more uniform grain than that one. Gonna keep an eye on this one i reckon, the postage is reasonable too.

Agreed with icastle, sounds like it could be dodgy however he could also be right. Has he actually offered any proof that it isn't real? I mean like confirmation from Gibson etc. Until then it's all speculation anyway.

Oh btw, whenever you look at his listings check to see if he has any recent neg feedback and what his replies are. He doesn't take kindly to complaints! In my head i've always imagined he looks like this:

I kinda like the idea, i always like to have one or two gadgety switches on a bass, however i think this may be one of those things which people will buy and never explore it's full potential. Maybe that's the point - having all the options but only using a few you like Still, there's something about a guitar that plugs into a PC to interface with it's own software that screams "bedroom musician" to me, however unfounded that may be.

That site is ace, funniest thing i've read in ages! I suspect that it's actually one big joke, surely nobody is that stupid? I can't imagine the folk who actually sit and write the advertising blurb can make it through one draft without falling on the floor in fits of laughter. Still, good idea for a company. Make 300 sales, buy two or three houses, retire!

Thing is with crazy German guy you never know exactly what parts are "custom ESP" parts. He sells a lot of basses with odd necks on as branded instruments. I like him though!

Haha, yeah i love Ghibli! It's a rosewood fretboard, not especially dark but with a reddish tinge.

I defretted my acoustic a while ago and it's lovely (miles better bass than when it was fretted!), the lines have been filled and are about to be stained and i have also removed the old plastic dot markers so it'll be a nice dark plain neck. Obviously i'd like to fill these holes where the dots were but with what? I've heard rosewood dust and dark filler (rather have wood though) but is there anything else that produces decent results? Also, where would i get rosewood dust from? Ta! Steve

There's still a few around £300 in the UK, if they creep down to around £200 when the new ones arrive then i might grab one, esp a fretless From what i recall on my old German Streamer Standard the one piece bridge is the same. In fact the entire bass is identical apart from neck/fingerboard wood although my German one didn't have the strat style jack socket that the RB did

Also i think the reason the old Rockbasses were being sold on the cheap was because Thomann will have had loads of stock and these new (ie close to German spec with 2 piece bridge, nice finishes and "W" logo) Rockbasses were announced a year ago as the 2010 range. I think the quality on these new ones is supposed to be a cut above the old range, i might scout for a bargain on the older RB Fortress though - the honey-coloured one was really nice. Those cheesy logos and basic bridges get on my nerves though! If they can put these out at around £300 they'll be a steal

Looks pricey, more than a decent tuner pedal. The cheap clip-on ones i've used have been pretty rubbish with bass, this will most likely be accurate though. Are you wanting to use it as your main tuner at gigs for silent tuning? I've been using a Korg Pitchjack (around £15), recommended on here by wpd i think, it's a jack tuner and is great for the money. Everyone who's tried mine has bought one.

Another +1 for Hartke, they've always been keenly priced and are great bang-for-buck

I always say it but Zvex Mastotron if you haven't already tried it. With that and my Russian Big Muff my fuzz GAS is long gone.
