If you can get that for around £200 then job done. Any more than that and i'd be tempted to scour eBay for a German Corvette, there's a few last year that went around the £300 - £400 mark. Occaisionally there's some great BIN deals too. They're good, some folk say the hardware is cheaper and doesn't last as long. I had to replace a volume pot on my German 'Vette Standard though. I liked every one i played, same electrics and pickups as the genuine article and same neck profile I'd wait a bit tbh as the new Rockbass line are on the horizon, they have them in the USA but i don't think they've arrived here yet: [url="http://www.warwick.de/modules/produkte/product_list.php?list=17056&katID=17057&cl=EN"]http://www.warwick.de/modules/produkte/pro...17057&cl=EN[/url] They'e much closer in appearace to the original Warwicks, have the proper bridge and the "W" logo. Even if you fancy one of the current range you'll most likely get a better deal on it once the new ones arrive and there's old stock to shift

If he is being honest and he paid quite a bit for what he thought was a rare and valuable Stingray then he's most likely going to be a bit gutted and isn't going to want to accept he's lost a large chunk of money. He might be trying to cut his losses with the ambiguous description regarding the validity of the bass

Here's what he sent me: "I have put in a revision and have said a couple of ebayers have saidits not a music man but i have over 50 watchers and hundreds of views on his an only 2 people saying this is not the real thing could this be a hussle im asking myself or have you and the other guy made the mistake. anyway ive put it in and just let them deside for themselfs ." Sounds reasonable enough, maybe he bought it as a genuine 'Ray? Again the suspect spelling and grammar suggests he's most likely quite young I let him know that it had been listed before and there was quite a few people both times that confirmed it wasn't all present and correct. Thanked him for changing the listing too, not many sellers do It looks like a nice enough bass and i'm not really a Stingray fan, if the neck is genuine then it should still fetch a good price

My last band had a very loud drummer with an old-school loud kit, he totally governed the on-stage volume and thus was responsible for poor on-stage sound. Adding a "big Marshall stack = better sound" guitarist into the mix is asking for trouble. Maybe ask your drummer to get a more modern, quieter kit? Also ask the guitarists to have their amps facing sideways so they don't affect the FOH? I appreciate these two are easier said than done! I don't know why guitarists are so reluctant to downsize. Our original guitarist used a big Marshall stack and had the worst sound i have ever heard. The best guitar sound i have heard came from an Orange Rocker 30 combo, completely owned the Marshall By far the best solution is in-ears if you can afford them, drummers play quiter with them too so the whole band will be quieter

Wyre River Guitars in Blackpool are really good for guitar repairs, could ring them and ask them? Alternatively A&P audio do all of our repairs for PA, they're really good and have always been cheap. They're a PA company but they really know their stuff, they're on Poulton Industrial Estate near Blackpool. I foud it quite a clumsy design and thought it was pretty ugly too! Tbh i'd have killed for a BBOT on that bass! I'll always prefer a Warwick style 2-piece bridge, really easy to adjust everything including string spacing. Looks the nuts too

If it did sell then this might be the unlucky buyer looking to offload it to an equally gullible eBayer

Another +1 for Soundslive, i bought my Stagg EUB there (£45 cheaper than everywhere else at the time) which had a couple of issues. They were great, had the old one colected and was playing a new one with in the week, very pleasant people and seemed genuinely concerned with getting me something i was happy with. I know someone on here had a really bad experience with them a while ago, maybe they've actually responded to criticism and got their act together? GigGear were also excellent when i bought my "designed-and-built-by-morons" Ashdown Superfly, took it back and fixed it twice and were always pleasant to deal with

The OBP to go for is the OBP-2SK, it has the stacked bass/treble so you'd be ok with 3 controls Personally i'd prefer to have a mid control, the one on mine (OBP-3SK/PP) sounds great, i think my 2-band Warwicks cound really do with a mid-control By all accounts every Aguilar pre-amp is gonna sound sweet, just depends on wether you like 2 or 3 band eqs. If you really don't want to drill extra holes in the bass have you thought about an outboard pre-amp? There's usually a few "proper" brands that come up on eBay for a similar price, eg Vintage, Aria, Stagg, Westfield etc. I'd keep an eye out for something like that if i was after a project bass. I played one of the Cheetah branded basses and it was ok, same headstock as the Swift ones so i presume it was the same factory. Nothing particularly good about it but seemed like it'd last for a year or two

If you need a stacked bass/treble, mid, volume and blend then surely you'll still need to have an extra hole drilled? EDIT: Unless you can rig the volume and blend (or a vol/vol) to a stacked pot

I was moved when Rick Wright died, Floyd were a very influential band for me and i spent a lot of my musical youth engrossed in their stuff, particularly the Saurcerful/Meddle/Pompeii/Darkside era. I always liked Wright, sat there quietly coming up with the goods from album to album, dignified amidst all the bickering, should have been a bass player really!

I think they sound great and are very loud, much louder in a gig situation than the 500w Hartke head my LMII replaced. If they were normal size they'd be on equal footing with a lot of heads but certainly better than most, probably a bit cheaper too
