As to flats, if you can get them La Bella Low Tension, they Re not rubbery and close enough to round wounds not to need to fiddle with truss rod and nut generally.
La Bella low tension flats ordered!
2. So, after having 50s P GAS for the longest time, I went to the local guitar shop to have a look at the new gear, and even got to play some of the 2017 Ibanez gear as the Ibanez reps were in. Coming down the stairs to leave I see this, looking all lonely in a sea of Fender American stuff and in need of a good home. So naturally, I asked to pick it up and have a play. The next day I went back and swapsied a Squier Strat (Im not a guitarist and likely never will be) for this beaut. What can I say? It looks and feels great, and with the right EQ settings on the Rumble 500 sounds great too. Will it sound as good as the higher end Fender 51 Basses? Probably not. Will it sound better with a Seymour Duncan in there? Possibly. But for the deal I got it for I have to say it is superb, with a nice baseball bat of a neck and super skinny frets, chunky high mass bridge and the rather fetching '51 styling. Very, very happy with it. Sounded great at rehearsals in the week too. The only thing i might change in the near future is trying flats (if anyone has any suggestions for nice non-rubbery feeling flats). 50s P GAS well and truly quenched.

4.
As my wife would say, "NOW look at what you've done!" Sounds a great project - give a shout if you want any hints or tips (or look at the various threads and if you do it the opposite way to me, it will probably work out much better ) Or as my boss once said, "We've achieved a lot, in spite of your help, Andy."
Look at what weve caused Andy
5. I remember a bloke asking us if we could do any Lionel Ritchie after hearing an hour of indie and punk rock.
6.
Black hardware complements the scratchplate - love the limited palate. The grain looks great... Another Andyjr1515 masterpiece..
But unlike all the other ones, this ones mine
7. IIRC the song that got the biggest reaction from the last band was Maggie May, followed by Pinball Wizard.

11. I do like the Weeknd, but for every great somg he releases I feel theres 1 or two not so great ones. I Feel It Coming is a great song though.
12. oooh thats pretty. I went to play some of the Ibanez 2017 range today and left with a Squier 50s P bass (of course on accident). Happy NBD to us both sir.
13. Andyjr1515 would probably sort you out... @andyjr1515
14. I played one of these today. Theyre fantastic things. Im not one for more than 4 strings, fretless basses, etc. But this was really nice. I found that, due to physical frets being there the fretless side was much easier to gauge as to where the frets really would be on the fretless side, if that makes sense. Oh and a bit of chorus thrown in and it sounded phenomenal through the Laney combo they had. Fantastic bit of kit if its your jam.
15. Well its bound to be good methinks. Another one to the GAS list, a GAS list thats already 9 deep...
16. Red was definitely a good choice. Superb
17. Pretty much anything by the Smiths. I really, really, don't see the fascination of Morrissey sounding asleep or p*ssed (or both at the same time) and murmuring utter nonsense into a microphone
18. Bought a Seymour Duncan P bass pickup from John, speedy and easy transaction, deal with confidence.
19.
Had the PB-50 for a few years now. Great bass ,ended up buying 2 of them One with TI's and one with Hot Wire tapes. There was a good thread by discreet last year on them. Pretty certain there's a soundcloud link to my pal Claudios' A/B between the stock Wilkinson and a Duncan in the post. Fighting weight on my two is about 8.5lb with luggage scales from the £1shop
Decent weight then, just furthering my GAS. Itd be interesting to hear that A/B if you have a link...
20. I for one love how active EQs can quickly alter the sound of the bass on the fly and offer versatility to the sound. That being said, I do a lot of my toneshaping on the amp or via pedals, and I dont like having to change batteries (not that its hard or takes long, but its just annoying when the batteries fade midway through a session)
