1. So my cheap(ish) cable from amazon (£4) has just died on me, all my other leads work. Does anybody know of any cheapish cables that are decent and actually stand the test of time?
2. As a fan I'm still undecided. Some of the tunes are good, but after the 4th or 5th its hard to remember which song is which. They all sound to similar and don't have anything memorable. After listening to it, I had none of the new tracks left in my head for the remainder of the day, and even that bloody Canadian child managed to do that when I heard one of his tracks on the radio earlier in the year. Not like what happened the first time I listened all the way through Let it Bleed anyhow. On a semi-related note, I feel like time is running out for me to win my bet - I said Jagger would be 2016'd. I dont know whether Im happy or sad to lose this bet.
3. I managed to play a load of Burns gear not too long ago. Great guitars and great basses. GLWTS.
4. Well thats one way to get MJ stuck in my head. Seriously though, half my age and twice as talented. Kids have some serious skill, not to mention some SERIOUSLY nice basses...
5. Another of your bitsa precisions. Another bout of GAS. When will the cycle end...
6. looking for a bass teacher in Birmingham. I used to take lessons many moons ago but stopped and am now looking to retake lessons.
7. what??? Im amazed. And curious.
8. Driver, repairman, "what should i get for XYZ" advice-giver. Plus the one that recorded drum tracks for when our drummer broke his elbow. Oh and bassist, backing vocalist and part time drummer. Ya know, the cement of the house that is our band.
9. I own one and they are fantastic. The neck is amongst the best Ive held in terms of comfort and playability. GLWTS
10. Drummers? Unreliable? Jack Wilshere? Injured? Water? Wet?
11. If it wasnt for christmas and new car chewing up all my funds, I'd be straight on this. Gorgeous. Shame by the time i get the quids together it'll probably be gone.
12. Just been looking for lessons on both bass and 6 string in my local area but alas, the good tutors of East Birmingham don't seem to have times or availability to fit around my current work hours so I'm looking online. I was earlier recommended Yousician by a friend who used it to learn his guitar basics and after downloading i was hit with a paywall about 20 minutes in. Anyone else used it and think the €15 or so a month price tag is justified? Are there better online alternatives?
13. I have a JB75 i picked up on here a little while back. One of the best feeling necks ive ever had the pleasure of using. Take a bump on me.
14.
(Doesn't look like a million bucks, but it sure sounds like it!)
See I think the Strat definitely has a certain look. The right colour combo and they're great to look at (like mine).
15. picked up my first guitar yesterday. Second Hand Squier Stratocaster from my YOB, in what fender call wine red (although it's so dark it could be seen as black unless you looked hard enough). Upgraded with USA electronics and Kent Armstrong Pickups, as well as unbranded locking tuners and straplocks (I have no idea which kind). Set me back £190 and they threw in a gig bag, strap and 2 sets of D'addario strings for an extra tenner. Guitar player for our band came with me and picked it out over an Epihone SG and newer Squier gear. Since 1.30 yesterday afternoon I think it's been out of my hands for about 7 hours and that was when i slept.
16. I think the genuine relic work looks good. I'd be more than happy to leave it as is
17. Sold my epiphone EB0 to Karl today. Comms were quick and very friendly and Karl is a top bloke. Would do business with him again without hesitation.
18. I'd be really tempted but I wouldn't be able to pick it up from you.... Glwts
19. And no I haven't been on the receiving end of some life-ending accident, although everyone's worrying has been reassuring or amusing, I'm undecided between the two.
20. Sorted fellas, if I'm using the bass and charging the phone then don't touch both at the same time, or put them in the same extension block. Also bought a new actual Apple iPhone charger and a rubbery case for the phone so that there's no chance of a charger fault or being able to touch the aluminium casing of the phone. People at PMT sent the amp back to Ashdown and they've re-earthed it also. Combination of all of these things - no electric shocks since.
21. AFAIK this is the bass used by Royal Bloods Mike Kerr, who has quickly become one of my favourite bassists. If it's good enough for him... If I wasn't looking at taking up 6 string of be all over this, but otherwise glwts.
