Went into PMT today to buy patch cables. Left with a Fender Rumble 500 head and Orange 4x10 cab, for an absolute steal and 24 month interest free finance. Also, a minor cockuo involving them selling my cheapo gigbag has resulted in me getting a much more fancy, padded gig bag for nothing. Problem one and two sorted.

Just got in from having a lesson. Learnt more in the lesson than I ever did at school.

Think I may be sorted on the amp front. Just a hard case and some actual ability left to sort out.

Trying to remember which particular Gallien Krueger head and cab was in our practise room way back when. Man Id love that rig. Havent seen it in months so cant really remember.

Other than those theres the Genz combo (which Im only worried 350w is a bit on the shy size, though what do i know) and also brand new fender rumble 500s are about £500 on Andertons/PMTs websites.

Failing that theres a TC 210 on here with the same wattage and ohms.

Theres a 500w Ashdown ABM in the classifieds for £200 that Im tempted by, but unsure of a cab that would suit RE wattage, ohms, etc. As i say, Im lacking any clue as to what Im doing.

As the title says. Just joined my first band in well over a year and it just occurred to me Im missing some essential stuff. 1) a gigworthy bass amp 2) a decent bass case 3) any idea of what im doing. Bass amp and case Im sure the good people here will be able to advise on. The bit about not having a clue maybe not. But hey, we play bass, no one hears us anyway right?

Id start by changing strings and, while theyre off, scrubbing the fretboard with some sort of treatment. All old dead cells and old sweat are in there. Failing that, dop it in a wheelie bin full of Dettol. Should do the trick.

I quite like hip hop but I feel the general quality of it has taken a nosedive since the days of Dr Dre and maybe Kanye.

Sorted. Mr Andyjr1515 is taking it to be lightened and veneered. Have a feeling its going to look superb.

Im going to make a serious effort to be there this year, seeing as i can now drive and all. Exciting ...
